This year is my 50th anniversary as a working photographer. I just added a new Dell computer as an additional editing platform in addition to my two Macs. I find Adobe's subscription model abhorrent and went looking for a substitute. After testing a couple of options I decided to take a chance with Luminar as I got it about two hours ago for a sale price of $89.00 so I figured for that price the gamble was worth a try. I have now completed uploading 4393 images. The interface is nothing short of brilliant. The speed of adding the images was incredibly fast and the visual representation of the images is beyond outstanding. I'm looking forward to the editing capabilities and I suspect I will be very pleased.

Considering how cheap Adobe subscription is as a working photographer I'm surprised you find it abhorrent.
what do you think of the NEO subscriptions that now are used for things a pro might want to use. If I had not retired 24 yeas ago I could have been working for 50+ years but enjoyed being retired.
Very focused and useful video. One point - at around 2.50 minutes the screen shows on the right Tools, Edits and Presets. On my screen this is at the top. More to the point I can't see how to adjust intensity of a preset. Selecting Edit takes me back to the Edit menus. I have latest version of Luminar Neo.
Sad that some of you didn't have 11 mins or notice the subtitles if you didn't like the voice. A lot of good information here.

Hi, what a wonderful, helpful, and pleasantly presented overview on the ever evolving Luminar Neo program.
This is an impressive array of tools at an affordable price Photoshop cannot compete with, especially given this includes advanced features of Highlighting and Shadows that even GIMP struggles to run without crashing on current versions. I will be purchasing this and encourage others fed up with Adobe's greedy price model and GIMP's lackluster abilities to do the same.
I find gimp and darktable to run significantly better.
How to duplicate a layer ? Once i add basic corrections… how can i add 2nd basic corrections just for masking ?
Im new to luminar Neo, and Im having problems. most of my photos after I edit them and export, then if I go back to my photos to look at them they are small and blurry and the size of a small thumbnail and at 100 percent. I have something set wrong and I think I heard you said something about that, a setting but I cant remember what. Please help if you can, Thanks

This is so sad.
This may help a lot of people With Lumina AI and nero running on an AMD 6core core 12 threads 16 gig ddr4 ram and fast m2 drive. Running this software shows very low ram and CPU usage but hard drive going crazy and slowing the system to crawl cant even play a mp3 with using nero.
I have had this problem for ages but now it seems its down to were Nero writes edits to save cpu and ram by default it writes to users pictures I had 5300 files in there and several gigs.
This may happen to others if you run MS onedrive or Google backup by default it backs up the pictures folder so what happens is Nero writes a gig to the drive and Onedrive backs it straight away so 2 gig writing to disk and 1 gig going to the cloud which slows any system to a crawl. So if your having problems delete the folders in picture Nero complain to create a new catalogue set it to folder on a fast drive that Onedrive or Google don’t backup
True it requires more horsepower. I have Ryzen 3600X, 32 gigs of 3200mhz DDR4 ram. Still it does take toll on the hardware. But it is a decent application for beginners and not so extreme professionals who needs the expensive alternative.

Nice video. I bought the software and absolutely hate it though. Super slow and meh results.
I bought it as well and find importing photos and them fully loading is very slow. It also crashes often. Back to photohop/lightroom I guess.

Skylum has offices in Washington, California, Japan and a lot of other places until after the NEO release it was important to be Ukrainian Based to have a viable excuse for not delivering on the main advertised functionality. By the way I am Ukrainian decent. I have all the software Skylum has made. I Pr-ordered each time new software has been advertised to do so. The problem I see is this software is so behind in promised functionality I can't see how another yearly per-released software can be offered in the fall.
The company business plan might work with the fancy advertisement for a few years but, without delivering on the promised functionality of the product, the yearly new rollout of software will have to rely on new costumers that don't know this business model of pre-order of software that is not much more then a concept and then hope that updates can bring to fruition the promised product. People need to know that this has been the case with all resent software offers, NEO is just way worse.
I don't undstand why you would remove a very helpfull slider. time stamp 2:40 please bring it back. also Luminar ai run so much better on my Mac studio.
Since Luminar Neo 1.06 there is a bug that remained in update 1.07 and still in 1.1. I wonder if anyone has realized that after cropping an image, when exporting and redefining a new dimension, Luminar simply ignores the instruction and keeps the crop dimension. Does the entire Luminar test team not test ??? It's a shame for Luminar that this situation drags on.

Just checked out Neo v1.0 (June 2022). Seems like Neo is a very poor replacement for the excellent Luminar 4. Neo still can't do the basic masking that the older Luminar 4 can do. I like to use local masking to make chages to different parts of a photo and Luminar 4 does this well. Once you set a layer mask you can use any of the editing tools to that mask. Neo seems to have masks only with a limited subset.
Instead it has lots of glittery gimmicky stuff that serious photographers will find useless. This is not a replacement for Lightroom whereas Luminar 4 was. Sadly skylum have gone to the darks side.
Luminar Neo is still under development. They are in delay because they are located in Ukraine.

I have a question: If to add text I need to use Photoshop. Why I will use this crapy software?
BTW -- for those that wish to add text and frames and don't own PS, there is a freeware program called PhotoScape X which offers both and can be upgraded with a $40 fee to Pro.
