I had that for a while (like over a year) - a real problem. I ended up lifting weights and that really eliminated the pain, swelling, soreness over six months of diligent training. Sadly, this has been prescribed to me for my hip revision pain and I even questioned how it could get to the joint (or, lack of a joint). I do use it on a sore shoulder and it works great.
Not a doctor, but for inner hip (socket) pain and inflammation, diclofenac isn't Rx'ed. But I believe outer tissue inflammation and pain for things like hip (G-Trochanter) bursitis, I-T band etc does get relief in many, like me. As you probably know, Bob & Brad have done some great P-T videos on that injury and treatment. Would Chris (or B & B) specifically address the diclofenac topical 1% specifically for outer hip injuries like hip bursitis, I-T band inflammation etc - need to find whether my relief was placebo?
I use it when I have flareups. On my hands and my feet. I don’t use it all the time. Just for the seven days, and it calms things down for weeks or months. I have used a generic brand distributed by Perrigo that works just as well.

A coach showed me DMSO when I was a teenager, and that stuff was like wizardry. Strange side effects, but as far as joint and ligament pain.... had to be magic. Is there a reason people don't more widely use it as a topical?
I love B&B but I see Chris often glosses over potential side effects. Oral diclofenac has the scariest black box warning I've ever been prescribed. I can't really find any good studies about how much topical diclofenac can produce the same negative effects. For sure it was documented not to use the topical more than 21 days w/o seeing your physician, and to use the measuring on the box (or the plastic piece if included in the box) to be sure you don't overuse it. The biggest concern I see is that now that the generic is OTC, people may not take the time to read the restrictions, such as limiting the amount used at one time, not using at the same time as oral NSAIDs, its effect on ACE, ARB, thiazides which many people with blood pressure take daily, etc.
Tried it for pain in my hands for a couple of weeks but it really didn’t do much if anything. I take 800mg of ibuprofen and feel like I’m in my 20s again…

Do you know how much Voltaren costs for ounces you get and how much one has to use daily? Also, it can only be used on two places at a time and can't be used on certain joints. Also, it takes about 7 days of use to start working. Not even affordable for lower income people.
When the guys online are better than the guys you pay. I just feel like I should make a donation every time I watch a video. I'd rather give my co pay to Bob and Brad. Can you guys comment on the methyl salicylate gels and creams? I have gotten very positive results with those.
Voltaren has a list of side effects not mentioned here
Thank you doc
Doesn’t video voltaren have a black box warning on it???
No warning on diclofenac gel.
It has been over the counter here in Italy forever, however those amounts are way over the top in my opinion.
Isn’t this safer than using ibuprofen or Tylenol?
So every time you use it… do you wash the spot where you applied or you don’t???🤔🤔
A coach showed me DMSO when I was a teenager, and that stuff was like wizardry. Strange side effects, but as far as joint and ligament pain.... had to be magic. Is there a reason people don't more widely use it as a topical?
For beginning hip p. I apply otc hormone 1% and helps for months. Doc said it would not be strong enough. Oh well. Worked for me.
OTC hormones? Please elaborate 🙂
@@maryg.7790 over the counter cortisone 1% for allergies.
Unfortunately this did nothing for my knee OA pain but I only tried it for 3 days and the pain and stiffness was unbearable.
Can I use this on both knees at the same time.
The doctor ordered it for me in prescription form 2 tubes . It does nothing . Absolutely nothing .
To feel the effect, u need to use it 4 times a day for a week at least
Get well soon
Applying Fireball on the skin works too, sounds crazy I know
Thanks! Great channel!
Tried it for pain in my hands for a couple of weeks but it really didn’t do much if anything. I take 800mg of ibuprofen and feel like I’m in my 20s again…
Already 4 year back ,a have and accident on motorcycle with broken tibia fibula and have surgery with rod inside already removed the rod,but I have pain in that leg so my question is I can use this product,???
Does it work for foot nerve pain?
Can I use this for TMJ? Worth a try right?
Did you try it for TMJ? I bought some for this but have not tried it yet.
@@thisandthat65 No I didn't. Have to be careful with your gut when you use this stuff. Let me know though.
@@MIlw55 Decided to go with CBD Balm and Magnesium supplements and cream. And also Collagen supplement. We will see how this works.
@@thisandthat65 Collagen like UCII?
I use a multi collagen protein powder.
Do you know how much Voltaren costs for ounces you get and how much one has to use daily? Also, it can only be used on two places at a time and can't be used on certain joints. Also, it takes about 7 days of use to start working. Not even affordable for lower income people.
you're wrong about the 7 days to start working. And I find it very affordable.
@@mySydan I guess you didn't read the insert info and you are not low income.
@@elainegoad9777 your assumptions are incorrect.
When the guys online are better than the guys you pay. I just feel like I should make a donation every time I watch a video. I'd rather give my co pay to Bob and Brad. And it made since to me that something is prescribed to limit our ability to get our hands on it. Imagine if people could just walkin and get opioids. The current epidemic of that is bad enough. God forbid it was next to Tylenol and Advil on the shelf.
I heard it takes a little time, as in a couple days, for it to become effective? It’s not immediate?
Very helpful.
How does this compare to Arnica?
Arnica is useless.
I was googling Voltarin and it said NOT to use it on your back. I'm confused
(5:00) the instructions included with Voltaren say don't use it on the shoulder
Very sorry to hear that. Hopefully this video helped give you some exercises you can start doing!
@@BobandBrad Yes. Thanks, it did. We called the Voltaren hotline and they have no data for the shoulder was thier reasoning.
Can you compare this product to products like bio freeze?
This did not work for me, neither does Ibuprofen or tylenol (for a very specific pain). Cortisone shots have been iffy. I haven't found relief in physical therapy either (3 years now) but the doctors keep pushing that on me too!
Golden years is a farce. So much body pain and nothing works for scoliosis, rotating hip, etc. 😢
Can I use Voltaren with mobic?
What about groin muscle all the way to thigh?
Voltaren gel vs Biofreeze?
You realize you can do research yourself, right? The two compounds are TOTALLY different. There is no way to compare them.
@@allegorx58 thanks doc! 😂 you mad?

I tried voltaren gel and unfortunately it didn't do anything for me. It was for my rhomboid.

Voltaren has done nothing for me. I am looking for a stronger prescription cream.
Many people respond to meth. Just sayin. It has a few side effects,
I am new to this site .i see items that you push more than others . Most have side effects that you talk about. I have not seen you talk about DMSO . I have used it , works fast ,other than taste ,not had side effects..can you talk about
how dose it compare to lidocaine ??
Great question. I'm wondering too I'm wearing the lidocaine patch right now
What about DMSO?
I used it, it works, but it made my skin itch. You have to allow dmso to dry too.
