Thanks Russell and Mrs Russell! Great to hear your thoughts mate - as always - and all points noted. Can I book you in now to look at all 26 versions of watch #3? Cheers, Jody.
I disagree with your statement that there are too many dials. Yeah, it might be better for the brand but not for us customers. Thank you Jody for releasing all dials in one go and not taking the Seiko route with loads of special/limited editions! I‘ve frequently felt somewhat left behind by other brands when they launched a much better looking version while I had already bought one of the older ones.
I hear you my friend! The Origin was a huge deal wasn’t it ! The first watch from a starter brand . It feels that the watches dial options have been spent and the team have moved onto the next watch! This one feels that way again! The boys have another watch to get out in 3 months time !! ? An iconic watch needs to time to bed into the psyche. If the Origin and Ascent were to have a passport each , which watch would be the photo?
There is an idea in psychology called the “paradox of choice”: when people have too many many choices, they often end up less satisfied with what they pick.
I do feel there are a lot of dials to choose from. 'Too many'? Perhaps, as I've seen many folks in the group say something similar but I 100% knew I was going to order the white enamel and if I were a touch more adventuresome, the orange fume. To the notion of offering, say, three dials initially then adding five or six more a few months down the road, I think that would turn off more initial buyers.
Knocked it out the park i think. Ref the choice- nothing more annoying than buying a new watch and then later they do a "special edition", so i think they've been super honest releasing all together.
This is a great review with solid points made. I expect Jody and Mr P to use this moving forward and building their brand. This review also reaffirms that your reviews are truly authentic. Great job!
Nice review. I'm personally glad that they chose to give all of the different options at once. I like the idea that I'm not buying the same exact watch in the same exact configuration as everybody else who buys the watch. I think I would have been upset if I only had a couple of color options, chose one, and then a little while later they came out with more exciting ones. I'm glad they did it how they did it.
Thanks my friend! Listen in the whole scheme of things finding someone in your town wearing an Erebus is next to slim!!!;) I don’t think you’d have to worry there!
I think it's ok for the sports watch and divers to differ in look. My first thought was that a submariner and a date just dont have that much in common either. Though I do get the point about brand identity and how some brands have made a real effort to establish their "look". Completely agree that they should have staggered some of the colour releases but also kind of glad as a consumer that they didn't so no colour or style was subject to an arbitrary limited edition scarcity tactic or other marketing ploy.
Although I don’t always agree with your opinions on certain pieces, I appreciate that you kept it real in the last part in the video, when you talked about the brand intangibles, despite your friendship with Jody. It is more than commendable that they launched so many dials and they’re trying to please as many enthusiasts as possible. But branding is also developed by people talking about your releases in anticipation, about possible v2 dial colours, about design language, etc. I too agree that they are so well intentioned in terms of pushing these great watches to as many wrists as possible that they are leaving these more long-term aspects behind.
It’s interesting to see where the brand sits in 5 years from now! I definitely think the brand is here to stay but the identity or character of it needs to be addressed
This is an aside to your excellent review! But I have to disagree about your take here on sports and dress watches. I think most enthusiasts would place watches like the Rolex OP and the AP Royal Oak in the sports watch category, and I'm not sure I'd want to go hiking, mountain biking, or mud wrestling in these. Are we talking about a GADA sports watch or a tool watch/beater/G-Shock? The line between dress and sports watches has definitely blurred, for sure, but I guess I have a more conservative view, and the Ascent is a long way from something I'd consider a true dress watch. 100% a GADA sports watch, though!
Cheers Max! It’s the balance of lume to shiny surfaces on the dial. The watches dial is a dress watch man and op is an all rounder for sure . The Royal Oak is half as shiny as this :) . I’ve handled millions of watches now , it’s just my opinion based on that
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Fair enough! You've convinced me it must be pretty shiny in the metal! I absolutely respect your view, but dress watches to me aren't worn on metal bracelets but on fine leather straps, and look more like a Calatrava or a Tank, for example, than the Ascent does. PS - the EREBUS font alone kills all dress watch potential for me. Fully agree with you that there's an identity crisis going on with these multiple typefaces!
