Mama by Phil Collins with Genesis is his vocal masterpiece...it's a little dark, most reactors probably wouldn't like that it's a bit creepy. Plus young Phil was kind of hot❤️
His son wasn't born at this time 35 years ago but he does play with him now. Phil Collins very ill. Can't walk well or play drums anymore. I've loved him forever. God bless Phil. 🙌
I saw this same performance live in Florida on his "First Final Farewell Tour"...simply AMAZING in person...the whole show was fantastic!!!! He ran around stage without seeming to get tired at all...and actually SANG (not synced like many current stars) and he sounds exactly like his albums in person....this is a legend for sure :) *if you aren't doing the drums/singing with him by the end, there's something wrong with you :)
FYI...your Gandalf is Leland Sklar. Without doubt one of the greatest bassists of all time. The bands he’s played with is like a last from hall of fame. Even his hand prints are set in stone on the sidewalk outside the guitar museum in L.A. Plus he’s got a great utube channel worth checking out.
A Legend and Master at work! Phil is a world class drummer with an outstanding voice. A true musical ICON. I am the only 1 who gets massive chills at the drum drop? Phil and this song are IMMORTAL one of the greatest performance ever given. The greatest drum drop of all time!
He most definitely should be a Sir. He is an absolute legend in his own right. Listen to him and Chester doing a drum duet, its amazing. I would never have heard him if it wasnt for my Dad, and i thank him every day for introducing me. Phil makes my heart sing, i cant help but get out the imaginary sticks!
He was 53 years old when he did this concert in Bercy, Paris in 2004. Truly an amazing performance by Brad Cole (keyboards, synthesizers, Vocoder), Daryl Stuermer (6 String Guitar), Leland Sklar (Bass Guitar), Chester Thompson ("Rhythm" Drums) and Phil himself (vocals, drums). It was performed in front of 20,000 + people at the "Palais Omnisport de Paris" and truly was, if not the greatest, close to the greatest live performance ever. It was from his "Finally... The First Farewell" Tour and this particular concert in Bercy started with an amazing "Drums, Drums & More Drums" track performed by Phil and his other drummer, the previously mentioned Mr. Thompson. Incidentally, this track ("In the Air Tonight") was the 17th in the tracklist sandwiched between Separate Lives and Dance Into the Light. Phil had the energy he had in this song all the way through to the end of the concert (as did his musicians). Now that he can no longer drum, his son NIcholas plays drums almost as well as the old man did--literally--Phil is 70 now. His son was on the Domino tour with Genesis recently. Oh and of course, his daughter Lily is rapidly becoming a famous actress in her own right. So, he's still doing alright I suppose (tongue in cheek).
Phil is a damn legend!!! He is like the MJ is instrumental!!! He has such a damn GOOD RYTHEM!!! Seriously wish he and MJ made a song! They both have such good voices!!! And so much power!! And then the rythem overload we would have!!!
The other drummer is another of the worlds best drummers, Chester Johnson. He plays rhythm drums and Phil is lead drum, try watching Phil and Chesters epic drum duet, thats real drumming!
NJ I don't know about you but I was not expecting him to do the drums.... I was so excited when I saw the drums.. In hine sight I wish you would of grab drum sticks and played with him! Your facial reaction when the drums appear in the video gave me the chills knowing he is the greatest . This was soooooooo amazing.. . Loved it... Love you... Love your reactions. This one is the best reaction.. Almost 100,000 ... Your so amazing... The love of music that radiates from you with every word you speak of music is the perfect combination.... Keep up the good work....
Well he is a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order for his charity work. He definitely needs more Royal awards, being one of the most legendary artists on Planet Earth. I suspect he will get to be "sir" eventually.
I'm so glad I got to see him at old Trafford in 2007 with genesis, watching him and Chester Thompson duel on the drums sent chills down my spine they were both amazing and the way phil can capture the attention of an audience with just small facial expressions is amazing! Fantastic that they performed genesis and solo stuff too!
Have never given a thought to 'Sir' Phil Collins before you mentioned it. You are absolutely right! Why isn't it? Guess I'll always be a bit partial towards his work in Genesis. Was lucky enough to see him in concert with them and solo as well. Each was a great experience. The man knows how to put on a show. Genesis has always been a great live band. Way back to the days of Peter Gabriel.
Wow!! I listened and loved almost all Phill Collins’ and Genesis’ songs when I was in high school. His voice is incredible and unieque. But this is the first time I realize that the stage where he perform life is so grand, sophisticated. He is huge. He is absolutelly a living legend❤️👍 That’’s a lovely reaction, NJ. Good luck for you 👍
That famous phil collins drum flip is heard on several genesis tracks wich was his personal way of drumming, try watching Mama for his perfect vocal range!
