Instead of a bee suit, you can also use rain gear. Rain pants, rain coat and a pair of fishing gloves. Wear a ball cap and a mosquito net. Draw in the strings for the waist, ankles and wrist so they can't sneak in. Done this several times. Works great. And a shop vac works great for collecting wasps and bees and such. Just gotta remember to put a bag over the end of the hose when you're done so they can't find their way out. Put about an inch of water with a few drops of dish soap in the bottom of the vac and they'll be dead in a hour.
Hi Ryan from Nelson New Zealand I watch your channel religiously and is without a doubt the best channel on utube. I am 79 years old and used to run a waste disposal in Nelson. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 you got me hooked at least for a while. I sent it to my son. I got a thumbs up. Good luck with talking your dad into investing in the slower shredder. Love what it does with the mattresses. 😮
We had 3 Cat scrapers we left on a finished job site for a couple weeks before moving to the next site. When we went to start the move the number of wasp/hornet nests in and on all 3 machines was unbelievable. 2 of us got stung a few times just checking them out. If you got within 10 feet of a nest they'd start boiling out in full attack mode...real aggressive little sob's. Our mechanic saved the day with a weed sprayer, water and a couple gallon jugs of Dawn dish soap. Mixed it pretty heavy with the soap. We laughed at him, told him we wanted them dead not clean, but the stuff killed the wasps on contact. Even the ones flying would intantly drop like a rock if they flew through the mist. Live and learn
just a few minutes before you said it i also had the thought about what kind of stresses those choppers take on a routine basis and keep on shredding. amazing engineering.
I’m very impressed with your forward thinking, the mountains of trash are there you have to do something with it. It’s too bad you can’t plant alfalfa or hay or something like that you could actually harvest and sell, but I understand about the tap group thing greenhouses are very interesting idea. I had one one time and the irrigation system was unpressable. It worked great, keep up the good work. I’ll keep watching your videos. Have a great day.
Glad your back making videos for us. Also glad you took us along on the trip, it was interesting and amusing. Curling. . . . who knew it was such fun. You have quite an operation going on, so many pieces of equipment. Looking forward to your demo time. What if. . . . . the next extinction event that the earth will face turns out to be a gigantic five mile tall wasp with a can of insect spray. . . . . . 😱😲🙀😾👾👽
Wasps seem to love anything yellow that sits for more than a day or two. As my brother said I don’t care if it takes a whole can for one wasp, at the end it’s a good day.
Hey brother, here's another easy, cheap way to get rid of the wasps. Take your garden sprayer, the one you use to spray weeds with, and mix us some soapy water, and spray them with the soapy water. The soap (dish liquid) breaks the surface tension on the water, and the wasps will drown, and the soap will cling to the wasps and they can't fly and they will die.
Had a thought about next years extravaganza, how about a zip wire across the pool.Should be nowhere as expensive as the slip and slide.Cable, trolleys and an anchor at each end. 👍
I think it would be interesting to run a side by side comparison of output of the 66 by itself vs. material that went through the 75 first. Overall fuel burn per ton of product for example. Would also have to somehow factor wear and tear on 2 vs. 1 machine I suppose. Thanks for the video!
I'm speaking in California wasp seasons/cycles but this late in the summer just going over that thing with a pressure washer with the 0 degree tip and knocking down the wasp nests gets it done just as well. I do it with my eaves, everyone has a swimming pool in the burbs and wasps love pools so it's generally a good harvest every year. A lot cheaper than the 7 bucks a can or whatever it is now.
Interesting idea to use the slopes for greening and selling plants. And setting up solar panels and greenhouses on the closed landfill is an ambitious and useful project. Good luck!
24:27 im curious about how stable the top of the landfill will be, for permanent structures. I like th idea of solar, but your on top of a massive windy hill, use it. I have seen modular vertical wind turbines on containers, essentially its a "decide you height" cylinder that is composed of 3 clam like wings that actuate on a central gear varying how much wind they grab, to keep energy output constant. the benefit here is you don't have to have the big tall windmill style ones,(with expensive gear boxes that attempt to regulate the speed of the wind on the blades) and the cylinder doesn't rely on directional wind, and they work effectively in large bunches. example company, Harmony Turbines, though they haven't hit production yet. from what i've read in the past few days (been on a greenhouse blackhole) is the majority of your incurred costs are heating, labor and water. if your able to put glass greenhouses, and capture water, and put turbines/solar,., i think your looking at a very profitable business.
Can't wait to see the sort line up and running, have you thought about automation on the sort line? Like an optical scanner and jet air selector? Don't know what ya sorting yet so.
i work for an industrial solar company an we have put solar on a couple landfills. another thing to do is catch the gas out of the landfill and sell it.
If you knock down all the sprayed (dead) wasp nests it would be easier to see the ones you didn't spray. I did that and it was nicer in the end. Less time determining if it was "got gotten" as you put it, then you wouldn't have to be in the suit as long. 🙂
You need to consider the dozy wasps that drop on the ground and crawl around as they will crawl up your clothes and if they happen to sting you they are carrying the wasp spray with them ,double whammy.

There are at least 3 reasons to spray wasp nests at night & they are: 1.) At night is when they all go back to the nest they call home. So at night the numbers are higher because they go back to their nest. 2.) At night they’re not just tending to the nest, some might be sleeping which makes them slow to react to being sprayed, 3.) Seems like there was a lot of cardboard in the landfill. Is there a different way in your area to deal with that? I know some areas do not have facilities to deal with it, so I was just wondering if this is the case.
Yes, our roll off container business also recycles cardboard!
I thought you were saying Gringo recycling! Lol