Aye GADA for me is along the lines of what you say Max, as I never go mud wrestling or mountain climbing. I would usually wear a quartz on my bike though but that's about it. For my unadventurous lifestyle, a GADA doesn't need to do too much, just have 100 m WR 😂
It's a casual sports watch that can make a "pass" as a dress watch. Not a high business dress watch or something I would say fits well at a wedding or funeral but it could make do. And like you said it's definitely not a "tool" watch but something you could wear out on a vacation or weekend out on the town... and also wear to work in an office environment. Just might want to upscale to a real dress watch if you are talking business executive/senior management level though.
I definitely get a SARB033 vibes from the Ascent. The SARB is certainly on the dressier side of the GADA watch spectrum so I guess it makes sense. I liked the diver but I am much more of a GADA watch guy so this is very tempting! Jody is a total legend of the watch game so it’s no surprise he and Steve have nailed it once again. Anyone interested in one of these will be getting a cracking watch, I have absolutely no doubt! Awesome show as always MWC 👏👏👏
I ordered that exact blue enamel on an "O" bracelet. I love the look and the specs but I also completely agree with your comments about branding and identity. That same issue is what put me off Marc's Islander range for all this time.
When I think of any current Seamaster apart from the 007 no time to die one and Ploproff! , I think dressy office watch Aqua Terra ain’t doin no sport with me!
Good review! Still looking extremely forward to my two ordered Ascents and I wouldn't have ordered two units if only two dial colors were available from the beginning. Personally, I love the approach. And, by the way, why should two models of a brand have similar crowns or cases? Look at all well established names, they significantly differ from model line to model line too! Well done, Jody!
I agree with you about the Erebus DNA. They should think about it more seriously in the near future. Think less about putting good things from other sources together with minor changes, but more about the originality. I agree that more generic and safer designs are okay at the beginning, but that phase should not last too long. I will buy the Ascent. Just because I like it.
Love the video, as usual. I have to disagree on limiting the number of variants. I have serious LIMITED EDITION FATIGUE! It was refreshing to see so many choices. I bought 2 watches and my wife bought 2 watches. I have skipped buying a watch because I am waiting to see if they come out in a different dial color and now I know not to buy your next watch if I really like it, but I will wait to make sure I can't do without it because you may come out with something I like even better as a "special edition" later.
Hahahahahaha do t have the money of me the thickened skin to own a brand. Hopefully you’ll see a diver collaboration with Radcliffe and it will be using British MOD specifications!;)
I agree with the Lorier comment on making an actual impact to the market. This Erebus brand is just…a brand that’s a good value. It’s just like every other entry level brand though. Good business decision? Most definitely, I could see any average Joe wearing 1 or the other
Definitely agree regarding the font. It just doesn't look right and some brushing on the case would have been more fitting for a sports watch. However, for the price it's still a good buy.
I’m curious, why would you never buy the Aventurine one? I’m on the fence on that one. I think it looks great in photos/video, but I’ve never seen an Aventurine dial in person. Curious about your thoughts. Thanks. 🙏
A date a 6 will always be smaller than a date at 3 or 4, because the numbers have to be squeezed in side by side to fit 31 of them on a date wheel. On a 39mm watch you're not going to get a very readable date at 6, unless multiple wheels are used (e.g. the Mido Big Date Commander). That would raise the price substantially.
Oh my...had a chuckle with the logo comment...LOL nice review for this watch. The black one screams "Seiko, you shouldn't have discontinued the SARB. Now we take all the money." Brilliant watch Jody and Steve. Entertaining and informative review as always TMWC. Agree with your comment on having the designs between the Origin and the Ascent being disjointed, but maybe its just Erebus finding their groove. Let's see what comes next.
I do think your point about the two Erebus models not having a family style is correct. It just goes to show how hard coming up with new original designs is.
Why would you want all the watches to look the same? If high quality is the through line, I'd much rather have that, than the same watch with a different dial/bezel. But Jody does seem to miss something with each watch. The fonts don't look good on the watch, they're clashing with one another.
@@gilbertoflores7397 I'm not saying they should look the same, just they should have a cohesive design language. Your comment on the fonts backs this up to an extent.
