Guys, I have to say Aegon's coronation was cool. The tolling of the bells that mark the King's passing and Aegon's accession, the announcing of Viserys'death and giving him the epiteth "the Peaceful", the fanfair, Aegon's walk under the sword passage, the anointing, the crowning, the proclamation of his titles, the rumbling cheers of the people and, finally, his waving of the Conqueror's sword. Very powerful, an event that remains in the history of Westeros. I'm only sorry about a few things: Viserys not being given a proper funeral, which is even in the books, but nonetheless distasteful; the absence of Queen Helaena's own crowning by Alicent and Aegon's three circles of the city on Sunfyre; and that Rhaenys' scene, which was liked by many, although in my opinion was senseless. Overall, epic scene.
It proves so much about this family and this society that Rhaenys didn't care about killing who knows how many smallfolk with her dragon stunt, but she couldn't bring herself to be a kinslayer and kill the people who were starting a war that will kill and displace thousands.
She didn't know what Rhaenyra's reaction to the greens would be so it would have been wrong for her to act independently, especially with such extreme violence and kinslaying.
Who the fuck cares what they support, they are random Starks? Only coz they are honorable with oaths mainly and at the end they fought for survival coz Aegon didnt want to forgive them for the dead of their family members and was hunting them down after killing Rhaenyra
Rhaenys was the beast beneath the boards. That entrance was written in the same cursive. that Daenerys with the dragon wings after conquering Kings Landing
Helaena says 'There is a Beast beneath the boards' and you would think, considering a dragon ran through the floor of the Dragonpit, but in fact, if you see that Aegon was hiding beneath the board too, and when Aegon is crowned Helaena deflects the look in fear

I don’t feel like Viserys saying he wants them to be a family makes him any better as a father/grandfather. He is the one that has built this situation by being a terrible king and a terrible father to both Rhaenyra and his children with Alicent. It doesn’t really matter your intentions when your actions never followed suit. Had he been a good father to ALL his children, the war would’ve probably never happened.
It's easy to blame visarys but it's not just his fault it's Ottos fault for dividing the family by manipulating alicent, it's alicents fault for teaching her kids to hate the rheanyras ,it's rhenyreas fault for being reckless and irresponsible causing the divide between herself and alicent , it's daemons fault for being a asshole which forced visarys to disinherit him in the first place multiple pieces were put into place to make this situation the way it is .
@@thatoneblackdude3333 yes everyone fucked up, but the king had the power to change how all of this played out. He just didn't have the brains. He who has the power holds the responsibility. So Viserys is responsible for this. Simple as that.
Right decision? Alicent has always done what her father or the king has told her to do bc it was her duty now that she believes the kings dying wish was for her son to be king people expect her to stop doing whatever she was told to do? She’s done that for 40 yrs now when she does it there’s an issue with it. Realistically if you go and sit and talk with someone you wouldn’t expect them to just randomly continue a conversation they had 24 hrs ago that you were unaware took place with another human no matter how out of it they were especially when the names and details match up to where you can at least make a little sense out of what they’re saying. When you hear nonsense you try to decipher it and that’s what she did
Alicent went far beyond mere duty years ago when she allowed Larys to go unpunished for murdering his father and brother. Her duty was to report him and have him arrested. Attacking the princess with a knife isn't exactly dutiful either. Alicent's sense of duty only applies to actions that benefit her.
White Worm didn't kidnap Aegon. She told him his dad was dead and hid him at his request because he didn't want to be king. And then she gave his location up for political advantage.
I always took that to be an author's biased addition. Rhaenyra may have been called "The Realm's Delight" but in truth that was only among the lords and ladies. As Jorah Mormont explains to Dany, the smallfolk take no interest in the games the high lords play. For them to cry out for Rhaenyra, someone they don't know at all, when surrounded by green soldiers doesn't really make any sense.

