"One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with Griffin McElroy, Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to Griffin McElroy. The more I watch this the more I realize the genius behind Brian writing three entire broadway songs, a lecture, a dance, and performing it all from memory without stumbling in front of a crowd.
Brian goes through the entirety of the Hero's Journey throughout this performance. 1. The Ordinary World - Brian has heard the original Pokerap 2. Call to Adventure - Brian gets idea to create the perfect Pokerap/song 3. Refusal of the Call - There's 812 pokemon, it's impossible to say or the enforcers will thrash Brian 4. Meeting the Mentor - Richard Wagner and his understanding of the gesamtkunstwerk 5. Crossing the Threshold - Brian begins the writing of the perfect Pokerap/song 6. Tests/Trials - Brian struggles to fit all pokemon in anything less than 4 hours 7. Approach the Innermost Cave - Brian can't figure out how to make this song manageable, even after cutting all of the acts 8. Ordeal - Brian gets PTSD from Kevin Punt taking Terry away 9. Seizing the Sword - Brian accepts audience participation 10. The Road Back - Brian struggles with the performance (as indicated by the few times he had to take a breath) 11. Resurrection - Brian's performance has immortalized Terry the Tangela and destroyed Kevin Punt for good 12. Return - It's over, Brian has become more accepting of audience participation, and has come to terms with Terry's unfortunate kidnapping. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
For anyone confused: the rough definition of “gesamkunstwerk” is “total art.” When all the art forms come together to create something superior to all art. For example, Wagner’s operas.
It is to be said that Wagner's Gesamtkunstwerk is only concluded with an extra component: geography. There is one special location on this planet where Wagner's magnum opus, the Nibelungenring, can be experienced as a Gesamtkunstwerk: The Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus in Bayreuth
He's literally always been like that. I went to middle and high school with him, and I don't think he's ever missed a chance to be on stage and make people laugh.
I've been following this incredible wholesome boy since his own youtube channel was at 1k subs, he's absolutely goin places. He's too good for polygon's youtube channel (and I don't mean that as an insult to this channel, BDG is just on another level).

@@MajorSkalle as long as the battery has just a tiiiny bit of juice left you can replace it with a new one if you're careful enough. THERE'S STILL A CHANCE FOR TERRY, WE CAN SAVE HIM!!
I disagree, Male peak performance is an individual who is physically powerful as well as intellectually powerful, good with words, confidence, strength, empathy, etc. This is just a dude good with matching words, kids memorize pages of presentations in grade school, the ability to memorize names, words, structured sentences is in us all and a lot of us still do it. He is good though, lot of men out there are great at what they do but if we talk the "peak" of any sex, we have to look at the one extreme. A bodybuilding theoretical Physicist with a loving home life would be a Peak male. But that is a LOT of work, would create stress and would turn that peak male into something bad quick, we're humans. We're limited. For example, a Woman saying "I can do everything a man can", I reply by saying "Impressive, because I can't". We are animals, we all can specialize in certain fields but our brains and body, plus the little time we're here, limits our ability to reach the "Peak". So whats more realistic? A health toned male, respectful, reliable, has integrity and dignity, confidence, works hard at their Career/specialized field, has his flaws, but loves his family and friends and always tries to be there for them. But now this is my definition. So.. what is the peak?
Brian I think you've made an e3 presentation - Musical number - Business gamer fashion - Blazer - Gamer shirt - Human performers - Lots of numbers - Groundbreaking, Never been done before, Seems impossible, but we're did it. - What? Hell yeah! What? - Recounts (many) childhood memories - Gets a little choked up. - Technical Gaffes - Human Gaffes - Planned Gaffes - Big finish
Every time I watch (this 33 minute presentation about once a week, the song only at least once every 2 days) I lament the fact that 2/3 of this is spent explaining the process (very entertainingly) just to stuff half the pokemon in the audience participation part
BDG has killer pitch control. Even after a solid 32 minutes of all-out, almost solo performance (which is ridiculous, might I add) I can still hear him working so damn hard to maintain and I'm impressed at how well he does! Not only funny, but pretty damn good musically.
So BDG didn't just *leave* Polygon: he was killed by Matt for not producing a verbal pronouncement of the name Dialga during the rap, and hat to make a Pact to be resurrected which explains the style of his own channel after he left.
So it’s like it incorporates every art form via theatrical performance? Perhaps like a certain German opera writer?? As described by a very long German word????? 🤔
Brian: I want to put an educational section in, you know, teach a message Polygon: Oh cool, that sounds like a good idea! What did you have in mind- don't drink and drive, eat healthy, something else? Brian: Big Pharma is the root of our country's opiate problem.
Plot twist: The real "Kevin Punt" sees this video, realizes it's about him, goes back to his parents house to search through his old stuff, finds the one Pokémon Red-cartrigde with Terry on it, contacts Polygon and offers to trade it back to BDG, resulting in the most heartwarming reunion in TH-cam-history. Or, Kevin being Kevin, he released Terry the second he got him.
More likely the save's long gone when the battery died, since the early cartridges used battery power to store their save games before flash memory was created.
@@NickTheGreatAndPowerful It is pokemon red, so doesn't use battery power. It is gen 2 games which run out because of the clock. Terry could still be alive.
@@timeluster Gen 1 also used batterys for saves(all cartrigde based games with saves used batterys, that was the only way to make CHEAP saveable games as non volatile rewritable memory was expensive back then so they just Volatile memory(aka if power gone it ded) )just WAY less power then Gen 2 with its internal clock
the amount of foreshadowing, dramatic tension, comidic timing, actual musical talent, clever writing, natural and compelling acting, and everything else that goes into this performance makes this so much better than almost every work of art of any kind that I've ever seen. i true gesamtkunstwerk.
Mleqa . It is a real German word, used multiple times throughout the video as foreshadowing for the pokerap. Honestly, without all the context, the pokerap would’ve been a lot worse. Everything he says is foreshadowing the pokerap and necessary to understand half the things he references in the pokerap.