I just read an article that came out on April' 29, 2021 on USA Today that talks about Genisis returning to the US for The Last Domino tour, their first in 14 years. Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mile Rutherford joined by Daryl Stuermer and Nic Collins (on drums). The tour starts off on Nov. 15th in Chicago. The tickets went on sale May 7th. I so wish I could go to one of their concerts. God, I love Phil Collins. Thanks for reacting to this.
Saw Mr Collins now his son is the drummer but i saw him do this 3 times his son 1 time at the Bell center in Montréal The not Dead yet tour look fr it son on the drums that time he was great like his dad 🎉
If u r searching for Words in themes of Genesis and Phil Collins use "LEGENDARY" and as he enters the drums its just "BAD ASS". This performance is ridiculous good! I was 11 or 12 Years old when Phil released this Song in the 80s and at Vacation on Island Sardinia in Italy doing Camping with my Parents, hearing it first time on Ghetto blaster as the Sun went down into the Blue Sea and my body just explodes by the chills i had. And there wasnt that Video at that times. Now the circle has closed with this Masterpiece of him. Just.....WOW!!!
If you haven't yet...2007 live tour, Genesis, Firth of Fifth/I Know What I Like and Carpet Crawlers. What do I love about Phil...everything. He's a legend and you're right, he should be Sir Phil! I've seen Genesis twice, in 1977 and 2007, Phil with his band twice, in 1991 and 2018. The 2007 the Turn It On Again tour, was absolute perfection.
Yes looked effortless even while playing drums but as you say it's not easy at all, the more I hear this live, the more I enjoy. 10/10 performance by Sir Phil. You should react to Thunderstruck by AC/DC the official video, one of my favourites. Great reaction 😎👍🦘
I had every genesis album, except peter gabriel (no offense) and of course followed phil to his solo career... one of the best voices ever. thx for the reaction.
Watching this with you makes me feel old and young in the same time, old because I remember the times when I was crazy about him, and young because brings back memories, like it was yesterday, not almost 30 years ago
(no offense - you look great and I love your voice - I just didn’t expect to hear a British accent to come out of the mouth of someone dressed like a cowboy)
When Lady Diana died Phil Collins was singing a song for Lady D. "The Rose. ..... " "Till now I still love Lady Diana n keep my clipping book about "Lady Diana"
She was also in a Genesis video, 'Anything She Does.' In it, Benny Hill is playing a security guard who has everybody sneaking past him -- except, of course, when Lady Di shows up. In that case, he was thoroughly verifying her credentials.
The song was from a song called goodbye Norma gean. Not sure if its spelt right find that song and you will see how he just changed a few words to englands rose
With the amount Phil has done for charity, he should definitely have been knighted, 1994 he was awarded an LVO ( Lieutenant of the Victoria order) for his prince's trust work but it's about time he got the big one
Phil was made a Lieutenant of the Victorian Order (LVO) in 1994 for his contributions to the Prince's Trust. I'm not British, so I'm not sure what standing that gives him, but I do see LVO after his name in the same way I see OBE after John Barrowman's name, etc.
Want more Phil Collins?... Like, subscribe and comment below, and we will get him back on the show! Let's roll!
I'm so grateful that my mom loved the entire Invisible Touch ep
What are your thoughts about Hemlock drummer Brian Smith
Let's do Sussudio live version on the First Finsl Farewell Tour it's awesome!!!
Mama by Phil Collins with Genesis is his vocal masterpiece...it's a little dark, most reactors probably wouldn't like that it's a bit creepy. Plus young Phil was kind of hot❤️
Anything by him will make me happy. The man is incredible!!! ❤💋
80 thousand people, in the palm of his hand. Absolutely a true artist.
Leyland Skylar…… played on over
2000 albums …… great player !!!!
Longest beard I have ever seen !!!! 😘
52 years old at this concert !!!!
AMAZING !!!!
Totally agree it should be SIR Phil Collins, we should start a petition
Literally _EVERYTHING_ about this live performance - production, lighting, ambiance, instrumentation, effects, vocals - is _absolute PERFECTION._
Unreal! Magnificent! Genius. No other! Best live concert. God I wish I was there. What a feeling, very powerful ❤
I get chills every time I watch this. This is my favorite reaction hands down.
This is by far my favorite performance of this song.
Since you’re a Brit, get a petition for him to become the well deserved “Sir”!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Phil Collins is awesome!
His son wasn't born at this time 35 years ago but he does play with him now. Phil Collins very ill. Can't walk well or play drums anymore. I've loved him forever. God bless Phil. 🙌
To sing and play drums at the same time, takes pure natural talent.
I don't care anymore is an awesome song by him.
The absolutely best reaction to this performance. He’s not a young man here but gives a flawless performance.
Hard to believe he's 53 and just going to TOWN like that here. 🥰
THE LEGENDE