Thanks Russell for confirming with such certainty that it is blingy! I was hoping it is very blingy and now I know for sure. Peter Kotsa's review helped me pick the color and dial for my pre-order and you helped affirming that my blingy choice will actually be really blingy😊. Good stuff 👍
I agree with what you said about people buying this watch for the dial. I am one of those people. I was not impressed at the watch in the release video, until Jody showed the purple helix. I ordered one the same day.
Im definitely a bigger fan of this watch then i did the origin i just feel like the prices are a bit crazy to me id still go with a seiko, hamilton, tissot etc over these all day and twice on sunday but once they start hitting the used market ill take a look...love the channel as always💯
@bradleyburton4762 f seiko 200-400 tops new the other two probably 5-7 new but your getting s much deeper history and brand recognition and a better resale value and ifnyou were to go the used route w same specs it would be under that 400ish mark or around at most in my oppinion butnthatsbjust me and to Me for 400 I just don't see the value especially from a brand thats just started hell I almost guarantee pagani has a watch with nearly identical specs for 100 or less outside of some of the dials what's really so special to justify that price,
@@chrissimpson453 that’s what I love about this hobby. There are as many different collectors, as there are so many watches, with so many different combinations of specs and features. Your mentioned preferences, are at the bottom of my list of considerations in purchasing a watch.
@bradleyburton4762 your right about that and to each their own like I said I like this watch I think it looks great and would like to own one I just don't think the price point is justified is all which is why I said I'm going to wait until they start to get sold used and for what from my experience tells me is going to be less the 50% of what they are charging if it was priced at say around 200-250 I'd be all over it and I never said those brands where my preferences although I do love hamilton I was just using those as examples of brands that offer much better value for money in my oppinion
@@chrissimpson453You're not gonna get sapphire seiko with a bracelet as good as this unless you spend thrice the price of this. Same for Hamilton. Maybe you can pull a PRX for twice the price (cause it's got integrated bracelet). That's a lot of money for most people. It's not a matter of 100 extra.
this is surely an Ascent from the previous model. I'm 100% agree with the negatives. you made a good point with sorta brand DNA. they're just another well made homage brand at this point.
Great honest review, thanks. I know what you mean, fewer dials might give Erebus more class, but maybe flooding the web with different dials is like a marketing test to see what works?
Absolutely my friend . I’m more traditionalist y’know a Seiko 62Mas grey dial iconic, Rolex Explorer black dial iconic , Seiko 6139 grey, blue and yellow dials iconic . If the Ascent needed a passport what would the photo be of.
Zelos releases new watches every couple months, and releases many different colorways each time. That approach has not seemed to hurt Elshan at all. Zelos remains one of the most hyped, respected microbrands out there. I have a feeling Erebus will do just fine with their current approach.
I’ve been hanging out for your take on this one as I think the ascent is really nice and despite the current discount it’s still a fair bit of coin to consider parting ways with. Totally agree on the branding comments, just not a big fan of the Erebus font which devalues it a bit for me. The logo seems to look better in 3D at least. I just have to work out if in 5 years time if I’ll be glad I spent this much on this brand of watch. I definitely normally don’t care about brands at all so it’s mostly the font ha ha. Great value for money otherwise!
A good and fair review as always. I think it’s much better than their previous diver and Jody and Steve have nailed the specs for this price. Erebus are certainly moving, or ascending, in the right direction 😂
Just received (DHL shipping ) brand new Ascent with Green Malachite Dial - great watch and looking like a pro , runs great and 100 meter water resistance is great bonus !
I’ve preordered a purple fumé on o style bracelet with black strap pack. I’m very strongly considering adding a white enamel on j style before the preorder period ends 😊
I am new to your channel. That is a truely honest review, you do leave out the negatives, much more honest than the others. Personally I don’t like the Word ‚Erebus‘. It is a dealbreaker.
I really like the watch too, I see it as a sport watch but obviously don't know how shiny it is in real life but wouldn't be much of a problem cause I never plan to roll down a hill with any of my watches anyway, the amount of dial color variation makes it really hard to choose but my biggest put off would be the import taxes, I really like it but not enough to splash 500€ more or less in total, great review and appreciate the honesty
Its fine, i dont need one. Dressysport i think is spot on. At thoes prices its surprising there is a lot of options with that movement about more than you think in the uk. A very good review and balanced, you are right about drip feeding would have given it a longer sale life.
