- This is the newest Beats Pill bluetooth speaker. I have been testing it for about a week now and I found some pros and cons you should know before buying.

$50 cheaper than the Beats Pill+ from 2015 which was $199. This is $149
Yet it has double the battery life, finally an IP rating for durability, dual native ecosystem support, USB-C audio, a lanyard, and it weighs less. It’s better in every single way.
DESIGN
10% lighter than the old one
Includes a lanyard for carrying or hanging
Three very stylish colors - red, black, and champagne gold
Metal grill
Silicone overmolding on the back for a nice grip
No flap necessary for the USB port. Hopefully nothing gets in there
I think it’s hard to argue with this design. It is simple yet vibrant and distinct. I think it’s going to be very popular
Easily switch to stereo mode with two pills
MICROPHONE TEST
This mic is great for voice assistant use while cooking hands free or for phone calls
Noise learning algorithm should suppress noise and focus on voice - let’s test it
Use Beats Pill to charge other devices
BUTTONS - double press power for voice assistant
1/2/3x play button for playback controls

Press and hold power to pair
Press and hold middle buttons to pair on dual mono mode - what they call Amplify mode
Middle one one & + on other = stereo mode

New woofer for deeper bass than before

Capable of 90% more displacement than the old Pill+

It also includes a USB-C cable in the box
This is a party speaker, not a hifi home studio speaker. Don't expect superior instrument separation
Warm and bassy up to 80% volume
Fun for pickup bball, a boat day, a backyard party, or basically anything else
Best at about 30 - 70% volume
Gets a bit harsh over that and the lows can't keep up
Pretty ok soundstage with two, but without spatial audio, you don't get that with just one speaker

It’s definitely louder than the beats pill +. I’m amazed so far. I loved my beats pill + but the battery is fried. I’m so glad they came out with an even better one. Can’t wait to use it for pool days.
Updates are usually done in the beats app on Android

How is the sound vs the Soundcore Motion X600? Just curious if it's louder or better in any way since it is Apple made.

The fact that they have made the pairing option kinda messy and are promoting it at the same time doesn't make sense to me, their main competitors have applications to make everything way easier, for the price JBL Charge 5 does a better job for sure.

wonder how this is compared the to "Bose mini link II" when it comes to the sound.
Does this new pill have the Auxiliary port like the old pill did? My computer monitor has no sound output, so the auxiliary port would be very useful for me.

I wonder if this sells well for them and their collaboration versions do well, that they’ll try to have a “Pill Pro” that gives more features like an individual speaker being stereo, longer battery life, and maybe built in airplay and chromecast
i hardly doubt they can put airplay in it unless they make it a smart speaker that can connect to the internet since that’s what airplay relies on but if they do, there would definitely be a price jump for the tech.

Most speakers have thus functionality now. Especially beats. Even my headphones can do this

To me, it might be Louder than Homepod Mini, or just as loud. Definitely not louder than the full size Homepod

I still have my old one, I tried it, and you still need the BeatsPill+ app to pair with those models. Which makes it incompatible with the new one. :/

No
Never been a real fan of the brand's design, but this is quite okay for a beats product.
That's weird, Beats has the best designs out of all the speaker brands.

The beats pill plus was rated for 12hours. I swear mine lasted multiple summer days at the pool. I just got this new one so I’ll update soon.

consumer electronics prices seem to have no relation to inflation, prices can go up, down, sideways compared to 10 years ago.

Yikes, I think the Bose Soundlink Flex -- I own that one, may still be much better. It has great bass and clarity for the same price, often on sale, and pretty rugged.
Me too but the battery life is rubbish, bluetooth 4.2 with limited range means its not the standard. Good sound for sure but not feature rich compared to Sony or Soundcore
@@felix_five 12 hours of continuous sound is good battery for me. And bluetooth 4.2 is sufficient. I'm never that far from the speaker. And a speaker's priority is the sound and the Bose Soundlink Flex has the best sound for the size. I would say it's still better than any competitor in it's category.

Both sounded pretty similar in all the comparison videos I’ve seen. I have the Bose, and it seems to have a lot of higher range “kick bass,” but not extend quite as deep as some other speakers. From the sound, these are a bit more neutral and high quality sounding, and might go deeper. Bose also tends to take away a ton of bass at higher volume levels, but I think most if not all small BT speakers do this to a certain extent. (Technically, the firmware just boosts the bass at lower volumes.)
Basically a jbl flip 6 but Beats
For 150, the Soundcore boom 2 would be much better imo

Revival of the iconic Beats brand by Apple. Although I hate Apple for killing Beats’ legendary bass heavy signature sound in the new iterations.

I use the new tribit x sound plus 2, and I think it easily beats the beats. It is cheaper at 70 dollars, with superb sound quality of 30watts. Plus it gives cover protection for the usb c and the 3.5mm aux port, Unlike the beats here has an open usb c port.. I also have the jbl charge 3 and that is also great but I prefer the tribit with new features at a lower cost and greater louder cleaner sound.
It does have Lossless audio

The original Beats Pill from 2012 was pretty popular in the US and I would consider it an iconic bluetooth speaker from that time

Apple just nerfs all the beats products, for example; Beats Solo Pro were the best beats headphones, or overall cans that I ever owned.
And, the new Beats Studio are mid tier as well, if they gave the Beats Solo pro treatment to all of their new products, they would be on top.
