Beautiful work as usual! I love that boat. I don’t know much at all about outboard motors. That’s an in-line six, vertical shaft two-stroke? What was the block material made out of? Pardon me if you mentioned it in the video, but I’m kind of watching this as I’m driving to work, got it up on the dashboard in the phone holder.

@@Tennesseemountainhomestead yes Inline 6 verticle shaft two stroke. Mercury made the inline 6 in different cubic inches from 1957 to 1987(I believe). From 60 to 99.4ci. This one is the 99.4 cubic inch block. They called them the tower of power back in the day. The blocks aluminum. This is the second one I’ve had crack in that same spot. The first one we welded with the spool gun and it kept cracking. We ended up scraping that one. Hopefully this holds if not I’ll be finding a block. These motors have sort of a cult following. I like the way they sound, they have a sound all to their own. It’s been pretty reliable I got the boat in 2020 did a ton of work to it and up until last year never had a problem. While the power head was off we replaced the crankshaft seals and did new gaskets for the exhaust defuser and cover. They’re prone to leak there as well. Why the trigger went bad sitting in a box for a year you tell me? It’s a pain in the but to replace you have to disassemble the distributer and reset the timing.
