I'm amazed about the parking sensors. It's so interesting how Mercedes specs are different around the world. In the UK you can't get the car without the parking sensors but we don't get the 360 degree camera as an option too oddly. No idea why! Keep up the great content mate :)
@@yaboibakalli I couldn't agree more. I've been researching and contemplating pulling the trigger on this car and was surprised it didn't come standard with at least rear sensors. Having to opt for the Parking Assistant package for a grand just to get some sensors is stupid.

Nice and honest 👍🏻 A couple of those would make it to my list too as a 2017 GLA 45 owner. Yeah, it’s an AMG, but once I let myself get past the fact that it’s an A class and not an E or S I learned to live with a lot of the gripes.
Main thing though that Mercedes should always stick to is the brand association. Up until the A class came out, Mercedes had always been about reliability and quality above all else. Sure you could increase your features if you wanted to, but some things came standard and were part of the premium price. If you bought a second hand merc that was 10 years old, you didnt worry about quality and reliability then either. Nowadays it's a different story and it's sad to see that people are comparing Japanese reliability to Mercedes and models like these actually missing the mark against cheaper Japanese models. Personally I think it's just cause the regulations for cars are changing more aggressively every year, the German brands are struggling to keep up with quality control and innovation and is probably why they're starting to go all in to EV. If you can skip having to substantially re-engineer to fit new performance and Co2 expectations, then you can just worry about iterative changes that work off of the back of tried and tested platforms.
Thank you for this honest video. I got an A Class when it was first released, and I can say the same about most things on your top 5. I was so disappointed with the Burmester sound system that I took the car back to the dealership after a week and asked if the sound system was properly installed. Apparently, the entry level Mercedes Burmester sound speakers are mostly tweeters containing no bass. Mine is a lease so I didn’t want to do anything to the car. The good news is that your ears get used to these and some days, your songs actually sound decent 😂😂😂 Parking sensors are also absent on my A-Class. As much as I love the interior of the car with ambient lighting, my experience with the entry level Mercedes reminds me to wait and check out the upcoming C-Class. Keep up the good work, brother! 👍🏼

i got a 2020 cla 250 and the same sound system (the burmester one) and its pretty good. Granted a cla 250 is 40k this is 75k so i guess its all relative.

But I've never been to entry models like A class ClA GLA and etc. Only E ,S and the Gt's and G's. So that's why I though its a good information but maybe its something on his car that has to be checked...
@@Tetrathegod yea maybe. Most probably its the same Burmester system as my car but my car costs a lot less so for a 75k car its not very good by for a 40k car like mine it is.
Loved the video, just found your channel and have watched every video of yours. You make everything so interesting and it’s nice to hear everything from someone who actually drives this car everyday. Saving all the money I’m able to get so I hopefully can buy an AMG really soon.
I think the reason they don't have a button to close the boot, is because it is not a power assisted mechanism. The sensor simply triggers the electronic release, similar to the button/handle. Looking at the way it opens and the hinge mechanism, thats what I believe is the reason. Perhaps theres an optional extra to add the power tail gate.
I am in South Africa and have one. I looked at one at the lot which had a similar setup, I decided to wait and spec one myself so I have the 3D parking. I agree with the rest of your points. Great car to drive but exhaust and sound system are considerable downsides. When I purchased mine, it was more expensive than the current C63, the strong points lie interior and overall styling made me chose this vehicle despite the flaws and higher price tag. One thing I would have also added is the cable being required to use Apple CarPlay.
Hey man, I’m also in western PA and have a 2020 CLA 45. I had the exact same rattle in the passenger door. Dealer took it apart, taped some wires and installed new clips. It is completely gone and life changing! Another one that is common is under dash in the passenger foot well. I had them take care of that as well.
It's a TCed Four banger; can't expect too much out of it. My S3 doesn't sound great either and I know nothing will make it sound great. I do like the CLA overall but the sound system is a pretty big one for me.
The panoramic roof cover went out on mine. Mercedes replaced the part for the updated replacement. Kind of annoying because I've had sunroofs on previous Japanese cars and they never had any issues. Cmon Mercedes!
I totally agree with you about Burmester, it sounds awful and i am completely dissapointed...if there is anyone who knows how to improve the sound system feel free to write it down.
I have the base speaker system and honestly it’s okay- It’s got quite a bit of bass actually but lacks a lot depth, it’s pretty average but can sound decent with the right settings. I also have a 2023 so maybe they changed the speakers a little bit compared to the 2020-2022, you should still probably opt for the upgraded sound system though.
Sick video bro u convinced me to get a cla 45 over a c63 when I’m a bit older, only big issue for me is that the exhaust isn’t w monster but I’m sure u can change that with after market exhausts.
Hearing this I'm happy to live in Germany and able to choose all options. But in the end my CLA45s was about 90k euro. This is over 100k dollar. Ridiculous! And yes, I admit the car has issues. The points you said are true. But still a pretty good daily driver so far.

