Hi Adam. Would you suggest the paint protection and interior package with this car. I was told from a lady at the dealership today without it I can't take the car through a car wash ? Sounds abit ridiculous to me...
@@treestrip9752 Whatever you do, avoid these protection packages from dealer as they are overpriced so that they can get a commission. My strong recommendation is to get ceramic coating done at a professional detailer elsewhere - it will be easily half the price, they will use proper up-to-date products, and you will get a proper warranty too (usually 5-7 years). Interior protection is not worth it as there are better spray on SiO2 products you can buy off the shelf nowadays that are easy to apply. For reference, my dealer said for them to apply ceramic coating with an unknown product it would cost $1200 (!!!), but I got a far superior 9H coating and 1-stage paint correction done at a local pro detailer for $500 with a known product. The pro detailer even gave me a free loan car to use while they had my car, and the coating is rated to last min. 3 years all the way up to 5 years with monthly washing. As for a car wash, yes I'd suggest avoiding brush car washes at all costs (scratches all over and can damage wiper blades), and using touchless/self serves in a pinch. But if you have a ceramic coating applied to your car professionally, washing your car with a hose and some good car wash at home is muuuuch easier and takes 15 mins or less. And, because of the coating you only have to do it once a month or even less. :)

SCC Response means how quickly the car will accelerate to the set speed again after the obstacle is out of your way. Setting it to fast means that your car will pick up speed a lot quicker after your lane is clear from traffic. It does not affect how quickly it brakes. We got the Proceed GT here in Germany which should be the closest comparable model to the Cerato GT and the dash menu is exactly the same.

I've had mi e for almost 2 weeks and I'm quite impressed with what you get for the price. If I was to suggest an option for people is make sure you get mats. Im enjoying working everything out and giving it a run. Really good video :)
I just bought one (pending finance) test drove and it was so much nicer to drive than the other small cars in the market (in my opinion) Very excited to get it

@@morphix007 was listed at 36 around me but also saw the 34.5 on website, after a month of searching for one in the colour I wanted we settled on 33 haha. Yea got mats tank and boot protector thing and a free warrenty on the tyres and rims.
Your video just confirmed what I already knew... I love my cerato gt hatch :) had it for about 3 weeks now...as other commenters have said I feel like KIA definitely put effort into its design really well made video too btw 👍
I tested drive between Cerato Sport+ and GT and I would say, GT is so much more enjoyable to drive. So I ended got the GT few months ago and so happy with it so far. The only down side is when you drive in the sport mode, the car produces fake noise inside the cabin. But for the current price, no complaint!
You are right, I also tested both and the 2.0 na engine reminded me of my old i30 too much. Because I got a resonator delete on the exhaust I removed the fake noise generator and now it is sooo much more pleasant to drive in all modes, you should do the same too so you can use sport mode more enjoyably!
@@iDreamDance did you get a mechanic to remove the resonator? If you do it yourself, would be nice if you can share how-to video with all of us on TH-cam? 😊
@@bonievong1714 yes I got a pro exhaust shop to do it as I can't weld, and they can usually do it quickly and cheaply. But I believe if you're up to it you just need to cut it out and then weld in a straight pipe 🤗
the GT model is nice but take away that and it's a rental car, which I couldn't have. So I got the SA Focus ST-Line and love it! So smooth and so much fun to drive, looks great too.
I own one of these and have watched many vidoes about it, mostly relating to the overseas Forte which has features different to the Cerato GT sold in Australia. I was pleasantly surprised that I learnt a couple of new features I was unaware of. Nice one

Nice in-depth review! What a shame that we don't get the Forte version in a hatchback in the USA... it's gorgeous, almost to the point of perfection IMO, not to mention much more practical.
Thank you for the very comprehensive informative review. I also have a snow white pearl Cerato GT, but mine is the sedan (identical except for the boot and rear end obviously). This would be a great video for those too lazy to read their owner's manual and have no idea what certain switches are, or what modes or settings mean, you described them ALL very clearly. I've had mine for about 10 months now, just passed 6,000 kms. I'm very happy with everything about the vehicle, with one small exception. I think the horn is a bit tinny. I'd like the horn to be a bit noisier. I know it's fairly easy to fix, but I'm reluctant to do anything whilst still in warranty. I DID however have the dealer install a front and rear dashcam (got them to install a Street Guardian that I had purchased separately). I got paint and interior protection and a "Schmick" package that fixes minor scratches and gutter rash wheel scrapes very cheaply. (PS next time look under the hood...that does matter to some prospective buyers). This video was linked on the Kia GT owners Facebook page. Excellent work. A great review. You got a +1 like from me.

