  • GM's new $8,000 truck just decimated the industry. Although price fluctuations are nothing new, this is nonetheless shocking.
Recent years have seen the release of new, more reasonably priced models, but this one simply went a step further. Will this be a good vehicle, you ask? The quick answer is yes, but this truck is about more than simply price, and in the end, we stand to gain from it all regardless of the result. As a result, businesses are also becoming more competitive in the less expensive areas. And after giving it some attention, we discovered something quite unexpected: their approach, the truck's impact, and its performance are all extremely different from normal.

Remember GM makes nothing in the US. It will be made in Mexico or South Asia where it can be made for a few thousand. Even with shipping cost GM can still make a sizable profit.

Why not bring back "Square Bodies" a base model cost $8,500 in 1985 Over 10 million were built. Parts were interchangable and anyone could work on them.

It costs right around $30,000 for any established manufacturer to assemble any car/truck/suv in the united states or canada. We've already seen that the big three will no longer bother with building anything they can't sell for $40,000+. There is NO WAY that GM cares about the

An updated version of the S10 and S15 with a I4 or V6 ICE would make the waves.

Probably made in S. Korea or Mexico (similar to Trailblazer). Can't believe $8k, though. Probably the same size as the Ford Maverick

So now all the major automakers have the under $10,000.00 Dream pickups, yet to be seen in the market, you know still waiting for the $300.00 Tesla phone.

Putting feature loaded 8k trucks out means a BUNCH of broken features in my book. Who wants cheap if it means a bunch of down time for repairs? Just a simple engine, bench seat, manual transmission or RELIABLE automatic, air con and heater. Want music? Go to wallmart. Want floor mats?, want cup holders? Rinse and repeat.

Tata might know how to make a very cheap $8000 truck. A third-world one. Not GM.
We will be lucky if the next GM truck is under $80,000 !!!

Mary Barra still makes lots mistakes engines, fuel pump, electric and many other parts of company.

They can do the same thing across the board. GREED has driven the prices up to the Unaffordable level for years now. It was approaching time to Bud Lite them too. They like so many other industries has basically said "to hell with the middle class". This isn't out of the goodness of Chevy's hearts. They were in bad trouble. It is perhaps an awakening for other industries.
