The Sony ULT Field 1 is on sale for like, $90, which isn't that bad. I'm sure the Beats Pill will go on sale as well. The links have all the best options so you can compare prices. You can only expect so much from a small Bluetooth speaker.
100000% honesty here from someone who is not an audiophile i just got the beats pill and the low sound quality blows me away the bass in songs and everything its nuts
I prefer beats pill I bought the champagne gold colour it matches with my iPhone 15 pro. No issues it has so much good bass and there’s no distortion because I always listen about 50/60 percent volume!
Pretty shocking how much people dont understand what an audio engineer is and what they do. The beats pill sounds more neutral yet it's eq'd in a way that brightens the highs and gives clear bass with decent mids. The Sony Ult mechanism is good, but it's essentially a bass boost. And if you're boosting bass above a certain point, it will muddy up the mids and cause blow out to the overall sound quality. Both speakers are damn good for what they are, but the comments are puzzling to me. Ive watched this channels videos for quite a while and he always has an accurate view on sound quality. Sound preference IS a thing, but overall sound quality isn't really debatable lol. Its good or bad and I trust in the little nuances of this man's ear. *UPDATE* I got the Sony Ult field 1 and the Ult function isnt just a bass boost, it's a power boost to the overall sound. Bass boost just adds volume to the lower bass levels, mudding the sound. The Ult Field 1 adds more power to the speaker, so it doesn't muddy the sound yet adds MUCH more bass. The beats pill doesnt have passive radiators, so you won't feel that bass and it doesnt come through as much as it would if it had. But the beats has a more powerful magnet on its speakers, which gives a decent bass amount that supports the mids and highs. After using both, the Ult Field 1 has a better consistent overall sound through all ranges.
I have an Ult Field 1 recently and it's really different compared to the SRS series before. The sound is quite clear, decent treble and not too much bass like before but enough to enjoy EDM.
There's no eq app, they are both mono, so I would not buy either of these. They do have similar EQ profiles. The Sony cuts out at 14k where is the beats pill goes all the way to 19k. I think the beats pill is louder as you demonstrated so I probably picked that one if I had to. The soundcore boom 2 is 80 w and has an app and The tweeters are stereo.
@@Matt-xv2cp I also have both, also the JBL flip 6 and the Sony is much better in everything, deeper bass, better mids and that it plays louder than the other two The only downside to the Sony is the battery life, if you play at 70-80% volume it lasts 5-6 hours
@@ThisIsTechTodaydid apple pay you to say this ? The pill is objectively terrible for its price it gets easily outperformed by 60 bucks speaker while only sounding slightly better
Everyone’s understanding of sound is different, and their pursuit of music style is also different. Personally, for the more shocking bass, I think Sony is more suitable for me.
The one thing about small speakers is that in order to create the illusion of a bigger sound or more base is to utilize the acoustics of the surrounding area. Put it near a wall, step, etc., anything solid, and hear the huge difference. 😎
I actually think the Beats Pill is cool because it is compact and light. Unfortunately the passive radiators are missing to achieve the full bass potential. For 170 euros the Beats Pill is simply too expensive. 120 euros are better because for 130 euros you get the JBL Charge 5 and that The sound and volume are significantly better, better highs, mids, bass and deeper bass and, above all, significantly louder
Pill is a great reboot with HomePod-inspired sound, bass in 40 Hz range, and can play pretty loud at 80% volume. Anymore indoors and it shifts to its outdoor mode for long-range listening and compression. Having two of them in amplify / stereo modes helps reduce compression.
@@ThibautMahringer Don't knock it until you try it. You can feel 40 Hz through your hand when holding the speaker, and this was while standing in a crowded Apple store, using the "Sonic" app to send sign waves through the speaker.
I bought a pair of Xiaomi Mi S29d(also sold as Xiaomi Sound Outdoor 30W) speakers. They might not have some intelligent functions. But the clarity of sound is insane, bass is deep and tight, 12 hour battery life and a bit extra with real use, stereo pairing(or up to 100 speakers) and water resistance. I am very surprised with their quality. The passive radiators really make the bass even stronger when you put the speaker next to a solid wall. There is also no distortion AT ALL at max volume. Only a decrease in bass to prevent damage. I'd still like to see in person how Sony is doing today. The last time I used their portable speakers was the SRS-XB30.
I so much enjoyed this fellas open honesty regarding his review on these products; in saying this, it opened a credible go2-source for understanding how products may be beneficial to ones personal use. I came across his space because I have in 'cart' a Bluetooth speaker for my daughter and is not either of the speakers he speaks of. You know sometimes ppl don't need or want to chase reviews on a product that they're interested in... they just buy due to brand names. I would like him to review the Fugoo brand. Like his link I accidentally found on TH-cam or similar the Fugoo Bluetooth many years ago and ever since have enjoyed not only it's high-end quality sound, but also the physical pounding it has taken over several years. Perhaps he's rated this speaker 🔊 I know it is superb in comparison to these two brands displayed yet cost comparison is ballpark the same. As of now with all the mini or standard size Bluetooth speakers I've reviewed today ... I'm going to buy a Fugoo speaker for my daughter.
Hey mate, great review. Could you let me know how the Pill sounds compared to a MacBook Pro 16? Kind of random but I'm considering getting the beats pill but my MacBook already sounds pretty nice when I need a speaker on the go. So want to know if it's significantly better on the Pill.
I have an M1 Max 16 inch MacBook Pro and I picked up the new Beats Pill yesterday. I’m far from a sound engineer but if you’re just looking for a random guy’s perspective, I’d say that Pill is probably about twice as loud as the MacBook speakers. There’s definitely value in having a stand-alone speaker. Definitely can fill a much larger space than the MacBook. It’s got awesome clarity, the high end sounds pretty natural to me, however I listen to a lot of rock music and certain cymbals sound a bit tinny to me. But it’s worth noting that I do listen to some pretty small bands with less than perfect sound engineering. The bass is just insane and I can’t believe something so small can move that much air. Nothing coming out of the computer will be able to compare to that. But unlike Beats product from the past, the bass isn’t overpowering and there’s a great balance to my once again untrained ears. The things that made me pull the trigger were the other features like Apple’s Find My built in, the ability to charge phones and other small devices out of the usb c port, the water resistance, and just the overall nostalgia of Apple bringing back this classic product from my childhood with some more modern technology. Hope this helps!
pretty stupid how the Sony ULT Field 1 does not have an aux wired option aside from Bluetooth, its such an easy thing to add but the speaker only works as Bluetooth and Bluetooth only.
Though I've always loved Sony since Sony Ericsson, this was the final review that confirmed my choice! Surprised you didn't mention the vertical positioning!