I just want to thank you for the very informative video. I currently have a 2003 2.0lt manual, Elantra Hatch and of course it doesn't have all the great gear that the new cars now have, but it's the shape I like and the seats fold down completely flat for when I need to move things, it also has a sun roof, rear spoiler, ABS brakes and I had a new stereo, with subwoofer and hands free mobile phone, installed, so I have been loathe to part with it as I don't like all the boxy looking vehicles on offer today. I've only just discovered the Kia Cerato GT + but wasn't sure about buying it until I just watched your video. I'll definitely take it for a test drive to check out the suspension issues, first though, as I am wary of rough riding vehicles affecting my neck and back, but otherwise I now really want to buy the 2021 model of this car. Thank you so much for sharing this review, it's the best one I have watched.
I got the Cerato GT sedan, I personally think it has a better rear. I also had mine cut and polished before having the ceramic coating applied, it now constantly has a wet look to it so SHINY. These cars are so much fun to drive and they sound great stock.wished I could add pics of mine but oh well. It’s an awesome car enjoy it.😎
Watched and compared so many reviews between the GT and the i30 n line premium, and honestly after test driving both back to back the Hyundai has nothing on the GT. Bought the GT straight after the test drive, heck bought it in my head as soon as I opened the drivers door. Not sure what KIA did but their engineers did some great tuning.

Yes there's a sequential LED indicator that replaces the entire housings for the front available from AliExpress, although most people who have it said it's a little bit too dim for daily use.

How is the ceramic coating now ? Right now in Melbourne you pay a premium to get this car it goes for above $45,000 AUD after adding dashcam, ceramic coating and protection for the seats
To be honest I wouldn’t worry about the protective film over the headlamps unless you’re going bush bashing with it or long highway trips… cause let’s face it $75 to $80 is extremely steep for a thin sheet of material like that
Congratulations! I turned off all the map alerts through the settings (I think there's something about alert sounds in the navigation area) so I never get any warnings now

I bought the Cerato Sport and similar LED lights from Auxito for the licence plate and interior and boot lights Trying to figure out the front headlights though now, because have to go from halogen to LED for the mains, but also have the ugly DRL's that look more like fog lights from the early 2000's.
If you search up Cherry Tuning they have some options for LED conversion - and also, if you want some DRL options, there are a couple of DRL switchback to LED sequential indicator combo lamps that replace the entire front indicator housings available on AliExpress. You can search the 'Kia Cerato Modifiers Australia' group on facebook for more info :)
@@HD_Heresy Yes but you'll have to wait a long time, they said internationally it may be out in late 2021 but that means AU market is going to get it probably 2022. Also there's rumours that the price will increase as there will be some new kit on it, so it won't be as value for money as it is now haha