Hey man thanks for the Video! Concerning your issues with the soundsystem I might have a solution for that. Through which Media do you Listen to Music? I suppose its through your Bluetooth connected to phone Most of the Time. I had the Same issues and found out that the Streaming service i used just didnt work well with it. So i changed mine subscription to a higher quality Service concerning the data and it worked! I wont bash any other services nor make ads for the one i‘m using. If you want to know it, just Let me know man :)

100% agree on the worst 5 things about this car. MB didn't include a friggen rear-view mirror garage opener in my 2020 CLA 45. Only found out when I tried to program it. It's the year 2020 man. Include the damn garage opener. It's so ugly that I have to hang my garage opener on the sun visor.

My biggest dislike is not only about this car but most new gen mercs. I like the old gens rear end so much better. I hate a 2018 CLA 250 and I like the tail lights and back end so much more than the new one. But otherwise this car is so much better

Good list. As we talked about before I too just got a CLA45 and had a 2018 RS3. You're right, the sound is pathetic but for my needs this didn't bother me. But the RS3 for instance has manual seats! and a pop up screen from the Windows XP era. The common thing with both cars is the manufacturer installed awesome motors in their base cars that are beefed up, basically they modded their own cars but they have limitations because of the platform. The B&O stereo in the RS3 sounds about 50% of the one in my wife's SQ8. This car's stereo is the same compared to the bigger brothers...which are larger cars and cost more. Like you, mine was optioned to about 78k but I got the 4k seat option but no parking sensors or HUD. Being a Porsche owner I am used to being fleeced by an option book but damn Mercedes stole their playbook. If you select all the options you can almost build a 89k CLA45. I think they needed to have a First Edition or Performance edition and just load it up and cap it at 75-77k. But I saved so much getting a 2020 that I cannot really complain. I spent 4k correcting the paint, XPEL, tint and ceramic so I will look to upgrade the speakers and sound deadening to help with some of the issues you cited. BTW You may want to mention, the owners manual that comes with our car ( printed) is 2 generations behind, download the newest version on the AMG lounge and it does cover augmented reality. Hoping the dash camera software is a OTA update.
Yeah even my sisters 2018 Audi A4 sound system is way better than this one and its not upgraded like mine. Im also hoping the dashcam is an update as well cause I want that as its a no cost option for 2021 models.

My only pet peeve about the optional extras and these luxury brands is that, if you kit the whole thing out you generally add half the value of the car on the cost, but as soon as you drive it off the floor your cars value isn't that much more than a partially kitted version, so the depreciation sucks the more you kit it. But I guess the logic behind it is that money is no option for the top of the range fellows, so they don't mind just throwing away a few 10Gs off their net worth an emotional buy.
What’s good bro this is Beg4mercee from IG. Damnnn man this video is making me have second thoughts now. I’m like you I love my music and my Mark levinson sound system on my IS350 sounds amazing! It’s over 1700 watts compared to this burmester is only 590 watts smh. This was one of my concerns but no one talks about the sound system on their reviews. I agree for the price of this car it should not have those types of issues already.
@@yaboibakalli I heard the system totally lacks any bass which sucks. There's no subwoofer in that system as far as I can tell. Weak. I have really liked the B&O systems in my Audis, best I've owned. Disappointed to hear about the Burmester setup.

Mine got a parking sensor however it’s super sensitive, with braking assistance on it sometimes brakes the car with no reason when I’m doing reverse so I have to turn it off. Mercedes does put everything as option which is annoying. The base price of cla45 is reasonable but with every “must have” feature added it gets crazier. I found it difficult to find a “perfect” spec cla45 for myself so I end up writing a script to do that :D In comparison, m2 has almost everything for base level already.

You should do a decat exhaust on this car because with all the regulations for ecology, they really decrease the sound of the engine. Only decat could do a good difference. (From Europe point of view) I don’t know how regulations are for US, but Europe there is so many regulations that there is barely no sound from modern cars now..

It's a Euro thing. BMW is basically the same issue. In fact rumors are their OTA updates are actually eliminating what little burbles and pops the exhaust had in models like the M340i. Sad.
Yes, there are many issues with the car. Mine had both rear lights, touchpad and the rain sensor replaced. Got some problems too with the panoramic sunroof being stuck and the rear camera not working. Typical Mercedes! :) It's weird that your car doesn't have any parking sensors...mine doesn't have the 360 camera since having a rear camera and sensors its enough for me, those also allow self-parking.

