Well well well ...I wasn't really enamered by the diver Jody but this release looks so well thought out. I have ordered the burnt orange on a Jubilee style. This is what Seiko should have made as an update to their SNXS and it puts them to shame. Simply stunning.
Okay, you got me! I've just placed my order for the white face Ascent with the J link bracelet. It did take a while to decide which to get, so many choices.
I had a few problems with the Origin watch, but the Ascent simply left me speechless. Every dial is stunning. I can't decide between the purple, the purple spiral and the orange. Even the plain black looks gorgeus, and both bracelets are beautiful (I have to order both). I think I'm going to have to sleep on it. 😍

I just made the same comment! In fact, I think the font they have used is almost Soviet style and it looks cheap and detracts from the watch. I agree, just use the logo.
Jodi, as I watched your video, I was looking for something that would turn me off from this watch. But I couldn't. You absolutely nailed every concern of mine. Dials - check, hands - 2 checks, movement - check, case finishing - check, bracelet - check, clasp - check, lume - check, AR coating - check, fit - check, look on the wrist - check, price - 2 checks. I literally couldn't complain about anything. Why can't the big brands do what you are doing? I'm amazed that I always find something from them that turns me off from their watches. Well done. You absolutely hit it out of the park! Might I be smelling a GMT in the near future?
Meanwhile Seiko has 'de-contented ' its sub $600 offerings. I can't think of any dress or 'sport' watch short of a Grand Seiko that is any better or prettier than the Erebus or Baltany ( a secret....these 2 have a nicer clasp than GS. Grand Seiko bracelet doesn't taper or microadjust. Lume might be better on these, also)
I think you’ve absolutely knocked it out of the park with the Ascent! Just pre-ordered the black one. Well done, Jody and Mr. P! Excited for the future of Erebus!
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Aqua Terra meets Sarb with a sprinkle of GS at an amazing price without in any way being a ripoff. Many, many congratulations.
What a beautiful Side profile the Ascent has! You can tell the designers have worked hard on this Watch. I particularly liked the Colour matching on the Purple Dial and the Black Helix Dial effect too. Well done Jody.
Beautiful watch and those dials are gorgeous! If I hadn't recently fallen on hard times I would definitely snatch one up. Congratulations on your second offering!
Have to say that I agree with the choice of male end links, to me, they always look better. Female end links do help a watch wear a little smaller, but with a short lug to lug like this, they’re just not needed. Great watch Jody, think I’ll be ordering this one!
Congratulations! First impression is this will be a monster hit! Great design, great attention to detail. Just how much value is packed into the watch, I guess I'll find out once I have one "in the metal.". But job, well done. The hardest part is picking one.
As many others have already said the Origin wasn't drawing me in but this one is a stunner. Thought I was all in on the Orange dial but then that purple dial came on...WOW! Now I have a real decision to make.
Hats off to you Jody, Iust admit that I was not a big fan of the Origin diver, but I have to say this one is absolutely stunning! Finally somebody realizes the side profile of a watch is just as important as thr face of a watch, and I love that it is done in an original manner not overly similar to any existing designs (the curvature and the location of the "waist line" really gives off CW lightcatcher vibes, but the execution is of course very different. Another thing I like about the dimensions is that the dial size is actually not as big as I would expect for a 39mm sports watch. Absolutely amazing work Jody, hope to see this design language incorporated into more future releases and make it "your thing" (again CW, and to a lesser degree, Lorier have both done this brilliantly).
Jody, I've been watching your videos since your early casio reviews with your camera phone. It's amazing to see how far your channel, and now your brand has come. And kudos to the new release which I'm genuinely amazed by. Well done.
If possible (and have enough time left), how about changing the caseback into a display caseback with sapphire crystal? It will add to the thickness, which may help with the protruding quick-release endlink. And we get a nice view of the movement as a bonus. If not then that's fine, it is what it is. Still a gorgeous-looking GADA watch. Love it!
Just wanted to say thank you! as a beginner in the collection game what an amazing packed watch you have designed. Purchased the green helix ascent and can't wait until it arrives! Continue designing and building great watches!