i test drove a 2021 the other day looks like they dont have the aircon seats only heated and while driving hard the smart mode went red im guessing thats sports
@@iDreamDance Yea we used to also have the Hatchback version of i30. We call it the Elantra GT here but they discontinued the hatchback version for next year.
Incredible detail with this vid Adam, love your work. Picking up my own Cerato GT in a couple days! Probably a stupid question but I’m also looking at the illumo LED package and just wanted to check whether the i30N package would work ($169) or if I needed the i30 package ($355)?
Hey Steve, thanks for watching and congrats on your purchase! You want the i30 N package as it assumes the base car has LED headlights and tail lights already (which the GT does) 😬 you will need a 33mm festoon for the glovebox light separately though, that's the only one thats not included.
You can get aftermarket front LED indicators which crawl across (think Audi). I can't justify the cost but they do look cool Do you experience issues where the transmission gets confused as to what gear it uses on take off? My 2019 model sometimes does this and it's the only real issue I have with the car
Yes I know a lot of people who have the sequential style ones from aliexpress, they aren't bright enough for me personally and are hard to install (and cost like you said), but it does look cool! Sometimes I get that yes, it's usually in smart mode for me. I'm kind of used to it now so it's not too bad, but many others have said getting a throttle controller from SaaS/Hikeit helps smooth this lag out significantly.
Honestly I didn't do a great job of it, but it's basically just tucking them behind your rubber door seals, quarter pillar panels and roof lining with a plastic trim tool (you can get a set of them off eBay for cheap). You just push it in with the tool and fold the flap over it haha.
Does the colour of the car in the lane keep assist page change colour to match the car you buy? I just put a deposit on a sunset orange one and that would be so cool.
@@iDreamDance is 98 ron the equivalent of 93 octane in the states? I just bought one of these GT2s today... Dealer filled it up with 87 octane... I have no problem filling up with 93 cuz i was pumping it already in my previous turbo car.... Im just wondering how much performance it is gained with this specific engine.. do you know? Im also new to DCTs, does that little jerky feeling upon take off ever go away with more miles?
test drove the 2022 gt today, awesome car if abit stiff. sad that now it's $40k. I like it about $30k much not $40k :( wish I bought it a few years ago when it was cheaper! lol

Yes there is one called the "super shark antenna" on AliExpress (I have one on order and there's a few other gt owners who have it already). Apparently no issues with reception or GPS etc. I'll update when I have mine too with a new video 😬
Don't think so, I think maybe just slight tweaks to the engine (rumours only, some people say the new model has smoother gear changes etc). I doubt it's anything that's a dealbreaker
Out of curiosity why did you pick the hatchback over sedan version ? Was it just for looks ? :) Thinking of buying sedan over hatch mainly because sedan has one extra feature over the hatch, which is the ‘smart trunk unlock’. Very informative video btw !

Thanks man! Judging on the leaks and on the direction of the other Kia models this year, i think the facelift will be minor things like infotainment screen upgrade, redesigned headlights maybe? The engine and drivetrain is probably going to remain the same, and the price may increase like the i30 (about $5k more driveaway). If you can get a good deal on the current one and you like it, it might be worth it :)
@@iDreamDance Very good points about upgrades. I reckon it's more about the look of it that derives people to buy the new model. But It's just a little bit annoying to get the current model and see a new one in a few month. Do you think there will be a big price drop for the 2020 model after new one hits the market?
@@aljafari2364 I don't think you'll see the new one that quickly, usually there's a delay of a few months between when it's out and when you'll actually see them on the roads here. Also, from what I've heard from other buyers, it seems there's a long wait list for GTs nationwide due to COVID and high demand, so probably not going to see a big price drop beyond what you can get now haha. But yeah if waiting isn't a problem and you'd prefer to have the newest one, then you could always wait of course!

Hi Adam, I’m following your links to order LEDs for my Cerato GT. I notice with the indicator lights that the ones in the link have a single bump (technical terminology there) on the bottom to conduct electricity, whereas most other bulbs I’ve seen have two. Presumably this poses no issues?

I noticed an imperfection on your vehicle, where the front passenger left wing and the Left A pillar joins which is not fitted flushed. I agree you need to change the ugly antenna. I used to have a Kia Niro 3, it was a well equipped, spacious and comfortable car but way too slow and the cabin noise was atrocious. I believe there is no need for break-in period for modern cars anymore.
Oh do you mean the inside? That's probably just my dashcam wire haha, I was trying to fit it in but it's a bit thick for the interior piece. Antenna's changed now!

The transmission temperature if because it is a dry dual clutch system. They're fairly prone to overheating, so a useful feature to monitor that!