Ive had my cla45s for 6 months, and in this time it's been in to MB 4 times. Coolant issues, including having to reset the coolant sensor alltogether. Also aircon completely conked in and stopped all cooling. other issues including random service messages "Service A due" after only 7,300km. Im still in two minds, even though i love driving this car

Such a disappointment. I recently got a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited and it’s far more equipped, thought out and better designed than this and I just paid $26K. Super quiet cabin, powerful (for what it is), amazing Bose sound system with a dozen of speakers, all digital and 11” touch screen, multiple cameras, rear-lane-forward-wheel assist (it could basically drives itself), comfy while elegant with leather seats, LED lights, ambient lights, ambient pre-recorded sounds for mindfulness, automatic trunk opener when you get close to the back for more than 3secs and way much more. Incredible

It's probably not fitting to tell you on here......maybe I'll tell you in another way somehow. But I was a bit surprised that the sound wasnt a bit deeper, a bit guttier for an AMG. I agree with you big-time though. For a whopping $70,000, I think all those features you pointed out should easily be standard faire! I must say though, the freakin car is bad as HELL in the looks department. At least, there is no denying that!
Does your brakes squeak...? cuz mine do ... how is the intake going? Any issues? Was thinking of getting one too.. I also don't like the engine noise when you revving .. after the fake exhaust noise drops out .. you just hear the engine revving and it just doesn't sound nice. haha
Mine squeaked from the dealership and they told me that's just how performance brakes are. They only squeak sometimes when I'm lightly breaking and about to stop. I also have the aftermarket intake and no issues so far (4 months) after I properly installed it.
Was your cars msrp 64k? I only found 64k and 73k specked cla45’s on the lots on the west coast for 2020. 73k had driver assistance package and some other things.
I think you shouldn’t complain about features that you didn’t get because you decided to rather spend money on the car foil to turn it matt black. Also you shouldn’t complain about the noise/sound of the car where new regulations in particular in the EU require new productions cars built after 2019 to comply with environmental regulations. As far as the seats are concerned, again, you could have gone for another option, but in my opinion those are the best „standard“ seats out there in the market. Been driving 100k km and they still look brand new, are comfortable while still giving support, not too stiff which is really good for long rides. I like it though that you’re being honest and that’s your subjective opinion. So fair enough. But I disagree with a lot :-)
Well your argument is already thrown out with your first sentence. I would have probably gone along with you if you didn’t assume I spent my money on a wrap vs spending it on options. My ‘car foil’ was done for me at a fraction of a normal cost. So don’t assume that at all. You could spend $100k on the cla45 and quality still doesn’t improve, no matter what you pay. It is from factory the issue. I can complain about the sound because other cars sound fine with same regulations, which those regulations are not required for the USA so car companies should allow us to have better sound without extra filters Sound system is the upgraded system and its appalling so no ‘cheaping out’ there The seats as a standard option is also a valid dislike, as you never know what a person will purchase. I have experience with both seats (65k miles in performance seats) and I can safely say what is better. Yes I could have bought perf seats but what would that do? This video is not for me, its for people looking to purchase the car. I am here to bring info and thats what I did. Finally, yes parking package is another option that can be purchased but in the EU parking sensors are standard and in most cases, cars that cost $20k have sensors. Its 2020, there is no excuse not to have rear sensors as standard. In the end, I did not order this car, if I did I would have got it fully loaded unlike your assumption. I got it off the lot with majority of options I wanted for a great deal. Thats my 2 cents, not trying to be offensive at all or rude but defending my position. Thats all.
Got a cla 35 and have all the same quality issue. The rattle is INSANE I hate it. Had the cpu shut off on the highway once and it forced the car to downshift to 3rd gear in comfort mode at 70+mph... Been to the dealer probably 3-4 weeks worth of my 4 months of ownership so far. Currently having to fight mercedes to get them to address the 4 doors rattling, speaker rattles, door pillars rattles, etc. So frustrating...

