"Viserys went to sleep and never woke. He was 52 years old and had reigned over Westeros for twenty-six years. Then the storms broke and the dragons danced...."
They hold him dead in his room for days.
"Define consent for me Aegon" 💀💀
The way I bawled when Viserys walked into the throne room. Tbh one of my top moments even counting GOT moments. All Rhaenyra had to say was defend me 😭😭😭
Same here. One of the best moments in GOT universe.
My all-time favorite moment in television.
Well technically she used the song of ice and fire as her way to convince him to defend her lol "if you wish me to bear it, then defend me. And my children"
When he looked up to see Daemon helping him was the exact moment that broke me. Just beautiful writing and acting.
The ideal father daughter relationship
Aemond 100% has Daemon's poster in his locker.
He is Daemon’s stan lol. I picture him flying around with Vhagar hoping he gets Daemon's autograph ahhah
@@crystall.411 Bwaaahahahahahaha!
With "I ❤ Daemon" written in red ink, and he has a picture of Daemon and Rhaenyra but he cut out Rhaenyra's face and pasted a picture of himself over it
"My Love", Viserys' final words, was an ad lib from Paddy Considine. Viserys never stopped loving Aemma. 😢
That’s when I really lost it. I lost it when he walked to the throne, and then sooooobs when he “saw” Aemma.
15:09 "he's not walking to the throne, he's walking to her." - Geeta Patel director S1 E8
Yes defending the shit show that he created in first place 😂
@@AK-pw3oqits literally better than GoT so far, at least season 1 of GoT
@@Cool_beansmh I don't think they meant the show was shit hahaha, they meant "shitshow" as in the problems Viserys caused by marrying Allicent.
@@justinehercthehuman6941 Marrying Alicent was not shitshow . Marrying Alicent to have male heirs and then not making them as heir to throne was shit show since whole purpose of second marriage was to have male heirs
@@AK-pw3oq marrying a daughter of a Westerosi house was a shit show lmao giving a lord the power of having half Targaryen grandsons was a mistake
Another part of Alicent misunderstanding is that Viserys once told her of his own dream of his son in the Conqueror's crown
Daemon being the one to pick up the crown and give it back to viserys is my favorite moment of the season. He called out Otto and the court years ago and only ever wanted to help his brother but because he was so FIREY and quick tempered nobody trusted him. Reality is the “Rogue Prince” was the most loyal of them all. This TRULY is the best episode of the season with everything that happened.
The crown falling was also improvised, it was not in the script.
@@adk7165 IK!!! Matt smith is such a great actor I watched all the behind the scenes stuff. They had a different sending off for the 2 planned but he did that and it worked so much better
It's a heart-breaking moment. If the King had named Daemon his Hand years ago, who knows how things would've turned out.
@@vickster5001 a lot of blood of enemies to the family some even unnecessarily that’s for sure but in terms of royal matters like governing and politics it would’ve been done correctly.
I agree, the actor who plays Viserys REALLY made me feel for the character, he acted his ass off. This is the best episode of the season for me.
Fun fact: If you rewatch the scene while Vaemond is speaking Daemon looks to Rhaenyra who nods to give him the go ahead to do what he did to Vaemond. He checks in with her before he does it. Always funny to rewatch that.
Daemon has always deferred to her. It's respect and admiration, as well as family loyalty. You also saw how fast he backed down when she confronted him early on about the stolen dragon egg. Family means everything to Daemon
that was NOT to tell daemon to kill vaemond! That started on twitter and has been debunked !. Not everything Daemond does is for her and i hope the next seasons reveal this!
I was soooo pissed off that Paddy Consadine (Viscerys) wasn’t nominated for Emmy or Golden Globe for this episode.
His whole performance was so amazing for the entire series and this episode should have been his nomination. Unfortunately it was a really strong year, and he would have lost to Kieran Culkin.
@@donnaraphael9350 The fact that *none* of the cast got a single acting nomination was weird to me. Even though I don't think they would have won considering how the Succession cast absolutely dominated the lead actor and actress and supporting actor categories the entire award season (with good reason, those performances were almost unmatched) and the categories were absolutely stacked this year, I still think Paddy, Emma and Olivia should have gotten a nomination at the least.
