In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods. Now, we're taking the plunge into BOAT LIFE!
We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. And as much as we love cabin life we've definitely been craving an adventure so we moved onto a boat for 72 hours to explore the Rideau Canal system!

Amazing how our accents adapt to where we are and who we are conversing with.
I am jealous I love being on the water. I think that my husband gets seasick. But yes please continue doing some more series on the boat would love to see you go all the way to Ottawa on the boat there would be awesome.

I would LOVE to watch a long trip from Ottawa to the Lake, that would be wild.
What a fun video! It's cool to see a take on boat life that feels much more accessible to the regular folk. Money-wise, sure, but also just being on a lake/canal, which most everyone is reasonably near, rather than on the ocean. Loved the tent on a boat, too. Looking forward to more!

I love how you have such freedom. You travel the world. You bought the land in the cabin. You spent thousands on fixing the cabin. You bought the truck and now you've bought a pontoon boat! You have the resources that many of us would love to have to live the life we dream of

Uugghh my grandparents lived in the boonies and her directions were similar. This was well pre cellphones days. "Turn left at the two trees". Could not find...could not find....could not find . We finally turned at the one tree. "Ooohh yeah, the one tree got hit by lightning a while back".

Did you guys win a lottery? You must have an incredible income - seems every time I turn around you purchased something expensive. Not being critical, just surprised. I can only guess that your tea business and TH-cam must pay very well.

I think you underestimate how much YT pays when you have a LOT of followers. Plus they have a business and they’ve had no mortgage for years. They work hard for their lifestyle, & would’ve factored in buying a boat when deciding to live on a lake.
@@liamhurley1513 they’re in the forestry area of ontario, and from what I can tell they have a total 13% tax. Which is the same as Manitoba, and boats here are very expensive. Hope that helps!

My boy is 6 years sober, and we have favorites : Heineken 0.0, beck's non-alcoholic 0.0 from Germany, odoul's amber served with ice and lemon like a British Shandy, kronenbourg 1664 blanc alcohol free(French wheat beer with citrus apricot and peach), and Red racer IPA Street legal (careful regular and non alcoholic cans look very similar)

We give directions in the form of minutes. Like, “it’s just 5 minutes down the road” and that is oddly more accurate than trying to guess miles or kilometers 😂🤷🏻♀️

Happy Birthday Bec! Glad you found the boat launch :) I was yelling "next left" as you went around the bend. It would be amazing to see the Rideau canal from Ottawa to Kingston. There are soooo many historic places you could stop at along the way. Perhaps walk a little ways into each town around the locks and ask people why their town is best or what is historically significant about it.

This is great!!! We've said this 1000 times but we'd love to have some laughs with you onboard with us. I was about to come recommend they include a disclaimer not to water sport without a spot! I didn’t realize it was illegal in places. Makes sense though, it’s pretty dangerous.

Just a reminder that it's illegal in Ontario to pull someone on a wakeboard without a spotter. You are required to have three people. $305 fine

honestly there is a fine for everything now a days. I reckon just send it but there is always someone to point it out.
@@jgunston My neighbor told me it's because you need one person to drive/watch the front and the other person to watch the wakeboard. His friend ran a swimmer over with a boat and killed them because he was watching the wakeboarder instead of looking in the front to see where they were driving.
@@jgunston This isn't a friviolous fine. A tourist almost ran over my sister when we were kids because he was watching the person he was pulling and not where he was going. He got lucky and just missed her. It might be worth the fine, but it isn't worth having to live with accidentally killing someone.

In Canada, do they let you water ski/board without having two people in the boat - a driver and a spotter to keep an eye on the person in the water? They don’t down here. Just saying since I did see the “Oh, we need permits?” Episode.

I just realized that I am very different from Amon and Bec when dealing with difficult life situation I turn to food for comfort and they turn to buying high dollar distractions. Pandemic strikes and they are caught out of Canada so they leave their van and fly back to CA where they buy a new van and rebuild a better one. After all the stress they decide they are burned out and first thing they do is buy a cabin and are happy for a while but here comes another challenge in the form if inspections and they go out and buy a boat. I wonder what their next adventure will be when the inevitable next life crisis comes. What relieves stress for them would cause me more stress. I guess that is why I like watching them.

Of course! We’ve both had our licenses for years now 😊. Eamon actually grew up working at a marina… hence the sweet trailer/parking skills!