The thing I love most about my Tudor BB41 in blue is the dial is a color outside of the standard RGB. Your brain doesn't exactly know what's going on, but it can tell it's special. Very unique and interesting. It's not possible to tell without seeing them in person since our phones are RGB, but that blue dial really reminds me of that similar color. Very unique and interesting. Absolutely nailed that too!
THIS is what the revival of King Seiko should have looked like. The design language of the ASCENT is clearly inspired by Taro Tanaka's original vision for Seiko and contemporary Grand Seiko, with the flat polyhedral side profile and lugs, the high polish hands and markers, the case finishing and the exquisite dials. The main problem with the new King Seiko was they lacked the appropriate movement, and this is where EREBUS swoops in. Having a 4Hz movement with accuracy around 7 seconds per day is what the Seiko of old would have done back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, when they were absolutely MOGGING the rest of the watch industry. The bracelet integration and clasp, and overall quality is simply extra credit at this point. This watch truly seems to tick all of the boxes, Jody. Well done. This would fit perfectly in between the Presage and the Grand Seiko/ European COSC watches, especially with accuracy of the Miyota 9015. Any established brand would sell this watch for no less than $1500 retail, and that's being conservative.
@@McMaxW You're absolutely right - but it also costs at least 5x more. And the movement is 3hz and less accurate in comparison. Anyways when I see this watch from afar it literally screams king/grand seiko
@@af8828 I think the 6R on a KS was the biggest FU from Seiko to their fan base, ever. What a shame. I owned a 6R baby Alpinist and I was disappointed. Currently I no longer own a single Seiko in my collection... I do own a SBGX261 and I'm not gonna lie, I almost feel like selling to get one of these and keep the change lol
@@El1988Che It would be hard to tell the difference from anywhere further than arms length haha but ofc the GS has a different level of refinement. I think for all their recent faults, Seiko and GS in general have something really special with their heritage lines. I just wish the King Seiko was given a movement that matches the rest of the watch and I'd happily buy it - the case and dials and bracelet were all very good for the price imo.
Hats off with this design Jody! I really like case design, hands are great and the variety of color options 🤎 Helix dials looks very interesting and on top of that strap packs for 50 bucks. Love this!
Any time I saw a negative review of the Origin on TH-cam, specifically criticizing its “blandness,” I clapped back 😂. I don’t think many people understand or appreciated the mass appeal of the Erebus Origin. Being the proud owner of “a jillion” divers it just wasn’t for me, but I had zero doubts that your sophomore piece would be a banger. Congratulations Jody and Mr. P. I blew through my 2024 watch budget in Q4 of last year, but this release has me thinking, “just one more watch” 😉.
11 mm with double dome is absolutely amazing! For reference a watch close to this that own from citizen as my “sarb killer” is 10mm thick no double dome but flat sapphire so that’s more than acceptable that’s damn near spec! I love the dials and colors so much as well 10/10!
That Aventurine looks amazing, but that Green stone one might be my next Erebus. Still loving my Yellow Origin, I wish I could smooth out the caseback on it.
Saw this at the Time+Tide popup in Sydney yesterday and was lucky enough to meet Jody (what a legend). The photos do not do this justice, absolutely stunning watch. Just ordered one :). And this is coming from a watchmaker...
You really have done a great job with this one. The quality of the dials, especially with that applied logo and colour matched date wheels 👌 If you're still looking for people to review them, I'd love to check one out on the channel. Especially that burnt orange, or one of those with the mini logos on it... Very cool effect by the way.
This just screams SARB to me. I have watched this video 3 times since yesterday. I just can’t get enough of that white dial. You guys have knocked this out of the park. I LOVE this watch!!! GREAT JOB 👏🏼
Thanks for addressing the UK tax and shipping. I realise that it’s nothing to do with Erebus and it’d be easier to say nothing, but that wouldn’t be your way. You are the fairest and most honest reviewer on TH-cam - i hugely respect that
I already stumbled upon with the unpleasant surprise some microbrands doesn't tell you have to also pay import taxes (phoibos is one), Jody being upfron about it, is a good heads up to have.
