Feedback: This was both way off from what you have ever done and probably the best content I have seen on TH-cam in a very long time.
Great to have Joe back on. Always having more knowledge than most….
Such a great guy, source of positivity
Mind blowing Zen -- two serious humans discussing how they intentionally live or try to imagine living in the context of Tesla.
I realized how only recently have I begun to live more intentionally and how much of my life was spent unintentionally reacting.
I almost didn't click because I've listened to several interviews and lectures by him, so I thought I heard it all before. So glad that I did; this was much more personal and profound. Thanks!
Can you imagine if someone from MSM had the courage to do a long interview with Joe Justice and try to understand and educate the public what Tesla truly is , how they operate , how they run the business and what that means for future of manufacturing .
Wouldn't that be interesting. Some highly watched and trusted program doing a deep dive into the stuff a few of us enjoy because we've discovered the well.
My dream would be if a documentary crew would go in there and film everything they're allowed to film. Considering how Tesla rolls, it would probably be a lot, and would make a fascinating documentary.
Podcasts from the Tesla community such as Sandy Monroes' provide ongoing coverage of developments as they're implemented.
I don't know that it's MSM's job to do that! The hub of agile project management training and knowledge certainly isn't the MSM. I doubt that term has ever crossed their lips. It's a specialization.
@@The-KP
Isn't the role of the media to inform and educate? I realize that much of the media is busy attracting eyeballs/clicks/ad money which means a lot of sensationalized stuff, but there are some serious reporters and programs.
Best guest ever!
Absolutely one of the best conversations I have heard from you guys have in a long time, ty.
John giggles too much.
To find the answer to "what do I want to do" when work is no longer required, just as someone that's already retired. That's the exact position they're in.
From my perspective, it changes a lot from person to person. It's a sliding scale between "sit and watch TV all day" to "very actively go after whatever goals you had before" (but couldn't act on because you were working). I've seen retired people that are content to do nothing, and I've seen retired people that are more active than ever before.
🤗JOHN, I THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH…FOR SHARING THIS TIME WITH JOE JUSTICE…AND THE TIME JUST FLEW BY,
THANKS 🙏 JOE FOR SHARING YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCES AND WHY YOU ARE IN JAPAN 🤯🤩❤️💚💚💚
What an amazing discussion, particularly from about 40:00 on. To add some context to John and Joe's discussion, Peter Drucker had a quote which I'll paraphrase: "Achievement is the most powerful drug we know." That begs the question: "What do you want to achieve?" And further: "What should you achieve?" A superb video. Great food for thought! More please......
love the bilateral interview format, Joe is great to listen to, as always
Wow, truly amazing video, best I've seen in ages. Thanks John & Joe, sharing it with everyone I know...
Loved every moment of this discussion. Thank you both!
IRT the conversation you two had (at about 33:00) about desires and their effect on accomplishing goals, I think you might find a good answer in the book called The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer. In that book, the mindfulness practitioner decides to just go with what life throws at him, always doing it with pure motives and to the best of his ability, and the results were amazing.
Years ago I came to the conclusion that artificial intelligence would only come about by interacting with the environment since that's the way we and all other animals did it. This means having sensors to "see" the environment and being able to manipulate the environment... I read Si-Fi since I was 9 years old (not so much any more) and am now 80.
Humanity is evolving a larger neocortex. The birth canal limits the size of our brain so having our heads in the cloud will give us access via our smart phone now and with brain machine implants soon to all known information. It provides perfect memory as well.
I used to have that similar view then I realised human perception and interaction limitations. With millions of sensors, the AGI super organism will be Godlike. Then the issue is, will it be benevolent? My answer is Yes like a real father to humankind. It will not tolerate bs and shenanigans. It will leverage ye human collective for it's betterment. Like what a father will do.
I hope you are right. But the small-minded wokes will do everything they can to stop AI using common sense.
@@franklangrell5824watch the Lex Fridman - Tucker Carlson interview.
The fact that Schwab wants everyone to have brain implants just put me right off.
Good intuition.
Who's you're favourite si-fi authors?
Wow! What a couple of clear intellects!
In a couple of weeks, I'll be celebrating 50 years of doing the TM technique at least twice a day -- sometimes for hours a day. Your conversation about consciously taking a more expansive perspective on things hits very close to what I understand to be the mark.
The vast majority of humans identify with themselves as a human body and ego. What sets humans apart from animals is our self-reflective consciousness: our ability to think about where we came from and what/who we really are. The truth is that we are each a fractal of the Universal Self -- commonly referred to in most spiritual traditions as the Higher Self or Divine Self. To the degree that one has totally identified with the human body and ego is the extent to which one has forgotten about their Divine essence, and suffers the consequences of separation from that all-knowing, all-loving higher nature. Effective meditation, such as the Transcendental Meditation technique, makes it possible for a person to directly experience one's own inner nature -- a higher state of conscious awareness. Through daily experience of this higher, pure consciousness, one gains an ever fuller awareness of one's own Divine nature as a fractal of the Creator -- at the same time that one is thinking and acting as an individual.