7. Approach the Innermost Cave - Brian can't figure out how to make this song manageable, even after cutting all of the acts
8. Ordeal - Brian gets PTSD from Kevin Punt taking Terry away
9. Seizing the Sword - Brian accepts audience participation
10. The Road Back - Brian struggles with the performance (as indicated by the few times he had to take a breath)
11. Resurrection - Brian's performance has immortalized Terry the Tangela and destroyed Kevin Punt for good
12. Return - It's over, Brian has become more accepting of audience participation, and has come to terms with Terry's unfortunate kidnapping.

Basic Storytelling
Never thought I'd see an Unraveled of an Unraveled but hey, here we are.
For anyone confused: the rough definition of “gesamkunstwerk” is “total art.” When all the art forms come together to create something superior to all art. For example, Wagner’s operas.
or this pokerap
@@GDNashit well of course, that goes without saying
It is to be said that Wagner's Gesamtkunstwerk is only concluded with an extra component: geography. There is one special location on this planet where Wagner's magnum opus, the Nibelungenring, can be experienced as a Gesamtkunstwerk: The Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus in Bayreuth

Brian is going places. You can tell he lives to perform. ESPECIALLY about information nobody really needed or wanted.
We're on the ground floor of the next big thing, for sure. The next Bo Burnham? The next Lin-Manuel? The next Conan?

This is what peak Male performance looks like.
For real tho
it truly is
I disagree, Male peak performance is an individual who is physically powerful as well as intellectually powerful, good with words, confidence, strength, empathy, etc.
@@sacr3 I disagree, this is without a doubt peak male performance

So it’s like it incorporates every art form via theatrical performance? Perhaps like a certain German opera writer?? As described by a very long German word????? 🤔

As an addict in long term recovery- Brian threw me for a loop with that one, and I love him even more for it 😊
Plot twist:
The real "Kevin Punt" sees this video, realizes it's about him, goes back to his parents house to search through his old stuff, finds the one Pokémon Red-cartrigde with Terry on it, contacts Polygon and offers to trade it back to BDG, resulting in the most heartwarming reunion in TH-cam-history.
Or, Kevin being Kevin, he released Terry the second he got him.
More likely the save's long gone when the battery died, since the early cartridges used battery power to store their save games before flash memory was created.
NickTheGreatAndPowerful RIP terry
But Kevin, being reformed, replaced the batteries on his game and found a new Terry. It won't be the same, but hopeful his apology will be accepted.
@@NickTheGreatAndPowerful It is pokemon red, so doesn't use battery power. It is gen 2 games which run out because of the clock. Terry could still be alive.
