I ended up not having to buy the part. I just opened it up and unscrewed the sl/sr cable from the rail. I then left it to out for a while just to chill. I clean it up with a small cloth as well. After it’s had a good time I put it all back together. It might not make the most sense, but sometimes the contact buttons just needs some time to breath.
Just used your video to fix this exact issue on my sons switch. Thank you so much, I wouldn't have tackled it without watching your video. Love to see this sort of content on TH-cam, keep up the good work!
I was able to return mine to functionality by using a tiny piece of tape to tape the crease in the ribbon cable flat and then closing the unit up with a new crease. This is a massive design flaw but at least it's fixable.
I recently dropped my switch on a hard concrete floor. Thankfully (or so I thought) it was fine. It was until yesterday when I booted up Mario Kart for a 2 player race with two joycons that I noticed my right joycon's SL button wouldn't respond. Well, that kinda ruined my date. Hopefully this works though.
Pff. What an amazing explanation. I was able to buy all the screws and parts just after I have watched this video. I have fixed both of the joy-cons in half an hour. Amazing ! Thanks.