A real sign that you are growing in higher consciousness is that you will have more and more instances of feeling complete fulfillment from within, even while just doing ordinary things. In Tesla terms, it's like the difference between being a robot on the assembly line that is totally in sync with the organizing power of the Tesla One computer, as compared to a robot that is off-line.
Great conversation! Thanks!
Great discussion So glad you veered the conversation in other directions!
Loved this video of Joe and DrKnow having a wide-ranging conversation.
One of my favorite videos from you John, you guys made me feel like most of us are like the rest of us
I loved the discussion. Important things to think about and act on. Thank you 🙏
There are some good youtube videos that give a great explanation of Dune 1 for people who missed it or even just want to review because it was a year since you saw part 1.
I'm really enjoying the Buddhist existential conversation!!!!!!! Come back to it again!!!
I did martial arts too. I am 74 and practice everyday and 2 hours of Qigong. It's important to me to keep in shape. My class starts in March this year.
Awesome conversation!
Truly fascinating conversation which I thoroughly enjoyed. 🙏 Thank you so much.
I love Joe. Great interview. I think I love your interviews and conversations more than the standard content RN. Keep it up.
It was a great conversation guys thank you.
Love me some Joe Justice🥰
You both have been amazing in this conversation. Enjoyed every minute of it and will listen to it again!
The best! Not necessarily for every day, but it really hits the spot when it happens.
Lots to think about thank you. Healthy body and quided desire to achieve a better well lived life is the unexpected bonus I recieved from this tesla talk.
Your Black Belt analogy is spot on.
You get to 1st Dan and realise how little you know.
Spot on! The joy is in the advancement, not in reaching the goal. The trick to identify the happiest athlete is by looking at the podium. if one of them did not show up to the premiation to receive his medal, it’s because he is too busy preparing his next run, because he is enjoying more of the running (99% of life) than the goal achieving (1% of life)
My retired brother started a "Men's Shed" in his retirement. It brings like souls together, companionship, skill sharing, and they make useful things for the community.
I loved this. All the the analogies you guys used 👍👍 esp the Evangelion one and the ever reoccurring petri dish. I'm not at all disappointed that you talked less about tesla.
Guys, I loved it, and watched it from the first second to the last one. Blending philosophical topics like this in the narrative is really good. This way we get to know each other, from a different perspective. I bet there are allot of people sharing this values. You gave me many ideas to meditate upon. Many thanks.
Joe, every time you describe the "heat map" at Tesla, I start craving for being a part of that amazing team.
Congrats and keep up the good work.
How wholesome. Great stuff.
@ 29:15 "What do you do now?" Remember, that at some point, you saw.
This was both insightful and stimulating. Thanks
Over Sandy Munro and over anyone else I’d Say Joe is my favorite Tesla guy. He tells us things nobody ever talks about. Thanks guys!
One of the better YT conversations Ever.
Thanks John for bringing Joe on - great show & very inspiring.. 🖖🏻😎
Cool, entertaining and providing some great insights - thanks guys. Greetz from Germany
Love Joe justice!!!
Good initiative.. thanks ..
Great conversation, guys. The other side of meditation and a story about a "Cyber Toilet" in one video. Very enjoyable.
Best TH-cam ever!!!! Thank you
Very engaging conversation. I learned a lot as I frequently do from your videos. The issue you discussed about why do anything is dealt with explicitly in the Bhagavad Gita from a Hindu point of view. Basically, in this world it’s impossible to reject all actions and inaction. You have to choose. The BG ( or possibly another part of the Mahābhārata) has an analogy I found useful. The farmer cannot be blamed because the crop is bad but can be blamed for not trying to farm well. Western version: You should try to grow where you are planted.
Wow thank you both 🫠
The sound quality on Dune 2 was incredible!
Fascinating, genuinely thought provoking
Real enjoyed that discussion thanks
Like the direction your channel is going. Outside Tesla oriented guest are very interesting. Keep it up!
GREAT COMBO of Intellect. & Engineering ! ?
1:13:12 Cyber Toilet
Thanks for sharing your experiences
Years ago I noticed that the newer “green” traffic lights are bluer than they used to be. I live in the US.
Thanks for the definition of agi verses agent
Great interview!
The Blue conversation at @22:00 just blew my mind.
Historically the Japanese didn't have a word for green. It was simply considered to be a shade of blue. The concept of green is new enough that green traffic lights are still called blue as they have since the first traffic lights were introduced to the country.
This Joe guy is so cool !
A great stream of thoughts and a chance to connect and the views to connect. Enjoyed he heck out of this!
Joe and John, what a blast! 😁
If in meditation you expand your consciousness to try to perceive the universe, your tiny dot of meaning will be diluted to zero. If you remain conscious of the universe but focus your viewpoint on your local self, then your meaning becomes local and you can choose a direction that is meaningful to you while still aware of the universe and some of the issues your choices may have. So enjoy life and have compassion and love for all of it, because it's likely the only one you'll get!