Excellent video as usual. Great comments here pro and con, some really good points there. Keep up the good work (and make sure we always hear your wife's comments as well lol).
I think you voiced some good niggles there. But at the same time, I think it is of Erebus' best interest to move as many watches as they can at one given time, to make it cost effective to produce. Producing more than you can turn around and keeping stock cost lots of money. Personally, I really dislike when companies release a product that you buy in to, only to release a "better and improved" product a few months later. So I much prefer that they are offering all the dials at the same time. That being said, I did not get the feels enough to buy the Origin, but I ordered the green fumé Ascent pretty much right away.
It's great to some good quality clasps and bracelets at this level. A good looking watch that's bound to please a lot of people, given that there are many variations to choose from. The case shape is just ok and really a tried and tested samey looking one. Dimensions are pretty much OK to suit a lot of wrists. I also think releasing a second model so soon in the line up puts me off a little. But as you said and I agree, it's a decent quality watch and if you don't need to pay import taxes, not a bad price. Great honest review
Nice watches from Jody. I do miss the days of Mr Pagani and the good old time tardis though! Those were staples for me to the perfect MWC reviews that I miss greatly.
Hi Russell. You complain about the italic font. To me, that is a pretty obvious tip of the hat to the SARB033, and therefore it is AWESOME by default !! 😄
Great review, but I think I disagree on the number of dials available. I think people, Jodi and Steven included are tired of the limited edition slow release b.s. and I believe they'll sell more as people have a choice from the start. This type of watch doesn't usually do anything for me and with only one or two dials I wouldn't have bought one. But because there were so many my order has been placed for a Purple Helix on a "J" bracelet.
That's a really good point about brand, which I imagine is a really difficult thing to get right. probably needs a lot of over arching design thinking, or design the next 5 watches at the same time. But I think Jodie is making watches for watch fans focusing on features and build quality. maybe over time the Erebus brand will get it's own identity.
Thanks for the review! I was waiting on yours to see if I can make up my mind, i’m torn between black enamel or black helix. Any points to consider from handling the watches that might help me decide?
Great review MWC! I don't have a problem with the brand name, watch model name, or logo. The font on watch model name looks a little like on a SARB 33/35 but that's not a bad thing. The font on the 10 ATM though I don't like and would also prefer 100M, which is fewer characters. But none of this will keep me from buying one. The problem I have is 1 or 2. I really don't need any more watches, but want two of these to fit styles and dials in my collection. Aventurine and Blue Helix catch my eye.
@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Russell, I always watch your channel but somehow forgot to subscribe until today! Even with your reminder to subscribe on every show. I think I just assumed Ix was already subscribed. It's done now though.
Great review! I think you might have talked me out of the watch a little; I have spent my watch budget for the year, and really shouldn’t get anything more now. For me the deal softener is the capacity for scratching given how shiny it is. As you say, might be a little too shiny for a true GADA.
Generally, this is a thoughtful review. However, I do appreciate that Erebus watches offer so many color variations. May I also suggest that different styles on different watch models can be a virtue? At least Tissot, Seiko, Longines, Hamilton, and many other venerable brands seem to think so. I suspect that most watch buyers are less interested in a brand having a consistent aesthetic than the company presenting a range of designs that might appeal. The Ascent logo and fonts are attractive, at least to this prospective buyer. I'm most interested in the black and blue enamel variations. Congratulations to Erebus for this new release!
other than bussines advice and personal taste I can't see any downsize, (for me it would require a little bit of adjustment since this would be my smallest watch and my wrist is masive) the watch is great, Jody and Steve knocked it out the park with this one.
The erebus origin was a safe bet as a dive style watch to start out with, the ascent is much better I think, but still I think it's not unique enough to set it apart from other "dressy field watches". A step in the right direction for sure, but still haven't seen something new that would sell it for me. I kind of agree with you on the dials. Personally, I'd have only kept the fumé dials in 2 colours (e.g in blue, orange), 2 enamel (black and white) and leave the aventurine and helix versions for later as a specialty release.
