  • Taylor goes to Jason's to buy some motors and stumbles across a 1776 that just happens to be a universal case and the Bus just happens to need a motor. But will it run after sitting for so long?

I'd be eating with a golden spoon too if I scored an 80's 1776 build for 300 bucks :)

It came from Jason, why wouldn’t it run! 😂
That will be a nice upgrade for the bus.

Oil Pressure and compression always helps.

In case you didn't know, the header in that engine is a Gene Berg setup form the late 80's or earlier 90's.

    $300 for a running 1776 was a good deal.

I long for the good old days, when everything had an electric motor, a standard car could outrun a Petrol W16 Bugatti, and power was simply collected from the roof, or came through power lines at 1/7th the relative cost of petrol per KW/h :) no carburetors, no gearbox, no lube, no radiators, no diffs, no stupid half ton engines, no noise, no caustic gas and the brakes recharged the batteries :)

If you blow the rat and mouse droppings, it would be better to do it outside. 😁

I own a 1972 Beetle with a 1600 engine. Although I can start the engine, it fails to maintain a proper idle. It appears that the carburetor is excessively flooding the engine with gasoline. My intention was initially to remove the engine for a complete rebuild. However, I am now contemplating whether it might be feasible to avoid removing the entire engine . I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this matter.

If the carb is flooding the engine, it’s usually an indication that the needle and seat is stuck open. While the engine is running, tap the top of the carb with a hammer to unstick the seat. If this doesn’t solve the problem, rebuild the carb.