Just not worth the money when competition is significantly better in so many aspects. If they would fix the dang thing I'd be in love again haha! Wishful thinking... I would adjust the sound focus position to the front stage. Also keep the sound profile flat. The Burmeister is not engineered for bass heavy music, but more towards neutral and vocal music.
I dont know what kind of cla 45 you have but I can tell you that the German version is definitely better. We got a automatic trunk and we have sensors with 360° cam, and the loudspeakers are so nice if you have the burmester upgrade. The high tone and the bass are better than my sonos soundbar. Maybe you just bought the cla 45 with the cheapest equipment?
No, like I said in the video. The parking package is a separate option. The trunk is not an option at all in the states. Mine was around $72k which is already too much for a cla

See the c63s just isnt the same realm as this car, the c63s is in a upper class. I needed a daily that was fun and wasnt going to break the bank. The c63s cost me $35k to run for 2 years not factoring depreciation or cost of the car

Concerning your issues with the soundsystem I might have a solution for that. Through which Media do you Listen to Music? I suppose its through your Bluetooth connected to phone Most of the Time. I had the Same issues and found out that the Streaming service i used just didnt work well with it. So i changed mine subscription to a higher quality Service concerning the data and it worked!
I wont bash any other services nor make ads for the one i‘m using. If you want to know it, just Let me know man :)
I use spotify currently but I have too many songs and playlists, I can never transfer to another streaming service 😂

100% agree on the worst 5 things about this car. MB didn't include a friggen rear-view mirror garage opener in my 2020 CLA 45. Only found out when I tried to program it. It's the year 2020 man. Include the damn garage opener. It's so ugly that I have to hang my garage opener on the sun visor.

My biggest dislike is not only about this car but most new gen mercs. I like the old gens rear end so much better. I hate a 2018 CLA 250 and I like the tail lights and back end so much more than the new one. But otherwise this car is so much better

Good list. As we talked about before I too just got a CLA45 and had a 2018 RS3. You're right, the sound is pathetic but for my needs this didn't bother me. But the RS3 for instance has manual seats! and a pop up screen from the Windows XP era. The common thing with both cars is the manufacturer installed awesome motors in their base cars that are beefed up, basically they modded their own cars but they have limitations because of the platform. The B&O stereo in the RS3 sounds about 50% of the one in my wife's SQ8. This car's stereo is the same compared to the bigger brothers...which are larger cars and cost more. Like you, mine was optioned to about 78k but I got the 4k seat option but no parking sensors or HUD. Being a Porsche owner I am used to being fleeced by an option book but damn Mercedes stole their playbook. If you select all the options you can almost build a 89k CLA45. I think they needed to have a First Edition or Performance edition and just load it up and cap it at 75-77k. But I saved so much getting a 2020 that I cannot really complain. I spent 4k correcting the paint, XPEL, tint and ceramic so I will look to upgrade the speakers and sound deadening to help with some of the issues you cited. BTW You may want to mention, the owners manual that comes with our car ( printed) is 2 generations behind, download the newest version on the AMG lounge and it does cover augmented reality. Hoping the dash camera software is a OTA update.
Yeah even my sisters 2018 Audi A4 sound system is way better than this one and its not upgraded like mine. Im also hoping the dashcam is an update as well cause I want that as its a no cost option for 2021 models.

My only pet peeve about the optional extras and these luxury brands is that, if you kit the whole thing out you generally add half the value of the car on the cost, but as soon as you drive it off the floor your cars value isn't that much more than a partially kitted version, so the depreciation sucks the more you kit it. But I guess the logic behind it is that money is no option for the top of the range fellows, so they don't mind just throwing away a few 10Gs off their net worth an emotional buy.

It’s over 1700 watts compared to this burmester is only 590 watts smh. This was one of my concerns but no one talks about the sound system on their reviews. I agree for the price of this car it should not have those types of issues already.

@@yaboibakalli I heard the system totally lacks any bass which sucks. There's no subwoofer in that system as far as I can tell. Weak. I have really liked the B&O systems in my Audis, best I've owned. Disappointed to hear about the Burmester setup.

Mine got a parking sensor however it’s super sensitive, with braking assistance on it sometimes brakes the car with no reason when I’m doing reverse so I have to turn it off. Mercedes does put everything as option which is annoying. The base price of cla45 is reasonable but with every “must have” feature added it gets crazier. I found it difficult to find a “perfect” spec cla45 for myself so I end up writing a script to do that :D
In comparison, m2 has almost everything for base level already.

You should do a decat exhaust on this car because with all the regulations for ecology, they really decrease the sound of the engine. Only decat could do a good difference. (From Europe point of view) I don’t know how regulations are for US, but Europe there is so many regulations that there is barely no sound from modern cars now..

It's a Euro thing. BMW is basically the same issue. In fact rumors are their OTA updates are actually eliminating what little burbles and pops the exhaust had in models like the M340i. Sad.
Yes, there are many issues with the car. Mine had both rear lights, touchpad and the rain sensor replaced.
Got some problems too with the panoramic sunroof being stuck and the rear camera not working. Typical Mercedes! :)
It's weird that your car doesn't have any parking sensors...mine doesn't have the 360 camera since having a rear camera and sensors its enough for me, those also allow self-parking.

