I'm not a musician but I've always been fascinated by Danny's fills. He seems to experience time at a different rate to other human beings. It's as if he gets bored part way through his already very complicated patterns, then throws in a more complicated drum pattern to fill in time
Pretty sure he was playing triplets with the left and doubles with right and moving around the set while simultaneously keeping time on his right leg at one point and I may have had a stroke trying wrap my head around it
I think he's using the same technique he does in the beggining of the song, with the rim shots He's doing double strokes with the right hand and single strokes with the left. Like... Tu tu (right hand) pa (right hand)
Watch the video where Danny talks this was one most difficult sets to get down. He put out a great video on it and you sir are correct on the trips..#SNARELIFE
Danny is hands down by far the most technical drummer of our generation. There's drummers then there's Danny...master of his craft and unmatched ! Now run tell dat!
danny carey is no more talented on a technical level than any college jazz program's drummers. what makes danny stand out is the collaborative effort with the other three members of the band. tool isn't tool without maynard. tool isn't tool without justin and tool isn't tool without adam.
@@TheRedStateBlue as a whole they are a Unit ,and yes they all stand out in their own right but to compare Danny to a college person is absurd but your opinion is just that yours and the American way so you say Tomatoe I say Tomato
FEUERSCHWANZ - Warriors Of The World United (feat Thomas Winkler, Saltatio Mortis & Melissa Bonny). It is a great Band from Germany. Would be Cool if you could do a React to this Coversong they made.
Within rhythm the drummer can play more inspired parts by using "Subdivisions" within the meter of the song. Danny is immaculate at this style to his advantage. The music just sounds like it has more depth... Great reaction! Happy you enjoyed it my friend.. Peace..
Yo man, new subscriber. Check out Gavin Harrison. Not Danny but in his league. Check out his performance with Porcupine Tree and do the live version of Anesthetize from Tilburg. You will not be sorry.
Danny is the buckethead of drummers.
I can totally agree with this!

@@mendronesg he starts doing that, then it's a swiss triplet pattern.
That high hat just keeping metronomic time like an atomic clock while he covers the rest of the set with polyrhythms just kills me every time

He's not a drummer, he's a percussionist. It's like Terry Bozio's drumming on Frank Zappa's BLACK PAGE
He's both. And more.
👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍

"you don't hear this in country music." LOL You don't hear this is any other band's music. :)
Every musician who watches this is like "I can't catch the beat, but it's amazing" lol
And all of it is true lol
El EsteparioSiberiano, Cobus, Luke Holland..... and many more....but when it comes to Polyrythm there is only Danny.....
When I watch it, I always tap my fingers at 8/8 time, and I never loose time. 👍😁🤘❤️🎼
Neil Peart, Buddy Rich.... and of course Greyson Nekrutman....damn....list wont stop......but at the very end ...there is only Danny :-)
You we're yappin' with closed eyes trying to imagine your beat and missed some of the most massive fills......
😂 my bad! I’ve watched the original several times since posting this

I’m down! It’s on the list!!
thats some serious jazz right there
The main bass line is in 33/16 (or 14/8 and 19/8), it's just crazy. :)
If you're trying to learn how to count and keep a beat, tool is probably not the band to learn on. Advanced musicians only. 😆
Yeah I figured that out real quick 🤣🤣

"on the off-beat," he says...
Um. They're *all* off-beats.