Congratulations Jody. These watches are stunning! I love the purple fumé dial. I’d love to see a white fumé too 😀. Wishing you all the very best with these - your success will be well earned! I hope to be buying one of these once I’ve paid off the 3 watches I have on the go at the moment!
OK... OK... I just bought the blue San Martin Aqua Terra-alike two weeks ago and ordered a full lume Wise Hitman last week... but that white enamel looks pretty darn sharp. I just ordered a white one on the J-style and the blue sport strap pack, most likely for other watches. And, though I don't normally go for Fume type dials, I could see wearing the green one and the burnt orange looks really sharp as well. I can see potentially ordering the green Fume on down the road. Great work guys and best of luck!
Jody, you've knocked this one out of the park. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't a fan of the Origin, but this...this is special. I may have to get more than one. Congratulations.
These are just wonderful. I passed on the Origin and have no regrets (since I have a ton of divers), but no way I'm passing on one or more of these beauties. One niggle on my end... 38 or 38.5mm would have been great(er) for me. I love my SARB033 but these Ascents are right up there and maybe exceed it with that 6 o'clock date window (thank you!).
This is the spiritual successor to the SARB but even better! I have fallen deeply into the watch pit these last two years but am still a university student with a budget to go along with that! This is the first time I am presented with a watch I absolutely love and it is actually within an approachavle budget for me!
I have the black enamel Ascent. For a seemingly "simple" design, I love how the beveled edges of the indices continuously take turns sparkling and reflecting light as you move your wrist...it's alive and full of action. I can't decide if the black enamel Ascent is an exercise in restraint or if it's a wild thing! Whatever it is, I love it and I can't stop looking at it.
Yes, Jody replied to my comment on on the last video regarding that point. It's the only thing that's stopping me from jumping on this straight away.☹️
Well, all governments charge taxes to one extend or another, it's nothing that Jody or DHL can do anything about. The difference is that if I buy something from a company within my country, they are legally required to display the price including taxes.
@@bigdreams5554no, not really. DHL charges me the insane amount of 67€ for shipping to Germany. Taxes are additional. But if I have to pay a fifth of the price of the watch just for shipping, it unfortunately absolutely destroys the value argument. Buying an Ascent will set me back 530€ in total. I can get better watches for that money.
Greetings from Medellin Colombia !. What an outstanding job you did ! .Loved the origin also , but this time had a real bad case of watch crunch and a very hard time picking a dial and also choosing the bracelet ,for I had to have The " One more watch " I waited for so long ; finally went for the Green Helix with the Jubilee.
WOW! This is absolutely stunning. I’m between the aventurine and the black. I can only buy one or else I’ll be dead or divorced 😂. Congratulations on another masterpiece
This watch ROCKS! My biggest problem is simply deciding on which dial and bracelet. To that end, I do have a niggle of my own, that being the omission of a half-link for the Oyster bracelet in order to get that 'just right fit' in conjunction with the adjustable clasp, which, even with 1cm of adjustability, it can still be a 'too loose or too tight' fit. Apart from that, wow, do you ever have a winner with this one. I'm saving my pennies already. Thanks, Jodi, for offering this to the watch world.
Order placed! I got the Adventurine (2 in fact, one for me and one for a gift.) Well done Jody, well done. edit - I also added a Malachite. Mr. G from USA says THANKS mate!

That’s good to hear. Recently commented on another channel re vat/import tax. How do you opt for the Royal Mail delivery option.? I can’t say I’ve seen different delivery options offered.

We are the designers so thank you!
This happens when professionals resolve to make aa amazing watch! Praise and recognition to you and your partner 🎆 👍👍👍
I was looking at these earlier, I'm VERY impressed with the detailing and the specs. A lot of thought has gone into every part. Just lovely!
Very well done; those are lovely and, other than not offering a quartz movement option, near perfect. The white dial is particularly attractive.
Congratulations! First impression is this will be a monster hit! Great design, great attention to detail. Just how much value is packed into the watch, I guess I'll find out once I have one "in the metal.". But job, well done. The hardest part is picking one.
