For $25 it's not too bad! I'll probably buy one and keep it in my bag/pocket for when my Switch or Vita needs to charge. It does say that the volume cannot be adjusted though.

Not correct. The HG-866 is an emulator. I tore one down quite a while back. It's a chinese clone, but not a real GBA. There was another GBA clone from DX.com that this seems to be based on.
I think I'll stick with the RG350, mine finally came a couple weeks ago and I love it

@@mr.n476 when you get it, update the firmware 1st thing, the update fixes a lot of stuff, and find a step by step walkthrough to do it instead of a video if you're not sure what you're doing. Takes about 10 minutes and it's absolutely worth it

Honestly it'd be pretty dope to see this thing being sold in 3rd and 4th World countries so that kids without a lot of money could get into gaming.
It's already been happening for a long time, I bought something like this (same form factor, different color/os) and played with it for some years,
@@AhnafAbdullah I mean if it was sold on street and flea markets, or maybe even electronic stores, a lot of people couldn't even dream to afford a $300 console for their kids, so one that's $30 seems like a great thing for them.

I actually got one , it was the first time I experienced games besides my father PC and Nokia , it also helped me to experience GBA games and Emulation.
And in case you wonder , I live in congo (and my uncle bought me a true PS Vita console and game 3 years later)

The menus look pretty much exactly like the K1GBA/Revo K101, which were full on hardware clones of the GBA that also included emulators for GB/GBC/NES games. I wonder if this is running the same firmware, or even maybe it's got the same hardware on the inside with the proprietary flash cart permanently built in and the link cable port removed. I'd love to see a teardown of one of these compared to a K1/Revo.
This made me appreciate my Bittboy even more. Still love that thing and played it just yesterday! Still love watching these reviews :)

I have to say, for the price this seems really good. It runs well, controls are apparently responsive. Not sure what that dig about the analog sticks was about, the GBA didn't have an analogue joy stick so why would this? Sure the screen is a bit dull but again, it seems to work ok. I would love to plug it into my CRT to see how the output looks. Real GBAs are probably getting more expensive these days as they start to break down.
Just wanted to verify. You tried loading .zip files instead of the rom files for the mega drive.(?) I think the others had the .gb and .gba, etc.
Was it able to run nes or snes?
They're truly pushing the boundaries of 'Advance' with this one.

Well i might buy an emulation device thats cheap because I'm travelling to Australia and i need something to play during the flight, any suggestions (under 50 $)
Buy a cheap Android phone and a Bluetooth controller and you can add any emulator you want.

Odroid go advance is 55 bucks and is way more powerful than rg350
Had this one since maybe 2013/2014. Got it from Ali or DX. System seemed a lot like the Revo. Eventually went in and ripped the speaker wires out, due to the lack of volume control.
Hi, nice video. Wanted to know if it could play NFS Most Wanted, Top Gear Rally or Mario Power Tennis. Because these games have problems running at a decent speed on these chinese Handhelds.

Simply put the GBA bios on the emulator

i use a Sony exsperia z3 phone along with a ipega red knight controller to emulate all my games it only suports 256 gbs though

It’s good enough honestly. I bought a Retromini a year ago(small clear black gameboy with shoulder buttons). That console looked good, but games like Mariocart and some other titles were completely unplayable. You could play Pokémon but it had obvious screen tear. For $25 dollars, I would say this device is more than worth it if you’re strictly looking for a gameboy emulator device. I’m impressed that even the new cheaper quality consoles are getting this good. I think that means the more advanced consoles are gonna make big leaps this year.

seeing its a knock off gba why would it have an analogue stick? it may look trashy but i think itd be great if a kid is into retro games. if it works as a gameboy emu then i think works well despite it being a bit on the lackluster side for looks etc

Why do all bootleg handhelds designed as a PSP or PSVITA
I got one of these for a friend of mine and put on a bunch of gameboy color, gameboy,colecovision,nes and Sega Master System with converted roms. Just convert them to gba files. Great for crap without saves. She was happy with it.
There are actually some emulators for other consoles that you can get for the GBA. People used to put them on flash carts back in the day. None for Genesis though. I think Genesis and SNES were a bit too much for the GBA to handle. Though there were ones for Master System and NES if I recall correctly.
There's one for Game Gear too.

I think it only has a GBA emulator. That would explain why it can do GB and GBC games, it's backwards compatible.

To be completely honest, this is actually a good deal. Its a fake gba, but they actually have gba games on there. For the price, it would be a great way for someone without alot of money to get into gaming.

For 35 that's not terrible actually. Personally, I would (and have) dropped a few more bucks for an odriod go advance or a pocket go 2 but if you've only got 35 in your pocket, why not? Btw funnyplaying sells upgrade parts gameboy so I'm not surprised they sell this pretty nifty gba emulation handheld.

Can you link it or any other brands gba clone that uses sd cards so you can play multiplayer? Id love to play gba against my wife without having to track down 2 real gbas the games and the correct link cables(can gba evwn link gb or gbc games?) Cus that would be awesome...

You can’t sell these Chinese handhelds short before you even try them! The PocketGo is a great example of a cheap handheld that actually works pretty well despite what you may initially think from the price.

I mean, it's neat I guess. But for like $50-60 you can get a Miyoo Mini that runs the games better, and isn't the cheapest piece of plastic ever. It can also play most 8/16-bit consoles really well, and even quite a bit of PS1.
Also, I totally see what it's doing. It's a hardware clone of the GBA that's essentially running a GBA Flash Cart. My EZ Flash Omega has the same GB/GBC emulator on it. Also explains why it has the proper GBA start up when loading a game. Sadly, that DOES mean GBC is gonna have some issues. GBC games have a tendency to crash, as well as not saving your games properly. Zelda Link's Awakening DX on my Omega would glitch out at a certain point, making Link invisible and not letting me move. Metal Gear Solid would just crash around level 2 or 3. And saving the game (both with normal in-game save and save states) would be inconsistent. Sometimes the save would work fine, sometimes it wouldn't work at all. I'd go to load my game and bam, nothing. It ran original GB games fine, but there was still some obvious jittering with the screen (especially noticeable in side-scrolling games like Mario Land), and some screen tearing.
IT ALSO MEANS, you probably want to wait a good 5-10 seconds after a save before turning it off or resetting the console. A normal GBA flash cart needs a few seconds after a save to properly save the file, and if you turn it off too soon, it can straight up corrupt the whole SD Card.
On the plus side though, if it IS running a GBA Flash Cart, you could probably get Game Gear, Master System, and NES games to work on it. There's some emulators you can put onto an EZ Flash Omega that emulates those systems the same way it emulates GB/GBC. But they come with the same issues too.

I mean for 20 bucks and a cheap sd card. You can have like every gba game ever made. If you look at it that way. It's cool that way but obviously theres better ways to emulate gba games. But this machine seems like it would probably last a long time and you could probably play the shit out of it. I'd see the buttons wearing out or something before the machine itself breaks.