Nice in-depth review! What a shame that we don't get the Forte version in a hatchback in the USA... it's gorgeous, almost to the point of perfection IMO, not to mention much more practical.
Thank you for the very comprehensive informative review. I also have a snow white pearl Cerato GT, but mine is the sedan (identical except for the boot and rear end obviously). This would be a great video for those too lazy to read their owner's manual and have no idea what certain switches are, or what modes or settings mean, you described them ALL very clearly. I've had mine for about 10 months now, just passed 6,000 kms. I'm very happy with everything about the vehicle, with one small exception. I think the horn is a bit tinny. I'd like the horn to be a bit noisier. I know it's fairly easy to fix, but I'm reluctant to do anything whilst still in warranty. I DID however have the dealer install a front and rear dashcam (got them to install a Street Guardian that I had purchased separately). I got paint and interior protection and a "Schmick" package that fixes minor scratches and gutter rash wheel scrapes very cheaply. (PS next time look under the hood...that does matter to some prospective buyers). This video was linked on the Kia GT owners Facebook page. Excellent work. A great review. You got a +1 like from me.

I just want to thank you for the very informative video. I currently have a 2003 2.0lt manual, Elantra Hatch and of course it doesn't have all the great gear that the new cars now have, but it's the shape I like and the seats fold down completely flat for when I need to move things, it also has a sun roof, rear spoiler, ABS brakes and I had a new stereo, with subwoofer and hands free mobile phone, installed, so I have been loathe to part with it as I don't like all the boxy looking vehicles on offer today. I've only just discovered the Kia Cerato GT + but wasn't sure about buying it until I just watched your video. I'll definitely take it for a test drive to check out the suspension issues, first though, as I am wary of rough riding vehicles affecting my neck and back, but otherwise I now really want to buy the 2021 model of this car. Thank you so much for sharing this review, it's the best one I have watched.

I got the Cerato GT sedan, I personally think it has a better rear. I also had mine cut and polished before having the ceramic coating applied, it now constantly has a wet look to it so SHINY. These cars are so much fun to drive and they sound great stock.wished I could add pics of mine but oh well. It’s an awesome car enjoy it.😎

Great video! I will have my CERATO GT Line 2022 in about 3 weeks.
Watched and compared so many reviews between the GT and the i30 n line premium, and honestly after test driving both back to back the Hyundai has nothing on the GT. Bought the GT straight after the test drive, heck bought it in my head as soon as I opened the drivers door. Not sure what KIA did but their engineers did some great tuning.

Thanks, mate for the detailed review. The most appealing thing that attracted my attention is I can relate it to my Holden Cruze Hatch. It's looking pretty similar to Cruze Hatch from the side and overall shape at a quick glance.
Thank you for your review this was great to watch. So much better than having to search through the manual. I’m pretty sure mine doesn’t have the air flow function for the seats. Do you know why this was changed for the 21 plated model? I saw the new version that has just been released but they looked too robotic for me. I am looking forward to picking up my sunset GT next week.

Yes there's a sequential LED indicator that replaces the entire housings for the front available from AliExpress, although most people who have it said it's a little bit too dim for daily use.

How is the ceramic coating now ? Right now in Melbourne you pay a premium to get this car it goes for above $45,000 AUD after adding dashcam, ceramic coating and protection for the seats

Did you know the 2022 has a 10.25 centre display
To be honest I wouldn’t worry about the protective film over the headlamps unless you’re going bush bashing with it or long highway trips… cause let’s face it $75 to $80 is extremely steep for a thin sheet of material like that

Congratulations! I turned off all the map alerts through the settings (I think there's something about alert sounds in the navigation area) so I never get any warnings now
Thanks for this mate, also from Perth. I bought the Cerato Sport and similar LED lights from Auxito for the licence plate and interior and boot lights
Trying to figure out the front headlights though now, because have to go from halogen to LED for the mains, but also have the ugly DRL's that look more like fog lights from the early 2000's.
If you search up Cherry Tuning they have some options for LED conversion - and also, if you want some DRL options, there are a couple of DRL switchback to LED sequential indicator combo lamps that replace the entire front indicator housings available on AliExpress. You can search the 'Kia Cerato Modifiers Australia' group on facebook for more info :)

