    Today the cable cut me coming home by the highway and I was lying in the Arsen for an hour and a half waiting for the tow truck. I will try to change the cable hooking the old with the new one. Gracias amigo!!!!!

    It finally happened. Clutch cable at 70ish k miles popped and throttle cable went at 84k miles. Luckily it was in the driveway RE setting free play. That, ladies and gent's is what we call a "CLUE". Having to RE set free play means the cable is stretching and should be checked.

    I have the naked version of this bike and the cable routing is a PAIN IN THE ASS because is supossed to go behind the battery box, so is kind of always needed it to take tank, battery box, etc. Out. With your version of bike (Faired) is A LOT easier to do exactly what you said at the end, just tape the ends of the cable with zip ties and then having the old one to routed the new one, i have done this to a couple of triends bikes, is always easier. Just not in my model.

    Thank you for your really great video, but I have a question. how do you know which cable is need to changing if there are two?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One cable goes tight when you open the throttle and the other is usually slack as it just ensures the plates return closed, but the springs take care of that unless it were to fail. If you open the plastic clamshell on the handle bar you can see which cable does the pulling.

    Hey Calvin, I have an Xj6 2011 its a similar engine as far as I have researched. My question is do I need to make valve clearance ? The bike is at 40k km. Is it a hard thing to do ?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya it’s the same engine I believe! The valve lash job is certainly involved but I have a video detailing the process for you. The hardest part is the precision measurement of the clearance and staying organized with your work.
      Here’s the link to my video on the job:

    Is there any way you'll show opening tank?
    My float is always displaying full tank - believe its stuck since everything is plugged under, and I'm a bit scared opening it since I've never done it before...

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my air filter replacement video I show removing the tank more closely, link below. Try pulling the fuel pump when the tank is very empty so there’s really isn’t as much gas to deal with.

    i read online of people doing a straightforward one to one swap of the throttle housing assembly including the grip with the R6, they claimed its one of the cheapest fast throttle upgrade. does it really work and fits exactly the same as the original stock FZ6 throttle housing assembly?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t heard of this. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a swapable part though. The r6 got a nicer throttle assembly, it likely had a bit more aggressive/sensitive throttle to improve response. It probably opens the throttle bodies more for less wrist movement.

      @@Calvinm i had a need to replace the "roll-off" cable and it was truly a PITA, but after that so far so good

    • @h4xi0rek
      @h4xi0rek 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it was the roll-on cable back then;) this year I needed to replace the throttle closing cable and now again the roll-on after 40ths km. It's weird though that this time it broke at the grip, because last time I think it started falling apart at the throttle assembly.