Raenyra needed to marry Daemon to strengthen her claim to the throne. Especially with the questions of her eldest boys' parentage.
Having a male Targ by her side could help soothe those in the realm who are opposed to having a Queen.
Possibly, but many people don't trust Daemon and didn't want Rhaenyra on the throne specifically because of Daemon.
@pajamaparty01 Yeah but he provided more legitimacy than Laenor, and it's not like there was another Targaeryon suitor waiting in the wings.
Other than the fact that he is the only reason that Rhaenyra even got chosen as heir.
You couldn’t pick a worse consort.
@@lynnjohanssen6552Aegon and Aemond
@@DanLanningPRTeam They were just babies when she was of age and being pressured to wed by her father and enemies by the time she decided that Laenor couldn't help her in her claim.
When screen went black at the end and viserys said "my love" he was talking to his true love Aemma who he just saw on the other side. He reunited with her with his last words
"Beware the beast beneath the boards."
I cried so much when Viserys went to defend his daughter in the throne room. What a scene! And Daemon putting his crown back on...
And yeah, Cody's spot on with his interpretation of what Alicent understood.
a Daemon se le da muy bien hacernos llorar cuando claudica ante esa gran corona
Aemond is so obsessed with Daemon, he probably has a poster of him over his bed. 😂
His last words were Aemma, his first wife. At least he died happy, believing everything is good, which it really isn't.
Hope he is watching the rest of the show along with us
Paddy not getting awards for his performance is criminal.
That subtle smile Viserys gives when he sees his family at peace at supper before finally letting go is heartbreaking.
Cody & Brig, since it is never said on the show I'll share this info with you.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Paddy Considine disclosed that Viserys is "actually suffering from a form of leprosy." Considine explained, "His body is deteriorating, his bones are deteriorating. He is not actually old, as he looks at the end.
He didn't even need to mention it if you're at all informed about the condition and how it presents, it was made all too obvious
21:53 One thing I found interesting about Viserys was his face, the bad side is on Alicent's side (the greens) and the good side is on the side of Rhaenyra his daughter (the blacks).
oooh, that's an interesting detail!!!
That was consistent throughout the episode, too. Interesting.
Such a great catch! Love this.
Alicent to think Viserys meant their son after everything he’s done for his daughter to become Queen once he’s gone blows my mind still.
She was always going to interpret it how she wanted to even if he outright said "Aegon the conquerors dream"
You can convince yourself of anything if you want it badly enough
Because if she admits that Aegon wasn't the one Viserys wanted and that he isn't fit to rule she also admits she lost Rhaenyra's friendship and spent years of her life on being paranoid and bitter for nothing. We see this in the season 2 trailers, she's beginning to understand that Otto planting the seeds of mistrust and paranoia in her basically ruined her life and friendship with the most important person in her life at the time.
@@Marta-uv4id Have you read the book?
@@courtneylconover80 No but I do know most of the plot, and the show is obviously taking quite a different route.
The actor who plays Aemond plays such a different role in The Lask Kingdom. I think you guys would love that show.
Baby Monk! ❤ Oh I soo love The Last Kingdom, I've watched it all through many times over the years and it's so so good. I subsequently watched a few other Viking shows since but I spoilt myself by watching TLK first cos nothing compares imo. I really hope these guys watch it at some point, I'd follow along in a heartbeat ❤
@tammysquire6992 Exactly. So many people loved Vikings but I watched TLK first and wanted more so I tried to watch Vikings. I have never been able to get very far into it. TLK is just soooo much better. There are two shows I am desperate for them to react to and it's TLK and The Expanse.
Tlk is so underrated and amazing. Rewatching it rn with the whole family, amazing captivating story!
Tlk is freaking great. Osferth is great.
I prefer vikings I think I've watched it over and over 50000 times 😅😅😅 But I love the name Uhtred son of Uhtred 😅😅😅
This is what you get when you name everybody Aegon, Aemond, Daemon, Vaemond etc. How about Bob for once?