Hope this helps everyone trying to make up their minds. Its you who is listening and if you care about sound quality like I do then you have to do your due diligence.
Is there any choice you’d recommend in this price range (or above) for a quality speaker that can get loud? I was thinking about these two, swinging towards the beats pill but it seems okay. Any recommendations because I was thinking about the l Bose sound link flex but it doesn’t have the usb type C and it feels like it might get a refresh soon.

JBL flip is good, but I'd take the Harman Kardon Luna over the flip. Same parent company, but Harman Kardon is the premium version, and the speaker costs about the same as the flip when it goes on sale.
I do have both speakers, and the JBL Flip6 is super good, and very near comparable to the HK Luna. I'd say at high volumes, they sound very similar, but the HK Luna has more full sound than the JBL at lower volumes.
Is this a bluetooth speaker or a phone speaker? The box only says it works with i phone and android. It should work with whatever provides a bluetooth signal.
I had the beats pill returned it next day it's loud but lacks the bass alot for a big speaker I feel like they could've add another woofer to it and tweeter in the middle

I'm waiting for Beats Pill vs UE Boom 4
I have the beats … pill looks dope
Where is jbl flip6?
This video isn’t about it, why would you expect it to be?
Wish someone made good wired pc speakers
IK Multimedia iLoud speakers are my in a pinch small wired speakers.
JBL Charge 5 or Beats Pill ?
Charge 5 is the better speaker and the beats pill is more of a competitor to the flip 6. Charge 5 isn’t very comparable
you are absolute....great mahn for review............ AUDIO......... tech
Thanks!
Owning anything beats in 2k24 is cooked lol. Bears quality dropped years ago .
I keep my earfun uboom L 🎶 best value for money 👍
Woofer it is not sir, its a passive radiator
Grenades for "a quiet place"
Bruh be an engineer and take it apart lol. A frequency response measurement would also be nice
I don't do frequency responses. I'm catering to the masses. Your mom isn't going to know wth a frequency response graph is, lol. I'm doing the opposite of the IT guy talking over people's heads and that is intentional.
@@ThisIsTechToday hmm but your title says you're doing this as an engineer. Doesnt that mean you should provide objective measurement results?
No.
@@ThisIsTechToday weird take but ok
@@ThisIsTechToday oh yeah. Probably should let you know. My mom can indeed read and understand a frequency response graph. My dad can too, if you're wondering.
FIL THE SPEAKER WITH WATER HE SAID
I mean, how could you not? It’s so much fun. Haha
@@ThisIsTechToday you live on the edge haha
I don't get what the point of these are
to play music😂🤦♂️
They produce sound and are small.
The "puting water on it is fun" part just exposes this video being a obviusly paid add 😂 but its kinda funny I guess
So basically the Sony is better
Sony kills the beats pill handsdown.
Sony
most necessarily comparison!😅
