    Hi Carla! I lost 20 lbs and wanted to lose at least 5 more. I gained half of it back but have religiously watched your videos and the scale is going down. Your wonderful advice of preportioning snacks really helped me this week. I had sweets every day this week in a 1/4 c portion (chocolate covered raisins, peanut m n ms. I felt satisfied a in control. BTW I ate it after a high protein meal. Thank you as always! Good snack is a small bag of frozen grapes. It takes awhile to eat! ❤❤❤

      Ah I'm delighted to hear that. I love the idea of frozen grapes but my teeth hate them 😂

      @HalfofCarla Understood! But here's the thing if you want to try it out and maybe it won't work for you But don't bite into them, such on them as you would a sweet until they're soft and malleable then bite into them. If you can do it you won't need many as they'll each take awhile to become soft. Not my hack...an old Weight Watchers trick from 30 years ago...or longer. XO ❤️

    I really love hack number 4 about not eating sweets on an empty stomach. I've found that when I remember to eat something beforehand I often no longer crave the piece of chocolate or candy or cookie, whatever it may be, afterwards. Because sometimes that craving is coming from your body needing either a calorie or carb, of even an iron boost and that need is manifesting in a cravings for sweets. 😊
    Also, a good tip for those with a sweet tooth like me, is buying the snack size versions of chocolate and candies. It has helped me soooo much when it comes to portion control in regards to sweet treats, and they're available year round not just October. (Though October is a good time to stock up on them for a cheaper price)

      100% on the mini size individually wrapped chocolates. Sure it's less cost effective (except I buy things when they're on sale) but I will eat a freddo not a block of chocolate in a day or 2! And tracking is easier and more accurate

    I have been having a hard time lately. I have lost 72lbs, maybe gained a few back this past month. I still have about 120lbs to lose. I am losing about as much as you, just a wee bit more! 190lbs in total at the end of everything. Life gets stressful. I am noticing that I will have a lot of loose skin, and in places I didn't even think about -- like my neck. I am about to be 36 and feel like I waited too long to lose, and now I won't even be attractive or look the way I want at all. I'm not married. No kids. I hold myself back from everything for my weight, and now I never expected the neck thing, even though I have seen you and other people who have lost a ton of weight say they have loose skin there. And I never even notice it! I know I just have to keep going and keep losing, and it maybe won't be as bad as it is feeling right now, but I am in one of those slumps and it just bums me out. Wasted over a month being in this depressive slump :(
    Slowly getting back to it, though. I really hold onto you saying that I just need to get it off!! Then comes maintenance. I think I need to binge all your videos, and that needs to be the only thing I binge.

    • @Toastwig
      @Toastwig หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      so I didn't lose as much as you (110lbs in total) but i remember the worst i felt about my loose skin was in the first half of my journey, as it was emerging. This is in part because there was still quite a bit of fat there to make the skin hang lower than it does now, at least on my neck and arms. But it was also because it was just so new and unfamiliar. I KNEW what it meant to be big, I had been overweight all through childhood and obese all through my 20s (I lost the weight at 29) but i didn't have any experience with what it meant to live with loose skin. One of the biggest helps was just time, getting used to it and giving my self-compassion and self-worth time and space to do their thing haha. Don't know if this helps at all but rock on hun!!

    • @LindseyObrooke
      @LindseyObrooke หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Toastwig Thank you writing - it does help! I do think that's something that's going on. Still a lot of fat in there, so things are hanging looser -- did you notice places tighten up, or at least look like less of an issue once you got closer to goal?