I really like the watch and the value is undeniable. Import the a is a bummer though and Russ' points are all very valid, especially the design language stuff.
I like it alot. But what a massive selection of dials as you said. Cestrian master series kind of only slightly better made and movement. With import tax on the Erub the Cestrian being a UK brand clinches it for me as the gada watch on a budget.
I think you're right about having 12 dials and 2 bracelets to choose from, so I envisage that the less popular ones won't be around for long. As the quality of everything is very high, I think that any 'discontinued' versions are likely to increase in value. On another note, the 'special' dials could have been presented as different releases, each one in a variety of colours. For example, imagine the helix style also in white, pale blue, aquamarine, then later on, 4 aventurines!
I agree with you about the brand identity. Jody clearly understands what the watch collecting community like and look for in a watch, so both releases have been checking all the boxes - but perhaps that takes away the charm of a unique identity.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR lack of marketing blurb, fabricated brand stories, maybe? A watch brand by a watch enthusiast, for enthusiasts, checking all the boxes there are! I still value the unique design features in watches though
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTORit's a bit like a Lamborghini. When the car was a bit worse before audi/vw take over, it was a better and more exciting car! Partly coz it had worse handling, unreliable and a bit slower. Humans are strange! Haha
Enjoy your videos. You add Pop to the watch community. Have you had a look at the Adamascus AD7. Similar but not the same, a bit more expensive but probably aiming for the same market. Nice job by Jodi. Take care Broman
I love this watch, Jodie and his partner did a phenomenal job all the way around. The only thing I wish is that they would offer the bracelets as a separate purchase option for those of us that are torn between the J and O style. In fact, that would give customers the ability to almost have two watches for a little more than the price of one. Are you listening, Erebus?
Nicely balanced review. I love the obvious quality and the dial designs but agree that this is more a dress watch than a sports watch. That's what is holding me back from placing an order, as I just don't wear dress watches these days.
Jody as I recall owns an Omega AT and a Sarb033 and you can see a lot of the influence of both in the Ascent - right down to the italic font which is also a bone of contention for some on the Sarb. I think overall they knocked it out of the park with this one, you can tell it’s made by an enthusiast as so many ‘moans and niggles’ you find on other watches of this type have purposefully been considered in the design. I think this watch can compete with the CW Sealander. Myself I won’t be getting one, as a fellow AT owner I don’t need it and by the time you’ve added delivery and import duty to the UK the shine wears off a little. Good luck to Jody though, he’s a top bloke.
A superb watch from Jody and a bargain too, but I have to say your review was so well balanced spot on Russell, particularly your observations about identity and brand family connections. What the Wife said, always makes me slightly anxious beforehand but she has an uncanny knack of cutting through the froth to deliver a laser sharp killer response. Logo like a cats arse, yikes! that’s gonna hurt but hey, she’s spot on.
I do like this watch. And the origin too. But you're right on tha fact that they are kind of "disconnected". Love the offering of dials but 12 it's honestly too much. Just pick 4 of them and make them unforgettable.
I love it. IF I did not already have a Seiko SARB and a CW Sealander plus the import duty (to the UK), I would snap it up. The Helix dial is beautiful and (unlike me) I like the black. I kinda see where you are coming from with ‘too many all at once’ however it gives you choice and I can’t argue with that. The wife’s take on the logo did make me LOL though 😂 … sorry Jody.
These look very nice indeed. If they applied the Erebus logo onto their divers, I think that would be a boss move and definitely a watch I'd buy because everything else looks perfect.
I disagree with putting a limit on the dials, it’s absolutely amazing that they launched all 12 options!!! For dial people like me, having a dial to choose from the beginning is super important! 😁
Totally agree on the amount of dials and the bracelets, I think 3 dials would have been good. Blue + white on oyster bracelet and black helix on the jubilee. Then release as another 3 in 6-8 months
or should I say Superlative review as usual MWC! Agree with most things, the quality definitely looks great and they need to sort out the branding before it becomes like CW. Less choices would be good, but they will still sell, however your marketing brain would be useful to them. I don't believe they have as much character as the mad hacker, but they are great watches. You can't lose being so similar to a GS, but I think they need to find their own identity. 👍
My concern is that I have a large wrist and if this looks more like a 38, it might be too small. I have a few 38s and they don’t get much wrist time because they look tiny. Fingers crossed that the black helix I bought doesn’t look tiny on my wrist.