One good ‘Mary’ might’ve saved the whole deal
'Too Many Aegons' could be the Targaryen's house words
The women's names are just as bad...Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, Rhaena...😩
Remember to pour one out for our fallen King. Paddy Considine gave the most incredible performance that I've possibly ever seen. The fact that he didn't get an Emmy for this episode is a travesty.
When I watched this and Vaemond's head flew off, I yelled out, "Holy shit I didn't know he was Canadian!"
I almost said something about it when he was on the table after 😭😂😂😂😂
Hey buddy, what do you mean I’m not going to inherit Driftmark
Shoulda guessed with that flappy head and beady eyes.
You guys Vaemond said a Queen sits the throne because Viserys is dying and senile so Alicent is basically running everything😭
Figured it out once we got there! 🤣🤣
"It's true but I don't know if you'll like the ending"
That made me laugh out loud haha, you're so funny
I support both Rhaenyra and Alicent and I have seen most reactors be all in for Rhaenyra and completely dismiss anything Alicent does. I appreciate that you can see the faults in both of them and aren’t blinded by a bias, even though having a preference for one or the other is inevitable.
Aegon the Conqueror's vision of The Song of Ice and Fire was only told to Raenyra as the heir. Alicent has never heard it, so she couldn't understand if she wanted to.
"Her children are bastards" said Vaemond Calmly.
Bridgette: “Are they trying to put him back together? What are they doing…?” 😅🤣😂
Guys don't forget that Viserys and Alicent had 4 children: Aegon, Helaena, Aemond and Daeron.
Do we ever see Daeron? Zero recollection if so.
No, he is in Oldtown during this time. He will be in season 2 i think. @@that.ll_do_pig
@@that.ll_do_pig From what I remember, he wasn't even mentioned in s1.
To be fair, they can't forget what they don't know... to date, Daeron wasn't even mentioned in the show.
@jaimeoliveira7550
you're right. The show runners confirmed he does exist and is in oldtown. Hopefully he does appear next season tho.
Never did I think an old man taking a slow walk to a chair would make for one of the best scenes I’ve seen. I get goosebumps every time I see this scene.
guys Vyseris is not dying of old age, he has leprosy, thats what consuming him slowly
I mentioned this early on, as it's never told outright. It's only heavily implied, and you only get it if you already know what Leprosy is. I got screamed at for "spoilers" by saying it was leprosy (nothing else) despite it never been told.
Crazy thing is when Otto wasn’t the hand he seemed to be a little healthier.
@@monlovchel Things are not always what they seem but I will say Viserys had far less stress in his life when Lionel Strong was the Hand. That can have a great affect on health
@@monlovchel U just saying shit. Otto wouldnt want Viserys to die quickly as that would not benefit him
Just a correction when Bridget said Aemon is the youngest. Aemond is the 3rd born, but he has a 4th born younger brother in the Reach being fostered by his mother’s uncle.
In Old Town specifically
What’s the reason for him not being raised with the others?
@Fanproductions usually the younger kids who don't inherit seats get fostered elsewhere, like Ned was with Jon Arryn in the Eyrie. Daeron is being raised by Otto's brother
@@skumar93323 love the decision the show made to not tell us there is another important child in the mix. Really good writing decision.
Keep in mind Viserys had a probably prophetic dream about his son on the throne. He told Aemma about it and he told Alicent. In that context, Alicent's interpretation of Viserys's final words makes sense.
Also it would help if everyone wasn't named Aegon. Rhaenyra was petty for that.
Yep. He also told her about it in episode 3 if I'm not wrong. So that is another reason for her to interpret it that way.
I don't think Raenyra was petty for naming her son Aegon. She had no intention of having her Aegon usurp her eldest son as her heir. Her Aegon would be very unlikely to be king. It's not different than Rhaegar having two sons by two women named Aegon. It's just a very popular royal name. Kind of like Elizabeth.
The problem is she completely ignores the part where he explicitly talks about the cold and dark, she only wants to hear what she wants to hear, even if viserys said "Aegon the conquerors dream" she would've ignored it, viserys was adamant for 20 years that rhaenrya should be heir and then once he's dying and on milk of the poppy that's when she takes his word
@@lynnjohanssen6552 Jon’s name has not been revealed in the books.
