    2 Important things I'd like to add:
    1) Advice to anybody taking an MBTI quiz... when you're answering questions, it's important to consider what you actually tend to do, not how you try/want to behave.
    2) The letters of your type only indicate your tendencies, but we've all got aspects of every letter in our personalities. Also, the strength of our tendencies varies, so one INTP might be very J-like, while another seems to be all P.

      If you know the INTP personality type, very rarely will they demonstrate a J type, despite their duel-type being an ESFJ.

    This is pretty simplified. Doesn't even mention the 8 cognitive functions used to describe each type, such as Si vs. Se OR Te vs. Fe.

    • @caseyriley1014
      @caseyriley1014 5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      I agree with you, and to take that line of thought further. The 8 functions are what define the types.
      That's why it actually angers me when people discount Jungian typology based on Myers Briggs.
      There is so much to be learned, and mbti is essentially a strawman, and excessively poor representation, for what I believe is some of Jung's best work.
      All because the test was based loosely on a poor understanding of it.

      @@doyle8120 oh, well in that case I'd definitely look into NT support, and maybe read any literature from Jung himself... But objective personality is by far the most accurate, and has the most data.
      It's a class offered by Dave and his girlfriend/maybe wife shan. They've found subtypes of the 16, and expanded it all the way into 512...the freaky part is that if you put 5 people from the exact same type out of 512 next to each other, they tend to look like funhouse mirror images of eachother.
      For example say you grab a bunch of ENTP'S who use their 3rd function more than their second, masculine thinking, feminine sensory, which doesn't mean anything to you yet, point is they use their functions the exact same as each other. 90% of them will have the same hair color, (red) or a short nose and wide face, or any number of other traits.
      They're onto something very big, and when you see 500 plus examples of circumstantial data right in front of you... It starts to add up. It just blows my mind😊

    *The thing with being introvert and extrovert is that these sets of traits are cyclical.*
    You can be introvert most of your teenage years and suddenly find yourself drawn to socialising a lot.
    Don't box yourself into a category, become an ambivert.

      Eventhough your reasoning is right, there are many people who flat out fall in the category of either Extrovert or Introvert, and they stay the same way for their entire life. I was an Introvert back in my childhood due to my parents influence, but as soon as I started having more social interactions at work and life in general, I became a full Extrovert, with the exceptions of meeting elderly people or being in places that requires you to stay sit and shut down. Many of my childhood friends remained Introverts as today, but mostly due to their social environment not being "mixed" enough.

      It's more so about the natural integrative complexity of the tertiary structures of your neural networks rising slowly over the course of your life.
      As you integrate different regions more thouroghly, the functions shift as well. You'll still fall into the same type as before it's just that you level out somewhat.
      Ex: say I'm ENTJ which means top function
      Te 90%
      Then Ni 60%
      3rd Se 40%
      4th Fi 10%
      Through life I face challenges that affect the way I process information both intellectually and emotionally, in such a way that in my 20's, 30's 40's I'll be a more and more balanced entj.
      Te 60%
      Then Ni 55%
      3rd Se 45%
      4th Fi 40%
      Same type just very balanced.
      Extroverted people become less so over time and the same is true for the introverted.

      Yeah there are a lotta shitty mbti personality tests online. I got one saying that I was a sensor when I am intuitive as fuck. I think of abstract ideas. I formulate theories and try to get the big picture. I don't just "sense" and go with the flow or what I merely see in front of me. And then another mbti test said I was a perceiver when I'm highly judgmental and have my whole life planned for me, and many goals and ambitions that I daily pursue in an orderly fashion.
      Edit: Just finished his test. Says I'm an INFP. lol Yup definitely a shitty test. I'm cold and calculative. I don't act on whims. I plan and deliberate everything I say and do with exactitude. And P? Really? I judge and make decisions. I think there is always a best action in every situation that should be done. I'm very uncompromising. I don't go with the flow and am argumentative. This is by far the worst mbti test I've ever taken. Wow. Mediator my ass. I'm the Mastermind baby. That's what personalityhacker and 16personalities says I am. Very highly I might add and I agree. Jungian typology is incredibly accurate, but the Myers Briggs test is a poorly articulated encapsulation of the scientific understanding.
      The only way to truly know your type with perfect clarity would be to have two different people who have a near perfect understanding of the 8 Jungian functions... Watching your behaviour, emotional states, vocal and facial expression, while you talk about different problems you've faced in your life, how you got through it, and what the reccurring patterns appear to be.

    the issue with this test is that it is very hard to answer honestly. we all have an image of who we want to be and that very rarely lines up perfectly with who we are. the infj is overly mistyped simply because everyone WANTS to think they behave and perceive and interact with the world like an infj actually does.
    and as an infj, always the popular guy in the corner of the room who people cant figure out is introverted or extraverted, i can assure you, being an infj is fucking hard and 99% of you need to retake the test and try to be objective. adversely, i suppose infj's more than any other type have an inherent need to figure out their place in the world and themselves and will look to tests like this to try and secure themselves in the physical world so. maybe im wrong haha. but i sure as hell havent met more than 3 or 4 other infjs my whole life and ive met a lot of people in my travels

Everyone has one of these functions and two introverted functions and extroverted functions. For example, I’m an ESFP, so I have extroverted sensing, introverted feeling, extroverted thinking, and introverted intuition

  • @rayanalfadel5911
    @rayanalfadel5911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    This is so wrong. Your type doesn’t depend on those 4 letters. Your personality type is a product of your order of functions. There are distinctions between extroverted/ introverted feeling, thinking, intuition and sensory that ultimately drive and support whether you’re a judger or perceiver. If you just think you’re an INTJ (like me) for example, it’s wrong to just base it on the fact you’re introverted and intuitive and a thinker and a judger. That’s just wrong and you’re setting yourself up for mistyping. Those letters only mask the actual inner workings of ur cognitive functions.
    In conclusion, I’m not an INTJ because I direct my energy inwards, love planning and think rationally. I’m an INTJ because my character is mainly intuitively introverted (Ni) coupled with extroverted thinking (Te) which ultimately determines if you’re a Judger or perceiver - not if u plan ur trips or not.

