    I just spent over an hour wrestling with a new climbing rope hanging from my willow tree, unsuccessfully pinching the rope between my feet and thinking man, I must be in worse shape than I thought--and the truth is I'm in exceptionally good shape for a man my age. Thanks so much for your very understandable instructional video. I'm grateful.

    The ropes are durable and just like the ones at the gym. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTFxba6lNeHrZaHoY_LXe6ZzmMfaipnwu Caution: I bought the 50 feet ropes and they are long and heavy so make sure you have the space (I do have the space). If I was to do it again I would probably get a shorter version as 50 feet (25 feet each side) is a little long.

    One thing never discussed with these rope climb videos is how to descend? If you could breakdown and analyze how Froning descended down the rope during the 2014 Games final event that would be great.

      Ditto that! I find the journey down slower and more troublesome than getting to the top.

    • @Monscent
      @Monscent 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kennethsizer6217 Just hang down with straight arms, do a wrap, sit down with your hips forward pressed against the rope. Then lower your hands, let go of the footlock, dangle down straight, repeat.
      The problem with this video is that the footlock is a little bit off. The lower foot is supposed to take the rope, wrap it around and stand on the "wraparound" foot. Then you get a proper footlock that you can actually sit down into and rest your arms if you like.

    Great and clear video. Can you recommend a good brand for rope that is not slippery? On Amazon lot of people complain about it? Hard to know if it is a real issue or weak user.

    Hi, I did rope climbing twice in two weeks but got really sore in my elbows specially towards my triceps. I couldn't do a proper bench press and triceps exercise after that.
    The first time I did it I didn't feel it on the same day but I had sore in my elbow when I was doing chest exercises but the second time I did rope climbing I had sore straight after my exercise. Could you please help me why did it happened and how can I do it safely? Cheers

    • @WODprep
      @WODprep  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey - it sounds like you might have overdone it - how many reps of rope climbs did you do? Next time, I would scale down and only do a few to start, then see how you feel the next day.

  • @cipriannemet519

    I only use arms for climbing. Otherwise what's the point?

  • @andrewbarnes8475
    @andrewbarnes8475 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Isn't the point of what you're trying to achieve, i.e. to build strength and muscle. Since rope climbing is very good for building biceps strength, isn't it better to try and aim for doing it using just your arms. I have to climb a rope with my arms and legs because I can't do it with just arm strength but that is ultimately my main aim.