There are not that many Aegons. She could have named him after Daemon or her grandfather. Instead she chose her brother who was named fate the founder of the dynasty because Otto wanted him to be king.
@havok6280 I don't think she named her son after her brother. Everyone named Aegon is named so after Aegon the Conqueror.
Powerful and Poignant moment is when King Viserys slowly climbs the steps to the throne and loses his crown and Daemon helps him and places the crown 👑 on his Brother’s head 🎉
Showed him caring about his Brother
I cry every time I see that scene.
"aemma..... my love." *sees her in dream and dies*. he loved his wife from episode 1 and regretted his actions till the second he died. such a powerful scene.
One does not simply watch a bridgeco episode without saying brrriiiiiiidddgeeettttttte with her hahaha love the vids guys
People forget so quickly that even they suggest that Viserys should be on milk of the poppy and then when it happens they think Alicent is being devious!
She decided to use it to her advantage. She was objectively being devious. lol
@@idakev I was gonna add that it was to her advantage but even still he needs it lol
Respect! Y'all. YEAP! "Dark Sister" is no "Needle" LOL!
Interestingly, Arya mentions Dark Sister during one of her conversations with Tywin...she was a great admirer of Visenya, who was the original "owner" of Dark Sister
This is the best episode of this show by FAR. So moving, and emotional
My TH-cam has been dry lately so thank you for what you guys are doing for my entertainment. Got here super early this time 🤣
27:24 At the end Viserys said "My love" he saw Aemma his truly love.
the juxtaposition between hot fuzz, the worlds end and house of the dragon just exhibits paddy considine's sheer range man
He was also excellent in Control as Joy Division’s manager. I hope I see him in more and one day will get all the awards.
Plan Tea. 😂
Yeah, Damon is crazy AF. Aemond most definitely did not want any of that smoke.
Aemond doesn't fear Daemon, in fact he is looking forward to the day they meet on the battlefield.
I love how you keep saying that Viserys is so old yet he's only in his early 50's in this episode. Also the reason why Daemon doesn't age that much is that he's only in his mid 40's.
Viserys has been drinking Milk of The Poppy ever since his wounds from sitting on the Iron Throne incorrectly have festered, in the past 6 years he has drank even more to the point where his mind is slowed and so Alicent more or less rules in his stead.
And for that the greens are evil? I´d say Rhaenyra is the evil one for letting him alone for 6 years without even visiting him and letting him rot and still asking more of him coz that´s who she is
There's no way you're serious, alicent and Otto made viserys a literal heroin addict and you're blaming rhaenrya@@user-xj3gx5tc6v
@@user-xj3gx5tc6v There was nothing in my comment insinuating that the Greens are evil. It doesn't even mention them, so I've no clue why your are bringing that up. All I said was how he had been using Milk of The Poppy for a long while and how it addled his mind to a point where he couldn't sit the throne.
@@user-xj3gx5tc6v Calm down.
The scene where Daemon gave Viserys his crown brought me to tears when I watch it. Even though they bumped heads Daemon still loved his brother.
Honestly, Vaemond Velaryon went out like a badass. He knew fine well what was going to happen once he stood up and started speaking, but he knew he was right, so he was going to say his piece no matter what.
Too bad she had no choice. What was she supposed to do as the heir, never have kids because her husband was gay and couldn't perform? lol I mean, you do what you gotta do! lol
But he wasn't right. The throne isn't his.. he wanted it for himself.
“He can keep his tongue” daemon is absolutely filthyyyy wit it😭😂
One of the best episodes in all of GOT. RIP Viserys the Peaceful.😢
Oh that scene with Rhaenyra and Viserys breaks my heart and the way Peepaw Otto slinks behind Alicent lol 😂
new insult unlocked, calling someone "a fucking nerdle" has a good ring to it
Chills when Viserys walks into the thrown room and Daemon helps him with his crown!!! Such a fantastic episode.
Aemond is the priest friend of Utred in the Last Kingdom
He's also the Math guy from Saltburn
Osferth aka Baby Monk ❤
7:20 ....