Ive had my cla45s for 6 months, and in this time it's been in to MB 4 times. Coolant issues, including having to reset the coolant sensor alltogether. Also aircon completely conked in and stopped all cooling. other issues including random service messages "Service A due" after only 7,300km. Im still in two minds, even though i love driving this car

Such a disappointment. I recently got a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited and it’s far more equipped, thought out and better designed than this and I just paid $26K. Super quiet cabin, powerful (for what it is), amazing Bose sound system with a dozen of speakers, all digital and 11” touch screen, multiple cameras, rear-lane-forward-wheel assist (it could basically drives itself), comfy while elegant with leather seats, LED lights, ambient lights, ambient pre-recorded sounds for mindfulness, automatic trunk opener when you get close to the back for more than 3secs and way much more. Incredible

It's probably not fitting to tell you on here......maybe I'll tell you in another way somehow. But I was a bit surprised that the sound wasnt a bit deeper, a bit guttier for an AMG. I agree with you big-time though. For a whopping $70,000, I think all those features you pointed out should easily be standard faire! I must say though, the freakin car is bad as HELL in the looks department. At least, there is no denying that!

Mine dont squeal just yet but most AMG brakes do haha so far so good with the intake!
Mine squeaked from the dealership and they told me that's just how performance brakes are. They only squeak sometimes when I'm lightly breaking and about to stop. I also have the aftermarket intake and no issues so far (4 months) after I properly installed it.

m2 is better all around car, the rear seats are very useable and they can be folded down in 3 sections, very convenient

Was your cars msrp 64k? I only found 64k and 73k specked cla45’s on the lots on the west coast for 2020. 73k had driver assistance package and some other things.

I think you shouldn’t complain about features that you didn’t get because you decided to rather spend money on the car foil to turn it matt black. Also you shouldn’t complain about the noise/sound of the car where new regulations in particular in the EU require new productions cars built after 2019 to comply with environmental regulations. As far as the seats are concerned, again, you could have gone for another option, but in my opinion those are the best „standard“ seats out there in the market. Been driving 100k km and they still look brand new, are comfortable while still giving support, not too stiff which is really good for long rides.

Well your argument is already thrown out with your first sentence. I would have probably gone along with you if you didn’t assume I spent my money on a wrap vs spending it on options.
My ‘car foil’ was done for me at a fraction of a normal cost. So don’t assume that at all.
You could spend $100k on the cla45 and quality still doesn’t improve, no matter what you pay. It is from factory the issue.
I can complain about the sound because other cars sound fine with same regulations, which those regulations are not required for the USA so car companies should allow us to have better sound without extra filters

The seats as a standard option is also a valid dislike, as you never know what a person will purchase. I have experience with both seats (65k miles in performance seats) and I can safely say what is better. Yes I could have bought perf seats but what would that do? This video is not for me, its for people looking to purchase the car. I am here to bring info and thats what I did.
Finally, yes parking package is another option that can be purchased but in the EU parking sensors are standard and in most cases, cars that cost $20k have sensors. Its 2020, there is no excuse not to have rear sensors as standard.
In the end, I did not order this car, if I did I would have got it fully loaded unlike your assumption. I got it off the lot with majority of options I wanted for a great deal.

Got a cla 35 and have all the same quality issue. The rattle is INSANE I hate it. Had the cpu shut off on the highway once and it forced the car to downshift to 3rd gear in comfort mode at 70+mph... Been to the dealer probably 3-4 weeks worth of my 4 months of ownership so far. Currently having to fight mercedes to get them to address the 4 doors rattling, speaker rattles, door pillars rattles, etc. So frustrating...
Yeah I think merc dropped the ball on the cla models...again. Id look into getting it bought back honestly.

I would adjust the sound focus position to the front stage. Also keep the sound profile flat. The Burmeister is not engineered for bass heavy music, but more towards neutral and vocal music.

I dont know what kind of cla 45 you have but I can tell you that the German version is definitely better. We got a automatic trunk and we have sensors with 360° cam, and the loudspeakers are so nice if you have the burmester upgrade. The high tone and the bass are better than my sonos soundbar. Maybe you just bought the cla 45 with the cheapest equipment?
No, like I said in the video. The parking package is a separate option. The trunk is not an option at all in the states. Mine was around $72k which is already too much for a cla

See the c63s just isnt the same realm as this car, the c63s is in a upper class. I needed a daily that was fun and wasnt going to break the bank. The c63s cost me $35k to run for 2 years not factoring depreciation or cost of the car