    Thank You Carla! And Hi from the Sunshine Coast in Australia You have inspired me & I joined Bodyslims because of you. I am feeling better already after 8 weeks - losing weight and inch’s off my body, feeling stronger but most importantly learning so much about myself on this journey. Your videos are so calming, funny and informative. I can relate to this video with the snacks as I have found that if I start telling myself I can't have something I start to derail and go back to the old binge eating habits (working on my all or nothing approach to life) but if I keep to the formula of walking, watching the calories with an occasional sweet or savoury snack I can stay the course and it’s so much easier. Thank you again xo

    For me the easiest way to loose/maintain bodyweight is to get enough sleep. Not to skip breakfast or dinner, but because being tired just makes me so hungry. Especially for calorie dense things. A good nights sleep takes all those cravings away.

    Thank you for sharing! The cut-up veggies as a premeal snack was something my mom used to do for my brothers and I when we were kids. As she was cooking we'd be watching tv and she'd come around and stick a slivered carrot or bell pepper in our mouths lol. I do that too but with a drink. I found that I need to be sipping on something while I'm cooking so I started sipping on a drinking vinegar instead of a soda.

    In my new program its important with snacks, just because of what you said, when I ”finished” I will bingeeating them, or also during the middle(long long way to go)… Forbidden is a word a must remove from food and snacks. I have a limit of calories, and as long as they fit there (not as a exchange for real food, I must eat food. )
    So last week I just bought zip-bags for müslibars, and small jars for nuts (to eat only 35gram of 200gram cashew in a bag is impossible. ) So Im so happy I already following your tips.
    My next step is to sit by the table and not in the sofa to eat. A bit uncomfortable with all my weight, but its a goal.

    • @barbarakelly1916
      @barbarakelly1916 หลายเดือนก่อน

      May I add three tips regarding eating at the table? 1. The table setting is important (nice but not fancy table linens, a candle for the evening meal, maybe flowers (real or artificial) in a vase, etc. ) plus relaxing background music. Treat yourself as you would treat your guests
      2 Mint or licorice herbal tea is a nice way to end a meal, with some sweet flavor but no calories.
      3. No phone calls or texts when dining! My telephone goes on "automatic answer" mode.

    Great video :) On the empty stomach note, fruit spikes your glucose just the same as a snickers bar would, so it's suggested to eat high carb and sugary foods paired with protein, or ACV just before. These both slow the absorption of glucose into your bloodstream. Just a tip for anyone who wants to eat their fav things without picking up weight!

      There are many people reversing diabetes 2 on a fruit only diet.

    • @kylaszone
      @kylaszone หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ lol ok, fruit only, go them. Probably because they’ve massively reduced simple carbohydrates which is beneficial for all of humanity atp. It reversed my pre-diabetes and gave me my life back.
      But I guarantee after 3-4 years they’ll get checked by a doctor and told their blood sugar isn’t right, they’ll start developing skin tags, a hump at the back of their neck, fatigue, the list goes on. Eventually they learn they’re insulin resistant and that it can take years to reverse because it took years to get them there. I know because I’m that person. You won’t know until later because doctors don’t check for it.
      You do also realise almost all of the fruit today is fake? It’s not even real fruit, it’s been modified to our tastebuds to be extra sweet and have far less fibre than when real fruit existed. Actual fruit is barely sweet. Glucose Goddess on TH-cam can show you this unfortunate reality.
      The glucose molecule is the same in an orange as it is in a chocolate bar, therefore the spike is the exact same, the source does not matter when it comes to that. Yes the one without chemicals is healthier, that’s not my point.

    I have a small caveat for your "don't make it harder on yourself;"
    Make it harder on yourself in a way that challenges you to be better, not in ways that take away your focus.

      @barbarakelly1916 After numerous medically-supervised and commercial diets, I did a reality check: what I would give up and what I would do. I needed one meal for normalcy. I keep a diet diary for accountability so I see if I am going off the rails. Besides, 20 small meals win over one large multi-course meal.

      There are recipes on line and in cookbooks for healthy versions of granola. Granola is one of the easiest things to bake: mix ingredients, bake and stir while baking, cool and portion out ; store. You control what's in it; and there are no chemical additives in homemade granola. Much less expensive than what's in the store