Very much like Russell I love the look of the watch, the choice of dials and the look of the two bracelets. Luckily I can go for two versions, I have gone for the black enamel on oyster and orange fume on jubilee. I am still torn between the orange and the green fume. The dimensions are perfect for my wrist. The Miyota 9035 is definitely an upgrade on the NH35 movement currently offered by a lot of other microbands. The origin though nice just didn’t quite do it for me. I already far too many divers. Also the DHL variance in the import duty to UK didn’t quite do it for me. Really looking forward to getting both versions of this current release. September can’t come quick enough.
What a great review. I appreciate the fact that these watches are well made but but I don't feel the love. As you say the Erebus Brand seems to based on soley on ticking boxes in order to provide the best watch for the money. Admirable, but your comparison with Lorier was well founded and very insightful.

Thanks Gareth!
That Ginza style "helix" dial is stunning 😯
I ordered that exact blue enamel on an "O" bracelet. I love the look and the specs but I also completely agree with your comments about branding and identity. That same issue is what put me off Marc's Islander range for all this time.
If you think of Grand Seiko, it's a dress watch.
If you think of Omega Aqua Tera , it's a sport watch.
When I think of any current Seamaster apart from the 007 no time to die one and Ploproff! , I think dressy office watch Aqua Terra ain’t doin no sport with me!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Completely agree.
Congrats my friend and absolutely
Releasing dial varieties over time and limited editions are two totally different things...
I pre-ordered the malachite and aventurine - seemed to go better with the overall design aesthetic. Bracelets look awesome at this price point.
I don’t usually go this way, but I’m going blingy for this watch. I love the Purple Helix dial on the Ascent.
DO IT!!!!
I ordered that on the Jubilee. Can't wait to see it come in August or so.
It’s an awesome value proposition
Spot on...
Thanks for the great review! We love our cats bum here at Erebus!
I think she only said that as she couldn’t find anything to moan about Steve! Well done incredibly made watches!
Thanks mate - we sweated on that one a lot!
I’m curious, why would you never buy the Aventurine one?
I’m on the fence on that one. I think it looks great in photos/video, but I’ve never seen an Aventurine dial in person.
Curious about your thoughts.
Thanks. 🙏
The dial while awesome and looks like a galaxy far far away just distracts me from seeing the time my friend
I'm a toolwatch guy so the Erebus is more of my thing. The only mineral dial I would even consider in a more dressy watch would be a labradorite dial.
Besides the finishing, what makes a GS is the movement. Nice watch this, but no comparison.
Final someone who says the date is to small, Thank you I will wait for the next offering
The cat's bum is the new dog's bollocks!
How much do you think A Seiko, Hamilton, and Tissot would cost, with these specs?
Nearly choaked on my slice of pizza when quoted the wife's opinion especially the logo comment regarding it resembling a cats jacksey !! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I did buy the black enamel in the end haha. Can’t resist a bargain.
A good and fair review as always. I think it’s much better than their previous diver and Jody and Steve have nailed the specs for this price. Erebus are certainly moving, or ascending, in the right direction 😂
Definitely my friend thank you!
Just received (DHL shipping ) brand new Ascent with Green Malachite Dial - great watch and looking like a pro , runs great and 100 meter water resistance is great bonus !
I’ve preordered a purple fumé on o style bracelet with black strap pack. I’m very strongly considering adding a white enamel on j style before the preorder period ends 😊
congrats my friend!
The helix and mineral dials look nice. Agree that releasing so many different dials at once seems like overload.
I am new to your channel. That is a truely honest review, you do leave out the negatives, much more honest than the others. Personally I don’t like the Word ‚Erebus‘. It is a dealbreaker.
I really like the watch too, I see it as a sport watch but obviously don't know how shiny it is in real life but wouldn't be much of a problem cause I never plan to roll down a hill with any of my watches anyway, the amount of dial color variation makes it really hard to choose but my biggest put off would be the import taxes, I really like it but not enough to splash 500€ more or less in total, great review and appreciate the honesty
wife's comment killed me 🤣
Its fine, i dont need one. Dressysport i think is spot on. At thoes prices its surprising there is a lot of options with that movement about more than you think in the uk.
