    This song summed up my life for the last 5 years. It gave me the drive to change my situation for the better. My train pulled in I got on it and moved 1500 miles and left the only place I'd known for most of my life.

    One thing few mention is Austin Texas is a place where Black people still listen to blues. Gary came up in a scene that is open to new blood but so rooted in the chitlin circuit and the revival of the Kings ( B.B., Freddie and Albert) career. taking nothing from Gary's talent but he did come from a place where playing the blues is just what we do :). His great Uncle ( W.C.) was the link between the Dallas Kids ( Vaughn Bros, Doyle Bramhall) and the East Austin blues scene.He still plays and is a great human and great performer

    Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! That guitar solo at the end. Its not just notes being played. Some sort of primal beast is wailing a tortured scream as if in intense pain.

    Okay , so I saw Gary Clark Jr. At Antone's in Austin Texas years ago and he blew my mind then. Now it's like Stevie, Jimi, and Curtis Mayfield all got together and gave up all of their heart and soul. I am Gobsmacked at how utterly amazing Gary Clark Jr. is.

    Why isn't he more popular? He's so good!

    • @bwc12minus38
      @bwc12minus38 9 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      He's getting more recognition but he hasn't blown up because people listen to this garbage calls dubstep and they settle on poor music. Anyone who doesn't play their own instruments is not a musician to me. I play guitar so I'm pretty opinionated about this

    • @brandoncastle7309
      @brandoncastle7309 9 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Randy Durger I disagree. I'm a guitarist as well, I play very similar blues styles like this, I also play a lot of indie rock type stuff, but I also am part of an EDM duo, we make electronic music, like house and trance and chill step, etc, we also produce hip hop beats. Idk if you have ever used digital audio before but there's a tremendous amount of musical knowledge and talent that goes into it. A lot of sound mixing, and you have to have knowledge of many instruments. Just because you don't hit drums or bend strings doesn't mean it's not music, it's just a through different platform than what you might be into. Most artists that create electronic music have a lot of ability on the piano, guitar and definitely drums. You'd probably be surprised about what all goes into it.

    • @brandoncastle7309
      @brandoncastle7309 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      amanda miller That is absolutely ridiculous. What would you say defines musicianship then? Times change and instruments evolve. The Piano didn't always exist, it was evolved from the harpsichord. Do you think when they started off with the guitar that they would've foreseen Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat model? I have been studying music for years. Not just sitting on my bed strumming a guitar or laying down kicks and claps on digital software, but waking up for 8 AM music theory courses. Digital Audio is the future, it really is. As a musician, I can create sounds through many instruments via Digital Audio Workstation, as a musician I can change and modulate the sound you hear, as a musician I have to orchestrate the entirety of all the sounds, all the effects, I create everything. If you are telling me because I don't sit down and rosin my bow that I'm not a musician, then you are ignorant.

      He's been in the public eye since about 2011. I've seen him live a bunch of times and have everything he's released. He's a good one to catch up on and I think you'll be happy if you search him out. Lots of really famous musicians love this guy and want him to be the standard-bearer for bluesy rock music going forward. He's still a young guy and is still growing and learning.

    This man is truly talented. I saw him perform before the Stones came on stage on the Zip Code Tour 2015 at Petco Park. His playing was magnificent and his voice was amazing. It was fun to see him switch between his array of guitars of different colors. Put up a very entertaining show, it's just too bad so many people weren't giving him the attention he deserved at the time. Anyways, anyone who is considering following this man, do it. You will not regret it. Rock on.

    I discovered this masterpiece of a musician today and I'm on song #5 of his, each one full of fire, swagger, serious talent, innovation, love, pain, and everything vital in truly great music. And he's shredding not just that guitar, but also every illusory boundary delineating what a "genre" in music is. WAS. Incredible. So much love to be found... just gotta be willing to accept it when it shows up, no matter how it's packaged. Fire.

    "When My Train Pulls In"
    Everyday nothing seems to change
    Everywhere I go I keep seeing the same old things and I
    I can't take it no more
    Oh, I would leave this town
    But I ain't got no where else to go
    Wake up in the morning to more, more bad news and I
    Sometimes I feel like I was born to lose and I
    It's driving me out of my mind
    Gonna catch the next train and I
    And move on down the line
    Whoah I'll be ready now
    I'll be ready when my train pulls in
    Whoah I'll be ready now
    I'll be ready when my train pulls in
    I know my time ain't long around here and I
    I can't live this life again
    Walking down the street you might wanna cross a smiling face
    But they'll stab you in the back as soon as you turn and walk away and I
    Oh Lord, it's bringing me down
    If things don't change around here
    Ain't no use in my hanging 'round
    Whoah I'll be ready now
    I'll be ready when my train pulls in
    Whoah I'll be ready now
    I'll be ready when my train pulls in
    I know my time ain't long around here and I
    I can't live this life again

      I like hard rock and gutsy blues music...but this guy is so loose...his use of feedback...I see glimpses of Jimi Hendrix in him...I really like his style...i wish him all the best!

    I feel like art is meant to convey emotions, feeling, angst. This video is really powerful, accompanied by a wonderful track with thoughtful lyrics ,and a soulful cadence

      Kazeumi When you talk about cadence you don't mean perfect, imperfect, plagal or interrupted cadence? Because there is no cadence, the last 2 chords are G and Em which is chord III-I which isn't a cadence

      I suggest you check all the meanings for that word. I meant his voice. No word in the English Language has only one isolated meaning. But, thank you for commenting.

    Such an underrated artist, my younger brother and I always shared links to music, on hearing of his sudden passing to suicide I checked those messages…this song stood out to me and related so much I had this played at his funeral. So apt yet such a beautiful and sad song, like it was written for him. Rip Murray 👩‍👦💞xx
