Today it’s time to leave Laos and travel to Cambodia! After an amazing month in Laos, from laid-back Luang Prabang, busy Vientiane, and a scenic road trip all the way down to Pakse - we finished our Laos trip in Don Det island, arguably the most chilled place in Laos. Today we leave and head towards Cambodia by land border… after looking up this land border online - we realized that it was the worst-rated border crossing - a solid fail! Hello and welcome to Cambodia. Unfortunately a lot of people think paying $2 for a 'stamping fee' is a scam and this ruins their whole travel experience. Hopefully you have a good experience in Cambodia. There has been a few TH-camrs posting really negative Vlogs which is not great for local tourism. Double pricing is annoying but if you only pay what you think it's worth it's not a scam it's a transaction. People here mainly have no social benefits for retirement like they do in western countries, so I just think of it as a small contribution to their retirement.
We love your positive attitude and friendly manner , that is huge when travelling. Never lose that.

We always try to keep a positive attitude - we were lucky in this case because we anticipated it to be stressful but it was genuinely the most chill border crossing we’ve ever done haha! Looking forward to exploring and posting more videos! ❤️🤗

if it complies with regulations or by law Tourists can accept it without any problems, but if using tricks to add money to their own pockets This is a shameful thing. The consequences will be much worse than you think.

I have lived in Thailand for 18 years. I’ve been to Siem Reap before it was popular with tourists and then after- quite a difference. Despite what my “world traveler” friends said about Phnom Penh, I loved the old historical section along the river promenade and… most things were walking distance. Great, sincere people. ( It reminded me of the Thais back in the 1980’s)
Phnom Penh was much more beautiful before the Khmer Rouge, and Cambodian movies and artists even went international during that time period. Early Hong Kong cinema directors were inspired by certain Cambodian works like the crocodile man movie series. Though it might’ve been more vibrant now, the city scene is quickly growing and developing with new infrastructure and amenities

We went from Don Det, the whole trip was organised - so it took us on a boat and a couple of minivans hehe (we mention it in this video!)

When you are at a mall or market take some time looking for a better bag or stroller for the gear, waterproof maybe 🤔

Hey Cambo! I have to agree with them it's not technically Clickbait as the crossing has a low rating. But I can see where you are coming from, as Cambodia is being hammered to get cheap views and subs from negative Thumbnails ( sorry 2P1D as expat Vloggers not travel Vloggers we are very protective of Cambodia) This actually shows people that it wasn't bad at all. I really appreciate them doing the boarder crossing there and showing it's fine.
I found a sickening trend of TH-camrs putting thumbnails like 'we were robbed' or 'unsafe' when questioned about it, their stories were false, inaccurate or totally blown out of context.
@@BIGJED75 we completely understand - this was just our experience of such a poorly rated crossing (which we made very clear was smooth as butter in reality!) 🤗. Our next video is tonight and is a very positive title and experience - the reality of our travels though Cambodia! We’ve also seen negative titles in Cambodia and are very happy that our experience has been nothing like that! 🤗🤗

Siem Reap is a fun place. Been there 3 times and yeah the border can be weird, but patience and a few bucks and no problem. First time I went was about 20 years ago, it was like an outpost. Boy has it changed. Glad for the people, but it has been a bit overdone in terms of tourism. Just enjoy all the ease and food and services , You just have to work a bit harder at finding more out of the way experiences. Something fun is to rent an electric bike and go to the other side of the river from all the pub street action. You can find the neighborhoods where the local residents live, Markets and shops ect. Might even find somewhere that will repair bags. 😁

Honestly I have seen the most complaining with border crossing really only with What ever country to Vietnam or Vietnam to what ever country
There is no order, most of it is venders trying to hustle you, and the staff don't even know what their doing half the time and push you aside if a bus driver comes up with 50 passports and cash..
This border crossing they did though, I did it from Cambodia to Laos, was 100% easy no issues and I was surprised when I got my SIM card it was similar pricing all over Laos as I made it up north.