You are so right!
I agree with you...he should be Sir Phil Collins. The one and only! Loved your reaction. Thank you :)
Stan Walker - Amazing Grace, Don't Dream it''s Over - cannot agree more about SIR Phil Collins (UK here!)
probably the best drum drop ever created in music
He was 53 years old when he did this concert in Bercy, Paris in 2004. I think I've watched 100 reaction videos to this performance and loved yours because you get how amazing Phil is as a performer and drummer! Thanks!
That's not Gandalf, it's Leland Sklar and he's often referred to as "God" ;) Great bassist!
A proper artist sounds epic live.
#SIR PHIL COLLINS
Yes! Yes! Yes!!!! Arise Sir Phil Collins! Hello from the UK 🇬🇧 This guy is orgasmic and a true legend 🙌 👏
I forget that Phil is British! We have adopted him here in the states! And I agree he should be a Sir!
Total control and confidence. Incredible performance. (actually he is knighted - there are several levels....his work with the Royal Trust charities)
פיל קולינס הוא אגדה.ביצוע מדהים.מהמם❤❤❤❤❤אהבתי אץ התגובה שלך👍👍👍🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

You are right. Best of British, be proud!
I love this video ....watched it over an over
Have never given a thought to 'Sir' Phil Collins before you mentioned it. You are absolutely right! Why isn't it?

This was a 2003 performance. Nic took over drumming in 2016 at the US Open performance. But this is the best staged live performance I’ve seen.
As far as I know Sir Phil Collins plays the Piano . In fact He is also a good drummer like you do Sir NJ. What a coincidence 😋😋
My skin continues to crawl like 35 years ago Exquisite musicians, one of the best bands of the 80s and 90s. Old school my friend, old school !!
I know im happy when i hear every time we wait fr it i was there it was great
Brilliant. Love the built up, his voice, his stage presence, staging, the simplicity, all of it.
And this song is just fantastic.
Your reaction was PRICELESS my friend ✌️&❤

I Love everything about Phil Collins.....but please do watch a couple/three other live versions of this song, in his powerful younger years!
Awesome reaction! Beard guy is Lynryd Skynryd. A legend in his own right.
That famous phil collins drum flip is heard on several genesis tracks wich was his personal way of drumming, try watching Mama for his perfect vocal range!
I really enjoyed your reaction video to In the air tonite. You are so right about questioning why has the been knighted. Crying shame! ✌️😎

I am 29, I LOVE Phil.

Best of the Brits. I agree!!
Phil Collins looks very neat ,handsome , elegant and mature

PC is a legend. Humble and very down to earth guy.
Should check out "Blur and the verve. They produced an iconic tune or two
He is great either solo or fronting Genesis....check out Home by the sea, amongst many others!
The 2007 the Turn It On Again tour, was absolute perfection.
yes bro i remember it very well. Newcastle upon Tyne England 🇬🇧
Please do Two Hearts for your next Phil Collins reaction. And I agree, it should absolutely be Sir Phil Collins!!!
Yes looked effortless even while playing drums but as you say it's not easy at all, the more I hear this live, the more I enjoy. 10/10 performance by Sir Phil. You should react to Thunderstruck by AC/DC the official video, one of my favourites. Great reaction 😎👍🦘

I grew up with his songs and Genesis
The Best If British baby!!!!
The one AND only...His majesty...Phil Collins✨
Watching this with you makes me feel old and young in the same time, old because I remember the times when I was crazy about him, and young because brings back memories, like it was yesterday, not almost 30 years ago

Sir Phil is A GOD!
The look and the voice do not jive. 😂😂😂
(no offense - you look great and I love your voice - I just didn’t expect to hear a British accent to come out of the mouth of someone dressed like a cowboy)
Dope reaction
"Gandalf" is the bass player. Possibly the coolest one ever.
When Lady Diana died Phil Collins was singing a song for Lady D. "The Rose. ..... " "Till now I still love Lady Diana n keep my clipping book about "Lady Diana"

I'm pretty sure it was Elton John who sung the song England's rose
@@johnhopkins8504 That sounds likely to me. However, I hardly know anything about Elton John.
The song was from a song called goodbye Norma gean. Not sure if its spelt right find that song and you will see how he just changed a few words to englands rose
Or maybe the song is candle in the wind. Can't remember exactly
Would love to see a reaction to Peter Gabriel In Your Eyes live from 1993. Thank you!!!
Agree Sir
With the amount Phil has done for charity, he should definitely have been knighted, 1994 he was awarded an LVO ( Lieutenant of the Victoria order) for his prince's trust work but it's about time he got the big one
Interesting reaction. Let me explore a little more...
Legend doesn't do him justice
Dumbledore Rocks! 😅
Phil was made a Lieutenant of the Victorian Order (LVO) in 1994 for his contributions to the Prince's Trust.
I'm not British, so I'm not sure what standing that gives him, but I do see LVO after his name in the same way I see OBE after John Barrowman's name, etc.
Well done young man!
So iconic and this was amazing
53 he was then …..no words
He is Sir Phil now
Please can you review Mama? One of phils greatest tracks
the good thing is you enjoy this video and feel it. so its ok ;))
