Grab all of their albums lol. Each CD case has something unique, and there's hidden gems too. One pressing of Undertow has a cow licking her bunghole under the disc. It was disallowed in some regions, so there, they hid it under a black panel!
Ænima has a lenticular holographic image on the front and another under the disc; Salival has a sleeve that if put on backwards, has a Kaballah Tree-of-Life that lines up with the chakras of the humanoid on the cover; La-te-ra-l_us has a see-through cover with old-school transparent encyclopedia dissection pages; 10K Days has stereographic images with inbuilt concave glasses; and Fear Inoculum has a 7" old tech LCD screen playing a video called Recusant Ad Infinitum twice over, which is the length of the middle track Descending.

I'll subscribe to watch your mind melt during your TOOL journey. These guys are my generations Pink Floyd. ✌️

I'd always say start at the beginning and work your way through their evolution, because that's exactly what it is. I'm glad I got to experience it as it happened throughout the years. Aenima is still my favorite though, regardless of my username.
You were talking through the best part of this session :(

Danny Carey is the master of poly rhythms. I love to watch him work. Maynard is the master lyricist and singer. The guitarist and bassists are great players and composers. Tool is an amazing band and still play today. I would start from the beginning.

I play a variety of instruments and the most recent I didn't start playing until I was over 60. Try the guitar. Or join a drum circle and beat on a djembe.

Danny Carey is simply one of the greatest drummers ever. Try "The Grudge" next, the opener to, in my opinion one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded. "Lateralus" Enjoy! Stick with the audio only and maybe pull up the lyrics seperate. As most of the time, Tool lyrics are deep as f...

I don't know enough about you to give a good rec on where to start to be honest, but Aenima was my start, and it worked for me

Try the band Porcupine Tree--live version of 'Arriving Somewhere but Not Here'. Great song!! I am also a big Tool fan, right now Descending is my fave by them. I am 60 so I have enjoyed Tool for a long time!

Might I suggest a song from each album :
    Jerk Off from Opiate EP
    4° from Undertow
    46x2 from Ænima
    Lateralus from Lateralus
    Vicarious from 10,000 Days
    Descending from Fear Inoculum

For album purchases, just start from the beginning. I think most would argue Aenima or Laterlaus is their best, but honestly they're all pretty damn amazing for their own reasons. The only album you would be hard pressed to find is Salival which is a collection of live versions. Of course you have access to all their music on Spotify, except Salival. You can find that on TH-cam though.

Do their entire DISCOGRAPHY from start to finish. Their albums are as good as Zepp and Floyd. They honestly don't have a bad track.
Like Floyd TOOLS albums are concept albums. Full of Interludes, Segues, Hidden Tracks, backward messages. Listen to entire albums my friend. 🤞✌️

Would love you take and journey down the album Lateralus by TOOL. From start to finish- it’s my favorite album of all time. Spiral 🌀 Out. 🤙🏻
My opinion is to just listen to the song and experience it. Then maybe take a little break in between versus to read and analysis. Just so you get the full vibe.
As far as buying the albums I would start from old to new. I personally not in total love of the album Opiate like the others , however it’s still good and fascinating to watch and hear the growth from those time periods.

aenima, lateralus, then 10 000 days, are the first tool albums i'd buy personally.

Lateralus is unbelievable as is the album 10,000 days. Aenema and undertow are very early releases and the band, to me, matured in Lateralus onward. REALLY. you can't go wrong with ant Tool!

I think chronological makes sense with albums , however the two most impactful tool albums have to be
    Aenima - 1996
    and then Lateralus - 2001

Think of their albums as opera. Entire works. Beginning to end, one thing.

Tool is a story you should start from the beginning. It progresses much as acts. Their first few albums were much more angry at the world and evolved to a much more trance like sound. Every single song is good though! Reading up on Maynard's back story and following the lyrics will surely help you understand. Enjoy yourself and spiral out!

danny's kit is required for the songs that he plays. half the drums are electric pads that change depending on the song being played.

I'm guessing the setup of his drums has everything to do with the setlist what songs is he playing where does he need his high hat to play certain songs like this song I'm The hi-hat's in a strange place but I'm assuming it's only because Numa was on the set list and that's not where it normally would be for him but it needs to be for him to play this song

I wish people would stop telling new reactors to view this video. At the very least have them react to the original song first. so they have some context.
