If that is a Pi handheld that is likely the official Raspberry Pi branded screen. It has the same rounded bezel which goes with the Switch-like look.
A subtle way you can tell that the homemade retro handheld market is sketchy is when "this one doesn't catch on fire" is something that needs to be mentioned.

Funny enough you can get a decent android phone or tablet with a good Bluetooth controller that can run almost any emulator cheaper. Or I got one of the lower powered GPD mini PCs for $500 USD and it's a full Window's 10 PC and it can run many emulators very well and I got Dead Space and PSO2 running at least 30 fps on the tiny machine.
I think the design is good. But not $400 good

Just buy a Switch and Gamecube Joycon controllers. Not seeing the point of GC controller layout without GC games tho, as the layout isn't great for other consoles, and the only other universal benefit are the pressure sensitive L/R buttons, which don't seem like a thing here.

I'm doubtful those analog sticks came from a Gamecube controller, same with the d-pad. I don't remember the Gamecube having click in sticks, or the d-pad being so large.
As far as build quality that doesn’t look half bad. The texture makes it clear it’s not made by a typical FDM printer. Possibly SLA or SLA. I bet most of the cost is for the printed case alone.

3:40 That joystick is not from a GameCube controller. It looks a lot more it came from an Xbox controller to the point that Im pretty certain that's exactly what it is.

Anything Pi based is normally overpriced. The only thing i've seen that looks like its worth its money is the Raspberry Pi 400 kit which you can get for around £70
So much wobble on those buttons! Thanks for the video, great to see ones like this that warn users in advance.

Look... This is a great informative video and I don't want to be rude, but everything inside me is screaming "those are Xbox One Analogue sticks!" And "That's a DS D-pad, not a GameCube one!"

For that price on Ebay, I’d put it toward a fully decked out Mister FPGA bundle ..and/or wait for Analogue Pocket. Best 8 to 32 bit retro gaming for the money.

Much better d-pad, analoque sticks and buttons than the switch has. And there is no other raspberry Pi handheld with such a big screen. The Retro Pocket is a bad joke with a tiny display, plus Android without a touch function. That's just enough for Game Boy Games. The most important question: How does it run Dreamcast?
Don’t believe the bad review this dude did it’s a shame that shady people will do anything just for the views.
I personally know the creator of that handheld and there is nothing cheap nor fake about it it was 1 of 1 custom made for someone to his specks he never got paid so he listed on eBay to recoup some of his money. This Dude made it seem like there’s is a lot of them available on the market for sale hence don’t buy it oh it’s a fake switch pro, he never listed it as a switch but as a pi gaming handheld.
The case is 3D printed on a sinterit Lisa SLS printer not FDM way better. It’s a pi4-2gb with the official pi foundation 7inch lcd custom power management for the power hungry pi4 with a 10000 mha battery and to cool it off with a pimoroni fan shim and not to mention the two usb high speed port out. How does it perform well pretty damm good for a handheld. Dreamcast is very snappy with or without overclock.
@@BoostedHeaven Thank you man. Yes, it's a shame. But often Retro Dodos reviews are trash. He just doesn't mention so many facts. It is a raspberry Pi 4 handheld with a 7 inch display! Not just any cheap china retro handheld like the Retro Pocket for example. And there is not a single raspberry Pi 4 handheld with a 7 inch screen on the market. So that device is outstanding.

$500!? That's way more the even a real Nintendo Switch. That's even more then the estimate price of the Switch Pro. These people are starting to get ridiculous
um... Only the A B Y and X buttons are taken from the GameCube, the analog sticks I don't know where they're from (although they resemble the Xbox one controller) and the Dpad looks like the Nintendo DS Dpad (the GameCubes was small and tends to misspress the wrong arrows so this is kinda better)
Yea I chuckled when he said the sticks were gamecube, they don't even look remotely similar. And I can confirm those are indeed xbox one thumb sticks. Curious if they actually ruined an xbox controller to make this garbage lol.

I want something halfway between the size of the RG351m and Switch Lite that can handle Dreamcast and PSP games no problem. Anbernic, make it happen! Bigger means more ergonomic controls, better speakers, faster chips, larger battery, better display. Charge $250 or less and I’m sold!
Anyone know if hacked Switches can play Dreamcast and PSP games ok? I might do that with mine once the Switch Pro comes out this autumn. Just want it to be more pocketable but not as small as my RG351m with more power.

Honestly if someone wants something in this form factor, I'd strongly recommend the ODROID-GO Super for $80, which is officially supported by EmuELEC... I'd just say to replace the analog sticks as soon as you get it with Vita sticks.

Can't remember the brand, but I've seen 3rd party joycons on Amazon with GameCube button layouts. They even looked decent quality.

It's actually really cool. If the price came down like a hundo, and the quality went up a bit, I'd consider grabbing one.
I'll stick with my Odroid Go Super until something with a big screen and more power come out from companies that I trust.

To be honest with you this dude is a straight up liar. I know the creator of that handheld and it was custom made for someone that never paid him so he listed it on eBay to recoup some of his money he never listed or call it Switch Pro
The lcd is the official pi 7 inch. Battery is 10000mha the pi is 4-2gb custom battery management as the pi 4 is a power hungry. Pimoroni Fan sham to keep it cool. He spent hours on fusion 360 to create the case the way he wanted it and was printed on a SLS printer 10 times better then FDM printer name is called sinterit Lisa.

To be honest, Im a 3D Print maker myself and I have to say that the shell is actually printed in excellent quality. The print was purposely textured like that for non slip grip. Its an experimental setting on Cura software called "Furry texture". I understand the 3D plastic is not a perfect material but perfecting a print such as this takes time. Hours, even days. Aside that. I wouldnt buy it, theres other handhelds id invest in like the AYA NEO. lol

Sees the A button is sideways: Well. That doesn't bode well. It would be pretty easy to make that right. And you know, everything else as well. Also, on the note of the handhelds that almost caught fire, how long do you think it'll be before actually usable, affordable PS2 handhelds become possible?
"Affordable" is the big word there. We can't see it happening any time soon, definitely not this year. PS2 Emulation is still in the $400 price range, when will that come down to $200? Who knows. 2023, perhaps? We may have a PS2 handheld coming in within the next few months to show you, but again, not cheap. :(

Those are Xbox One joysticks, GameCube buttons, and shoulder buttons from gawd-knows-where.
The controller sticks are not GameCube the are are there Xbox or an off brand controller for phone

Their selling a raspberry pi (I assume it's the 4 as it shows dreamcast) with a screen for 500! That's a rip off you can make one for 200 maybe less just do that although the shell is nice.