Yep 😂
😂😂
I love that scene with Viserys coming to the throne room for Rhaenyra so much because it just proves how much he truly loves her and what he's still willing to do for her in the face of the ongoing political nonsense. Then the moment with Daemon makes it all the more better because none of that was supposed to happen. The crown falling off his head was an accident while filming and the following moment with Daemon picking it up, helping him to the throne and placing the crown atop his head was completely improvised by Paddy and Matt. (chef's kiss)
I love how Cody picked up on everything this episode a lot of people miss things this episode great job both of you 😊 can’t wait for the last 2 episodes
This episode is a masterclass in writing and acting and it broke my heart to pieces.
Paddy Considine deserved an Emmy for this.
The reason why Viserys seemed to age so much is because he had leprosy, which is also what caused his death over the many years.
you cut out the final "my love", last words of Viserys😢
I love that Cody full on picked up on everything from that last scene. A lot of people didn't fully comprehend it, or only did in the following episode, so it's refreshing to see someone fully understand it and how messy it can become.
Paddy Considine who played Viserys acting was really really good the last few episodes ngl
Paddy is such a good looking man out of costume too lol
“I understand, my king. You suddenly want the most useless and pervy of our two sons to be the heir because reasons.”
"He can keep his tongue" 🤯🤯🤯
Remember too that Viserys was troubled by his own dream and he told Allicent during the hunt about his doubts. He dreamed of a son born to him wearing the conquerors crown.
Allicent would no doubt remember that, and so it wouldn't be completely out of nowhere that he might say this to her on his death bed.
14:33 Vaemond is very dumb, because Rhaenyra also has Velaryon blood through her great-grandfather Old King Jaehaerys Targaryen and her great-grandmother Queen Alyssane Targaryen. The mother of Jaehaerys and Alyssane was Alyssa Velaryon who married the only son of Aegon I The Conqueror Targaryen and Queen Rhaenys Targaryen who was Aenys I Targaryen. The mother of Aegon I and Visenya and Rhaenys was also a Velaryon. Vaemond should have studied the family better instead of making accusations against Rhaenyra and saying that she does not know Velaryon blood when in fact Rhaenyra has Targaryen blood as well as Velaryon blood.
He was unconcerned about her bloodline. He just wanted the house seat
He just wanted it for himself. Titles go to children before uncles.
Best episode of the season and not a dragon in sight 👏👏👏
That swing of DARK SISTER is the same one that Daemon used on PRINCE CRAGHAS DRAHAR, aka the Crab Feeder. ✌️
im team black all the way just because they seem like the best option out of the two sides
They're all such messy lizard people with little to no compassion for the smallfolk.
fun fact, when rhaenyra asked if Rhaenys planned to vouch for herself for driftmark, she meant just that. Rhaenys herself does also have a claim to driftmark seeing as her grandmother is a Velaryon.
daemon killing him is probably my favorite scene in this entire show. it was perfection “he can keep his tongue “
Rhaenyra couldn't tell Rhaenys because she would have the same issues she has with her older sons, her younger sons would be illegitimate along with her marriage to Daemon. She married Daemon to strengthen her claim since Alicent married Aegon and Helaena. Aemond got that big dragon energy lmao. I also feel bad for Rhaenys because her life has sucked so bad recently.
Wait till you see what's behind Aemon's patch
I love that your dog is on the Black's side!❤ (red collar)
i absolutely adore the scene where viscerys walks into the throne room to defend rhae 🖤 and i can’t tell you how ridiculously frustrated and mad i get at that last scene when he thinks he’s talking to rhae, it actually drives me nuts. it’s a great scene and the writing is fantastic obviously, this entire show is incredible but my god i get so mad everytime i see it (yes i’ve rewatched this and GoT multiple times lol). i’m loving your guys reactions and can’t wait to see the rest of the season as well as see you guys react to season 2! 🖤

Same. Episodes 7 & 8 were my favorites
I think it’s the best one.
I am team black; primarily because that's the succession the king wantedn
I'm on whatever team Jon Snow is descended from, since he's the only king I recognize. The rest of these Targaryens and the other houses are freaking crazy.
And yet he did nothing to help her shore up alliances, or to smooth things over with her siblings. No one in this show makes good decisions...but I guess that's what keeps the action crazy and interesting.