Thank you for framing the date window, big enough to actually see. There seems to be a trend or tiny, non-framed date windows.
Absolutely true! An unframed date window really is obviously a cost-cutting sign neglecting the watch collector's enthusiasm for the object of desire.
Hell yes.
As many others have already said the Origin wasn't drawing me in but this one is a stunner. Thought I was all in on the Orange dial but then that purple dial came on...WOW! Now I have a real decision to make.
I'm here for this! Teasers of the purple dial have my credit card ready!! 😂
Same feelings on the burnt orange.
Never have I ever been so pleased to watch a 20 minute ad. Kudos guys
Well done.
Great looking watch. With an amazing applied logo I don't think you need the printed Erebus under it. Any chance that would get revised?
If possible (and have enough time left), how about changing the caseback into a display caseback with sapphire crystal? It will add to the thickness, which may help with the protruding quick-release endlink. And we get a nice view of the movement as a bonus. If not then that's fine, it is what it is. Still a gorgeous-looking GADA watch. Love it!
Congrats on the new model. The jubilee is a nice touch
Just wanted to say thank you! as a beginner in the collection game what an amazing packed watch you have designed. Purchased the green helix ascent and can't wait until it arrives! Continue designing and building great watches!
Thanks mate! I hope you love it.
I want all of them! How do I decide which one? Congrats Jody! Great offering!
No offense to Jody, but King Seiko is a bit more refined and elegant.
@@El1988CheSounds Like a good idea. 😀
You and I most have the same taste
Saw this at the Time+Tide popup in Sydney yesterday and was lucky enough to meet Jody (what a legend). The photos do not do this justice, absolutely stunning watch. Just ordered one :). And this is coming from a watchmaker...
Thanks Mike! Great to meet you mate!
Wow, these are great looking and elegant. A great job.
Congratulations to both of you.
I wish you an enormous succes with this new release.
Thank you for making the watch we all wanted.
You did great ! 🧡💛
That is a stunning watch, J. Very impressive my friend.
Looks fantastic. I've put my order in, and I'll also make a video when it arrives! Well done Jody and Steven!
You really have done a great job with this one. The quality of the dials, especially with that applied logo and colour matched date wheels 👌
If you're still looking for people to review them, I'd love to check one out on the channel. Especially that burnt orange, or one of those with the mini logos on it... Very cool effect by the way.
Hope you get one for review man... These are nice
@@Jimmy_Cream 🤞 Is there one in particular that stands out for you?
This just screams SARB to me. I have watched this video 3 times since yesterday. I just can’t get enough of that white dial. You guys have knocked this out of the park. I LOVE this watch!!! GREAT JOB 👏🏼
I’m on the waiting list for the aventurine. Thank you Jody and Mr. P.
Congrats Jody, doing a stellar job. I can only imagine the amount of work you and the team are putting in. You guys are an inspiration.
Thanks for addressing the UK tax and shipping. I realise that it’s nothing to do with Erebus and it’d be easier to say nothing, but that wouldn’t be your way.
You are the fairest and most honest reviewer on TH-cam - i hugely respect that
Thanks Nick!
Been a fan of the channel for years, but passed on the Erebus diver... This however is next level! Very stylish and sarbish!!
OK...
There's a new Star Wars planet called Erebus in the Bad Batch show.
It's also the name of one of the ships used in the Franklin Expedition.
Erebus is the god of darkness in greek mythology.
Mount Erebus.
Erebus. Erecar. Eretruck!
Jody, you've knocked this one out of the park. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't a fan of the Origin, but this...this is special. I may have to get more than one. Congratulations.
Wow this is an absolute home run! Stunning 😍
Love the green
which one 😆
This is the spiritual successor to the SARB but even better!
I have fallen deeply into the watch pit these last two years but am still a university student with a budget to go along with that! This is the first time I am presented with a watch I absolutely love and it is actually within an approachavle budget for me!
Just ordered the orange one. No VAT in USA. Under $400 including shipping. Brilliant!
