Top Flite P51 D Mustang Fuselage build Part 1

  • In this video I take you along on the construction of the fuselage. All the video clips here are all basically from a year ago that were uploaded to the computer but never edited until today March 29, 2023. So bringing you up to speed on the P51D Mustang build series and its current status today. The reason for the delay of this build and or why it was placed on the back burner was because during the time of recording my Mom had become ill and was in and out of the hospital. I had to care for my mom till the day she passed away on December 24th, 2022. So now that things are getting back to normal I decided to get back to this P51 build. So thank you all for your patience during this time.

      Yes same here! I lost my Dad back in 2007 and now my Mom in 2022. I am their only child and it was pretty difficult trying to manage it all. I am almost 50 years old and thank God for my wife and children for all the support for I would have just went crazy if I were by myself. Anyhow life goes on and time to get back to it and all it's perks.

    It blows my mind how many pilots brag about how fast they throw an airplane together. Then in the next breath tell me they took off with reversed ailerons. Do as this man does. Take pride in your work, take your time, trust me it will pay off. My father tought me a lot about patience and doing things properly the first time. I'm so grateful he got me involved in this hobby at such a young age.

    • @BayonasRCWorld
      @BayonasRCWorld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes always a great practice to have patience, especially when building and finishing a model for flight. Complacency will bite you so even we have been doing this hobby for 40, 50, 60 years well for me it is 41 years now and I still ensure what I do is as good as I can get it from start to finish. Enjoy the process, make memories and most of all have lots of fun. Thanks for watching and the kind words in your comments.

    Mike, for you to be a care giver to your mom is something you can be very proud of, and she passed knowing that she had the best love, and the best care that a son could give. Good to see that you are back on the Mustang again, and to the point of Monokote, or Chinakote, verses glass and paint, my request would be for you to consider what the estimated weight difference would be, given that different colors of iron on covering weigh different amounts per square foot.

      Glad you enjoyed it! I am just being myself and not trying to be someone else in my videos. The way I speak and the lack of proper English or the perfect cinematic scene or transition, as long as what I am trying to capture tells a story or shows the process then that is all that matters. I am just capturing the process, the journey, the headaches and the mishaps one will or could go through. I never claim to be a professional in what I do! Just someone who is passionate in the hobby and loves what I do. I am glad that you can get a laugh and still able to enjoy the video. Thank you very much.

    First, sorry for your loss of your mom. My father passed when I was 7 and my mom was the world to me. She passed unexpectedly when I was 24. At 51 I'm still not over it. I was stationed in Japan in the early 90's and went to Guam for some R&R. I went to a bar called Wet Willy's on the beach and had a blast. Is it still there? Guam was beautiful! If I can find (and afford) either a TF P-51 or P-40 gold kit I'm going to use your videos for reference. I've watched them all and looking forward to more.

    Dont make the same mistake I did when I glued F-1B from the wrong side and it reversed my thrust angle. I didn't catch until I mounted my spinner to the engine. I corrected it with engine mount washers.

    • @BayonasRCWorld
      @BayonasRCWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      I always double and triple check before I glue things together. I also always do mock ups when feasible all precautionary measures before I set things permanently. I have had my fair share of oops that's for sure and during a build it could be very frustrating to say the least. Thanks for the lookout for sure!

    Hey brother if you can get them the Sierra retracts are better quality and have a much more positive trunion lock. You can also go cheap and get the pboenix models retracts they are much cheaper and look good and work just as well if you ask me. The cattelac of retracts though is the electron retracts. They have the best craftsmanship in my opinion.

    • @BayonasRCWorld
      @BayonasRCWorld  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If only Sierra had retracts for the 1/7th scale P51 but unfortunately they don't make them. I had inquired ever since I was building my P40E Warhawk since I had purchased 100deg rotating retracts from them for the P40 and love it more than Robarts.

      All depends as to what transpires throughout the sale of my home and property here on Guam. I am and have been preparing to sale my home here and relocate back Stateside probably in Texas. So I still have the P51 and DC3 that I basically placed on hold right when my mother passed away. I had a few attempts to get started but kept getting pulled in all directions. So if I sell my home before I start back on the build I will definitely start back on it once I settle my family and I Stateside. I might just start all over with another kit and continue the build series where I left off or take the current kit unfinished model with me. Only time will tell! Just settling with a few home issues and then my realtors takes it from there.