Also there's rumours that the price will increase as there will be some new kit on it, so it won't be as value for money as it is now haha

i test drove a 2021 the other day looks like they dont have the aircon seats only heated and while driving hard the smart mode went red im guessing thats sports

@@iDreamDance Yea we used to also have the Hatchback version of i30. We call it the Elantra GT here but they discontinued the hatchback version for next year.
Incredible detail with this vid Adam, love your work. Picking up my own Cerato GT in a couple days! Probably a stupid question but I’m also looking at the illumo LED package and just wanted to check whether the i30N package would work ($169) or if I needed the i30 package ($355)?
Hey Steve, thanks for watching and congrats on your purchase! You want the i30 N package as it assumes the base car has LED headlights and tail lights already (which the GT does) 😬 you will need a 33mm festoon for the glovebox light separately though, that's the only one thats not included.

You can get aftermarket front LED indicators which crawl across (think Audi). I can't justify the cost but they do look cool
Do you experience issues where the transmission gets confused as to what gear it uses on take off? My 2019 model sometimes does this and it's the only real issue I have with the car
Yes I know a lot of people who have the sequential style ones from aliexpress, they aren't bright enough for me personally and are hard to install (and cost like you said), but it does look cool!
Sometimes I get that yes, it's usually in smart mode for me. I'm kind of used to it now so it's not too bad, but many others have said getting a throttle controller from SaaS/Hikeit helps smooth this lag out significantly.

Honestly I didn't do a great job of it, but it's basically just tucking them behind your rubber door seals, quarter pillar panels and roof lining with a plastic trim tool (you can get a set of them off eBay for cheap). You just push it in with the tool and fold the flap over it haha.

Does the colour of the car in the lane keep assist page change colour to match the car you buy? I just put a deposit on a sunset orange one and that would be so cool.
I am fairly sure it's always a white car haha but you can always test drive to find out! Would be awesome if it was colour matched!

Yes there is one called the "super shark antenna" on AliExpress (I have one on order and there's a few other gt owners who have it already). Apparently no issues with reception or GPS etc. I'll update when I have mine too with a new video 😬

Don't think so, I think maybe just slight tweaks to the engine (rumours only, some people say the new model has smoother gear changes etc). I doubt it's anything that's a dealbreaker

Thinking of buying sedan over hatch mainly because sedan has one extra feature over the hatch, which is the ‘smart trunk unlock’.

Thanks man! Judging on the leaks and on the direction of the other Kia models this year, i think the facelift will be minor things like infotainment screen upgrade, redesigned headlights maybe? The engine and drivetrain is probably going to remain the same, and the price may increase like the i30 (about $5k more driveaway). If you can get a good deal on the current one and you like it, it might be worth it :)
@@iDreamDance Very good points about upgrades. I reckon it's more about the look of it that derives people to buy the new model. But It's just a little bit annoying to get the current model and see a new one in a few month. Do you think there will be a big price drop for the 2020 model after new one hits the market?
@@aljafari2364 I don't think you'll see the new one that quickly, usually there's a delay of a few months between when it's out and when you'll actually see them on the roads here.
Also, from what I've heard from other buyers, it seems there's a long wait list for GTs nationwide due to COVID and high demand, so probably not going to see a big price drop beyond what you can get now haha.
But yeah if waiting isn't a problem and you'd prefer to have the newest one, then you could always wait of course!

Hi Adam, I’m following your links to order LEDs for my Cerato GT. I notice with the indicator lights that the ones in the link have a single bump (technical terminology there) on the bottom to conduct electricity, whereas most other bulbs I’ve seen have two. Presumably this poses no issues?

Are the brake and accelerator peddles too far apart?
I noticed an imperfection on your vehicle, where the front passenger left wing and the Left A pillar joins which is not fitted flushed. I agree you need to change the ugly antenna. I used to have a Kia Niro 3, it was a well equipped, spacious and comfortable car but way too slow and the cabin noise was atrocious. I believe there is no need for break-in period for modern cars anymore.
Oh do you mean the inside? That's probably just my dashcam wire haha, I was trying to fit it in but it's a bit thick for the interior piece. Antenna's changed now!