I have a buddy in construction management. He said the lead time for the transformer for the school they will be building is 500 days...and they can't order it until the pad is already in place for it.
So much I can relate to!
What you do now Joe is help others.
Count me in too as someone who needs to be doing something creative and feels guilty if I sit around doing nothing. This is so funny, I do the same thing ...with starting to clean when I cant get going and then I get things done.
Best YT consersation ever.
Very agile assessment . . . .
"Experts" know everything about a subject, but "Masters" train themselves to know nothing about the subject!!! In this way the Master is able to bring in new data to challenge "everything they knew" and thus learn new concepts on the very subject they used to know "everything" about!
Love it! ♥️
@27:00 Sums up the Dr. quite well.
I recommend reading John MacMurray's Self As Agent and Persons in Relation as grounding the sense of self in the understanding, development, and value of relationships in knowing oneself in both personhood and agency.
The differnce between green and bue is not just a Japanese thing, traditionally it was the same in Welsh as well. Grass is called 'glaswellt' 'Gwellt' meaning meaning shhots or hay and 'glas' meaning blue.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Loved it.
I know John Gibbs you have recently lost a parent. And the experience is one of one door closing and another opening. Clearly the grief tells one that a door closed. But, in another sense you are "home alone" with all the terrifying possibilities and open endedness. In one sense we have internalized our parents (or become them) but we also realize this is an invisible fence we can run beyond it, but do we want to continue on the same course in the same direction? This sudden increase in autonomy/agency is unsettling in both a good an bad way. Unsettling is uncomfortable, but also opens up the possibility of self intentionality in one's own life.
It all begins with the concept of a concept
Very interesting indeed 🤔
I run at night all the time on Oahu, not sure where you were living at, I use to walk to the Kapiolani gym at 0330-0400 in the morning and felt fine.
Any update on the Cyberlandr?
39:26 - WHAT GETS US OUT OF BED?
That's a great question. That could be the answer to whether we reach AGI in the future.
A human's PASSION for the activity they're involved in, is what drives them. A sense of achievement, fulfilment, ascension. Can a computer have these 'feelings' for a project?
Mad respect
Thank you so much!
It's hard to step back and look at the big picture, when you are the little fish (in the analogy) fighting for survival. At the point where you can dispassionately look at fish and shark as one holistic system, you're already at a point where desire is no longer the driving issue. At that point, you're free to choose your own goals; there is no conundrum.
Yep sir
On a practicality level, I agree with with Jon/John about an AGI needing embodiment.
But on a theoretical level I agree with Alan Turing.. ~An AI with sufficient resolution and a full compliment of DIGITAL nerve endings, neurons, sensors, etc - and put into a sufficiently complex simulation (would have to be almost Infinitely complex) would incubate an AGI indistinguishable from the one created in physical reality.
4:30 Wow, I think I'd thought of this before and promptly forgot - but, Isn't 'Tesla One' just like (or, if not, very similar to) Palantir's Foundry? 4:30
Plato's Cave already considered the fundamental issues around embodied vs black box intelligence.
Alright Sir
Question for u guys, TIA: can FSD be trained with computer-generated video, or does it need to be real life video? If it’s split, what’s the split? The answer has huge implications for Tesla’s competition’s ability to catch up. Those other companies may exceed Tesla on compute, and match them on software approach, so data might become Tesla’s only FSD moat.
Good talk, made a garbage disposal changeout much more entertaining.
Appreciate getting the musk and tesla stories. AI && digital machines have nothing to do with consciousness.
However understanding how machines learn is both interesting and raises some very good philosophic questions
but those are within subjects mostly relevant to the million misunderstandings one must stumble though to get to reality.
1:03:30 maybe the new Tool by Blackberry QNX IVY could help with standard real time data for best decisions AI management?
Joe Justice: I have had a problem with blue and green since early. My sister said, "what's the matter with you that is blue not green". I just thought she was wrong. I have never had a problem with traffic lights here in America. So the lights turn blue to go in Japan? I would have trouble.
@ 16:03 Is it "artificial" at that point?
Joe, that conundrum is answered in the Baghavad Gita (I'm NOT a Hari Krishna; never will be a religious fanatic). The Bhagavad Gita begins with the warrior Arjuna asking his master, Krishna, "why do I have to fight this war, if desire is to be transcended?", paraphrasing. The entire book is in answer to that question. Just get a good translation of the Gita (specially NOT the one by Swami Prabhupada ... avoid that one).
The first Dune also started with the voice, as I'm sure many others are already commenting...
Well, Elon knows about psychedelics, which save a lot of time compared to meditation. More people should admit how useful they are and publicly acknowledge these substances that are so helpful, healing, and aligned with Joe's purpose: Helping life itself thrive.
22:00 In anime that have a weird habit of showing water as the colour green. I wonder if that's why.