A very good review and balanced, you are right about drip feeding would have given it a longer sale life.
Thanks TB!
I REALLY love these, very easy to put with any outfit and the dimensions are stellar. I’m getting one
Bet you they come up with a slimmer Origin
Great video Russ.i think you are right with to many dial choices .. should do what CW do and introduce them in gradually.
Cheers Tickers!
Cheers as always my friend
Which colour is best please tell from India plan for purchase
100% accurate on brand feel. And yes way to many dial options but all stunning
The American accent in the price drop. I love it 🤣 I smiled.
Much love from across the pond in WI 🧀
Nice watches from Jody. I do miss the days of Mr Pagani and the good old time tardis though! Those were staples for me to the perfect MWC reviews that I miss greatly.
Pagani is back this week;)
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR All hail Mr P! :D
Absolutely
Thanks for the review! I was waiting on yours to see if I can make up my mind, i’m torn between black enamel or black helix. Any points to consider from handling the watches that might help me decide?
The Helix is great . You don’t notice the pattern every time you look at the watch. Its unique to Erebus and I think I’d choose that one
Helix is more special.
Cheers Larry!
@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Russell, I always watch your channel but somehow forgot to subscribe until today! Even with your reminder to subscribe on every show. I think I just assumed Ix was already subscribed. It's done now though.
@@larrydalton2205 a gent appreciate that and welcome aboard FINALLY!!!!
I think the Helix is here to stay . Very unique to Erebus
The black Helix dail/jubilee combo is amazing.
I agree with you about the brand identity. Jody clearly understands what the watch collecting community like and look for in a watch, so both releases have been checking all the boxes - but perhaps that takes away the charm of a unique identity.
It’s so hard isn’t it my friend! Sometimes the lack of something in a watch adds to its character . But what that could be ????;)
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR lack of marketing blurb, fabricated brand stories, maybe?
When you look at the Aqua Terra, do you consider that a dress watch or a sports watch?
Appreciate your perspective even when we don’t see eye to eye…
Glad you really doubled down on the negatives!
Just revisited the Erebus website and the cases definitely look more brush finished, which I prefer. Maybe the production models won't be as shiny!
I’m not sure my friend! The polishing is fantastic and a big selling point
Nicely balanced review. I love the obvious quality and the dial designs but agree that this is more a dress watch than a sports watch. That's what is holding me back from placing an order, as I just don't wear dress watches these days.
You know a field watch is coming!
I would think that a different strap could make it whatever I’d want it to be.
Is the quality comparable to Laco for instance?
It felt like a thousand pound Longines matey
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR that sounds great. Cheers
I ordered the Black Helix. I can't wait.
They literally offer everything you’d need here my friend! Thank you
These look very nice indeed.
Although I prefer the male end link because it feels sturdy, I feel like the end link is designed to be too long.
congrats, i was hesitating about the blue enamel, now i’m sure it’s a want
1 comment has me wondering.
Regarding the polish wearing off easily ..any reason for concern ?
I don’t see how the polishing would wear off my friend???
Hey MWC, any chance you know of any good rubber straps for BB58? Cheers
or should I say Superlative review as usual MWC! 👍
Cheers Stu!
So is the SARB017 a dress watch or a sports watch? Polished bezel…sunburst dial…shiny gold hands… bad lume…
Infinitely preferable to to the aliexpress photocopier watches. This is a winner, if the quality control is up to scratch .
I couldn’t agree more on offering too many iterations. It really cheapens the brand, brands release the same watch in 20 different dials. A+ review
My concern is that I have a large wrist and if this looks more like a 38, it might be too small. I have a few 38s and they don’t get much wrist time because they look tiny. Fingers crossed that the black helix I bought doesn’t look tiny on my wrist.
Definitely wears smaller than a 39
Sarb033 + Aqua Terra 🤔. Black enamel and helix dials looks good to me. Nice release 🎉
Thank god for the dial options with this watch
Second video on the trot that's absolute mustard 😊
Great job Russell. Always a great laugh.