  • @JasmineSurrealVideos
    @JasmineSurrealVideos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I was introduced to the test in Social Studies at school, and I knew when I'd perused the rudiments of the test what I would be, an INTJ. It's pretty much self explanatory, the basics, but you can then explore the four components of your result, and find more patterns, and strengths and weaknesses. Whilst INTJs are undoubtedly thinkers, rumination is not the total dominant function as we also can see through people and predict the future, and what people are thinking. I've freaked people out with this skill.
    That comes from our introversion which is the dominant trait, combined with the thinking and intuitive function.
    I knew some of the backstory to how the typing manifested, but didn't know it was created so women could find suitable jobs in the war. There's another INTJ function, we say what we know and, what we don't know lol.

    I think a test is the wrong way to go about it. Best is to take a test as a sort of benchmark and then read up on cognitive functions and try to figure out which ones you use best. Im a 'lazy' INTJ so I would test as INTP with a low 'P' but I dont relate to the type description and when I read about NiTe vs. TiNe I couldnt connect to the latter. It's also a good introspection exercise and you can use your knowledge of functions to approach situations in different ways than you would with a less developed mindset.

    I first did the myers briggs test about 3 years ago. I did it a few times just to confirm that it wasn't a fluke result and I'd come out as an ENTP. Since then, I'm sure the test on the 16 personalities site changed slightly and now I come up as an ESTP. And on top of that, maybe I've changed to. Or maybe the questions on the site just aren't as good anymore. I duno. 🤷‍♂️
    On your test though, I came out as an ESFJ. That completely threw me.

    years ago 1980s i took the full test truthfully answering all questions and ther were allot of them and it came up with INTP. then in the 1990s I did the test again and it came up with I actually don't remember but it was an IN possible fp . I took three online tests three different places and I got ISTP, I tested a few times more same site received the same outcome the second site came out as INFJ, I retested a few times and the outcome was the same also this seems to be more like me then the others but then the last site came out as ISFP-T explorer adventurer so either I have multiple personality which I know I dont or the programing for thr4 computers are messed up I consider these online tests to be more of a game then anything that is unless you take the full test.

    I think it was Nick Yee, who spoke of feeling defiled, when even discussing Myers-Briggs, because Myers-Briggs *pretends that introvert - extravert is 2 separate bell-curves, whereas the actual-data shows that it is a single bell-curve, and the whole Myers-Briggs lobby rejects the facts*.
    Which sex a person is born, is 2 distinct bell-curves, not a single one.
    The bogo-term "ambivert" for people who are NORMAL, but who are defined as abnormal by the Myers-Briggs evidence-contradicting-definition, has been created just to adapt to the alse-framing of Myers-Briggs.
    I'd wondered why it didn't seem to work right, and someone explained to me ( and this seems to validate ) that Jung *didn't* consider the 4 dimensions of Myers-Briggs to be equal.
    He instead considered one's nature on the introvert-extravert *spectrum* to be fundamental/primary, & then the other 3 dimensions were *modifiers*.
    I'm giving you this only so that if you prefer scientific-integrity, you can put Myers-Briggs in its proper place, *not* at the top level of trustworthiness, and this gift to your life-integrity can be worth much, in your remaining years.
    Sometimes it actually-is 2 discrete bell-curves ( 2 sexes in many animals, or flyers vs perchers in dragonflies, e.g. ), and sometimes it is a single bell-curve, and holding to a popular model which contradicts the data .. may be socially-popular, but it isn't scientifically honest, is it?
    Please double-check what I'm saying.
    Nick's got 2 videos on gamer motivation, I believe it may have been gdc conferences, and he takes apart the different kinds of gamers, the competence-addicts, the story-lovers, the social-process-helpers vs the social-process-breakers-of-others-worth types, etc..
    His 2 videos are important to see & understand, for understanding people.

    The video is mostly not correct. FORGET ABOUT THE LETTERS. It's about the cognitive functions of each personality type and how they work together. Look it up for your personality type! I've got a post which I can send you on my instagram: @sarahrafiq_

    Meyers Briggs types are not acronyms. They are initialisms. Acronyms can be pronounced as a word (UPS, NASA, FUBAR). INTP-T here.

      Cereal Killer you know I feel that same way you do and I looked in a mirror just now so I said to myself those words. You have to ability to be great and that potential is as high as you build it. I just said to you what I would say to myself because I understand you. • @paulo_9423
    @paulo_9423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the quiz, seems very outdated. Got ISFP then ISFJ with high levels of necroticism (while it's generally the extreme opposite, or maybe I have mistaken its meaning), but if I compare these personalities to the current test, it doesn't really fit me at all. I've done it 7 times and got ISTP all the way, it's important to note that I've got the Thinking trait over 70% everytime, mostly above 85%. The Judging also doesn't fit me.

      It’s a lot more complicated than just the four letters. You have to look at the cognitive functions of each type.