@@fakecubedLMAO it’s so funny how y’all try to play favorites with Jon when EVERY OTHER HOUSE IS JUST AS INCESTOUS AND CRAZY like truly grow up and educate yourself

Again, such a good job by everyone in the show. Paddy Considine, King Viserys, did such an amazing job during the whole series especially this episode. Also great job by Matt Smith as Daemon. Great natural unscripted moment between them in this episode.
And not in defense of Alicent's Prince Aegon, but it seems among other things he suffers from the "spare heir" syndrome. Being Targaryen seems to make that even worse.
Okay I know we aren’t really team Alicent BUT to say “you haven’t been a good mom” because her son MADE HIS decision to r*pe girls, it’s entirely fair. Blame all parents for their kids assaulting someone.. nah that ain’t it. Love y’all’s reactions! I’m STOKED for season 2 and to watch with you both!
Aemond is played by a guy who I believe was in a Netflix series “The Last Kingdom”. It’s a hell of a series, Viking era Great Britain origin story about the son of a Viking. Check it out!
KING VISERYS💚💚😭😭
Sometimes I just feel like saying "Really Rhaenyra? You just HAD to give your child the same name as Alicent's oldest?" If she hadn't there wouldn't have been confusion when Viserys said the name talking to Alicent.
in regards to Aemond - ASK HIM A SUM!!!!!!!! Yes, I have been waiting since Saltburn to say that.
I'm very sad.
Everytime I watch the scene of Viserys walking into the throne room, I cry. Bawl my eyes everytime
And that's how over-reusing of first names in the family ends. Be original, parents! The kid can always ascend to throne under traditional name they themselves pick.
You guys are absolutely hilarious! 💯
I can only hope to be half as entertaining!
Can't wait for 9&10!
Keep up the epic work 🤩🤩
Aemon is about to get a SERIOUS UPGRADE
jon snow's name is also aegon . . . . .
Hahah the end of this episode could have been prevented if people weren’t so damn obsessed with their own name and have to share names with the generations. Oh boy.
7:19 *gulps*
I can't tell if Otto Hightower is more like little finger or varys, but very interesting character so far
Mysaria / the white worm is the Varys of the show
Littlefinger, I guess. But even then otto is no where near the level of littlefinger imo.
Little finger was not that stupid. The wars he incited actually brought him something unlike Otto.
Little bit of both I think. Plus a little Tyrell in terms of trying to climb up the social/royal ladder
A combination of Littlefinger and Tywin. Devious and plotting like Littlefinger and its all about family, Tywin
Helaena (Aemond and Aegons sister) is a very interesting character. I suggest to rewatch the season after you're done and pay attention to the things she says. It's suspected she has prophetic abilities, though it's not confirmed. But, at the table she says "Beware the beast beneath the boards." It's a small clue of what's to come 🙃
theres something so funny about making the house that's so worried about the distinction of blood and names be, quite literally, the only one of a black family. It's an oversight by the writers to think this wouldn't color the opinion people have of Rhaenyra considering she's trying to supplant them with Lucerys.
In the books they are white (for those that don’t know) so it really shouldn’t matter at all. That and Rhaenys has jet black hair like the Baratheon’s . Also, she is not trying to supplant - Laenor KNEW and CLAIMED the boys as did Lord Corlys, and I believe Viserys did as well. PLUS they ARE Targaryen - and TRUE descendants of the throne. Unlike Joffrey who was NOT a true descendant of Robert Baratheon. Rhaenyra’s children were claimed by all that mattered and by the King. So it is law. Vaeminf, Otto, and Alicent have absolutely no legal say nor standing.
He really isn't concerned with blood, though.
Thanks for the toothpaste info, Bridgette!😂😂
If you judge Daemon only by what see him do and hear him say rather than what Otto tells the King about Daemon, you begin to understand that Daemon always knew his place as the 2nd son, was always loyal to his brother the King, and only ever wanted to serve his brother by being the strength Viserys did not have.
Otto knew that his only play for power was to separate Daemon from Viserys's side.
Pretty spot on calling aemond, aegons attack dog thats basically what he is lol