UK? Customs will get you for vat and import duty.
Alright for some, in the UK we can't fart without being taxed.
But you get the NHS... 😉
@@johngilliland3409 the NHS is borderline worthless. It's the biggest tax burden we have for a non existent service.
@@johngilliland3409 true, but the waiting list time is similar to Rolex
Looks like a GREAT lineup of models! I'm thinking hard about the mineral green one...
Damn. Thought the video was ready then saw that I have to wait 6 more hours for it. Jody you're such a tease!
Watch tease - is that a thing now?
Great watches! Are the movements in the watch case held by plastic or metallic holders? Thanks!
Stunning watch, I think you knocked it out of the park on this one.
Very impressive. Hardly anything to not like about these! Congrats and great job to all involved
Please make the next one a chronograph ❤❤❤!
Congrats Jody! Best of luck with the new release.
Order's in! Can't wait 😁😁😁
Thank you!!!!
Please set up a dedicated European shipping option, DHL fees are just too much for some to justify.
Yes, Jody replied to my comment on on the last video regarding that point. It's the only thing that's stopping me from jumping on this straight away.☹️
Is not dhl, it's custom fees. You can thank your government for that
The UK Govt need the money to pay for all the policing of watch crime caused by importing too many nasty immigrants. Fact.
This reminds me of the sarb really excellent job
...And THANK YOU for NOT putting the date window at 3. YAY! Love this watch.
Lovely design Jodi. Dimensions, case shape and such remind me a lot of Citizen's NB1050 line. Well done sir.
Those hands are amazing!
The Ascent is a triumph. Everything a watch lover would want in a GADA sports watch! How satisfying it must be to produce something that good looking with the specs and design features you’ve been asking for from other watch producers over all these years.
Well done. I don’t have to wish you success, i already know it’s going to be a massive hit and you’ll sell out!
I'm stunned, speechless, flabbergasted and mildly discombobulated - I like that Erebus Chronomaster!
Do a minute repeater next.
Nah, it's the 34mm titanium jump hour that I threatened last year mate. Cheers!
@@JustOneMoreWatch Now, that's one hell of a tease. Go on, make a Ti Grade 5 watch , HAQ.
Finally I ordered the white and the burnt orange piece 🤦♂️. Looking forward to them! 🤩 According to the numbers of both orders I placed last night and right now 24h later, I see, that you have orders coming in for at least 100 units every 24 hours 😅
After so long, finally, a beautiful watch at a great price. Love the burnt orange.
However, VAT sucks. I buy a lot from creation watch tracked royal mail delivery, Never been charged VAT/IMPORT DUTY. For UK viewers maybe royal mail shipping could be the better method.
That’s good to hear. Recently commented on another channel re vat/import tax. How do you opt for the Royal Mail delivery option.? I can’t say I’ve seen different delivery options offered.
@@martinowl when you buy from creation watches as you go through the payment stage you select either Dhl or Royal Mail.
Jodi! the Purple Helix is FANTASTIC. That dark purple color is IMPOSSIBLE to find on watches in the affordable range. You nailed it. I just ordered mine!👏👏👏
Jody you are my felicitater. If only it was a solar quartz. absolutely stunning
I have a Megaquartz (Daytona look Pagani) and it's putting me off from automatics. Why bother? I may one day, but to be happy with my automatics I'd need a huge winder cabinet of sorts. The trusted (nearly illegible) Pagani is just there, feels comfy and looks the part. Also a 39. I can totally see a selection of Ascents push it into the margins of my watch drawer.
@@Cloxxki I love all my mechanicals .but it is a chore resetting them after not being worn for a couple of days or when you fancy a change. So I've been looking at citizens eco drive watches as a grab and go watch I do like jodys chronomaster
Honestly, I think the part that stands out to me the most is the strap packs. I didn't hear about them with the Origin release but I'm impressed! It's a great way to offer options to customers with a no nonsense curated selection. Very cool stuff, Jody!!
there will be a quartz option, I hope? 🤓
I can say this seems much better than the Origins. The price is correct too. Congrats Mr P. and Jody, you get it.