poor helaena looks away as aegons being crowned, she doesn’t want it, she knows what’s happening is WRONG. also if you remember, daemon created the gold cloaks, otto was ordering them to open the doors but they were doing the opposite, this is shown because the gold cloaks favor daemon and want to see daemons ascent, so they were actually hoping that trapping melys in there would stress her out and would therefore burn everyone to a crisp and ending everything right then and there.
Being a people pleaser was one of Viserys' worst traits as king, as well as simply wanting to ignore every problem and hope for the best. We saw him do it with the Stepstones, a problem he ignored until Corlys and Daemon fixed it for him, and we see him let his family's dysfunction spiral out until war was inevitable. Like you said, he never should have brought Otto back in as Hand. He also probably should have forced the marriage between Jace and Helaena, even though it would have ruined his relationship with Alicent. Getting the kids away from Alicent might have also been a good decision because if he was paying attention he would know how toxic her influence was. He maybe even should have disinherited Rhaenyra when she started popping out the bastards. It's awful the way women have their sexuality controlled in this society, but is standing up to that sexism worth thousands (maybe millions) of people being killed, raped and displaced worth it? Sorry I wrote an essay here, just needed to get that off my chest! Thanks for the videos!
I'm def not team green, but I can't get on team black either. Have a hard time accepting that Rhaenyra's bastard kids will be heirs to the throne (the literal plot point of GoT seasons 1-3)
Even tho they are bastards they were raised as princes of the realm and behave as such. Much better princes that Alicents sons ever were. I would prefer jace being king than Aegon or Aemond a thousand times
So you agree with the system? A bastard son doesn't deserve anything in life because their father is not the son of someone's son of someone else's son? But apart from that, it's okay to not pick sides. As Shireen said in GoT: (about Aegon and Rhaenyra) "I wouldn't have chosen either. It's all the choosing sides that made everything so horrible"
@@andyfern8923 I think they are more princes and deseve more the throne and were better prepered then Alicents son. I belive jace would be a better king than them.

So this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the movie Ex Machina, and about a month ago i was thinking how of the 4 actors in that movie, there was 1 whose career I hadn't followed. So I looked her up on IMDB and was shocked to realize she was the White Worm. If you haven't seen Ex Machina before I highly recommend! Larys out here predating Quentin Tarantino! 😂 The next episode has one of the greatest shots of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. I kept rewatching that scene before I even finished the episode. Can't wait to see your reaction to it!
I do think it's an interesting take that Viserys' neglect toward his other children made less of an impression on them than their mother's insistence that they be raised wary of dying. Viserys' inaction gets a pass from a lot of people because he starts to break down and everyone else is more ambitious. I think Bridget's anger in the first episode was righteous but it's a more stark example of his own follies ruining his family. After all those years, he's still in relatively good health enough to raise his sons. And yet, he lets them stew in the resentment of Alicent and Criston Cole. Something he plainly saw. Letting Rhaenyra get away with her doings. Time and time again letting Daemon back into the fold despite his undermining. This isn't you guys but Viserys getting smol beaned by the end of the series by some people has been stuck in my craw. The right response to not wanting something to happen is to be more proactive in preventing it. Especially if you have absolute power.
Rhaenys massacreing hundreds of commonfolk never sat right with me, especially considering how "nobles doing whatever they wanted at the cost of the common people" was one of the most important themes that the books had.
It's also illogical and dumb as fuck , the dragon pit has multiple exists and entrances she could have left completely undetected and wouldn't harm anyone, plus she's not wearing a helmet bursting from the floor is a good way to get a concussion, also the whole point of the dragon pit is that they can't just leave whenever they want once again the show runners choose spectical over logic for the sake of it without thinking it through.
It's amusing how much people hate the Greens for crowning Aegon over the named heir. Joffrey was Robert's named heir and Ned tried to deny him the throne because he was a bastard... just like Rhaenrya's sons. It has nothing to do with right or wrong. People just don't like the Greens.
The same people would hate the Green no matter what they do, even if it is good. The reason is, these people often have zero accountability for their actions. So they validate themselves with the Blacks, who largely aren’t punished for their bad behavior, and even if they were, they’d quickly jump on the blame game rather than some self-reflection. These people wanna do whatever they please without any repercussions.
Those are two very different situations... Ned did not try to deny the throne to Joffrey just so he could take it for himself (also, the Lannisters were vile) and Rhaenyra is not a bastard, so the fact that her sons are doesn't really matter here. People don't like the greens because of the way they've been acting since ep 1.
@@sundaylibre no they are not entirely different. Ned was going against Robert's dying wish. He could have told him the truth about Joffrey. He chose not to. He also entertained Renly and Littlefinger's schemes. Rhaenrya may not be a bastard but she is a woman. There has never been a ruling queen. As Rhaenrya admitted last episode, naming her divided the realm. More importantly she committed treason when she put bastards in the line of succession. Keep in mind Corlys said the fact that Rhaenys already had a male heir in Laenor was a reason to support her claim. As far as how the Greens have acted, name their crimes. Otto has consistently done what he thought was best for his house and the realm. He is the reason Viserys named Rhaenrya in the first place because he correctly recognized how dangerous Daemon is. And nearly ever Hand has tried to marry into the royal family. Tywin wanted to marry Cersei to Rhaegar. Ned was willing to let Sansa marry Joffrey. Otto is no different.
23:30 important moment Aegon stops for a moment and look between Otto and Alicent but he is below them but slowly he climb up the stairs and become their equal to finally become bigger then them kid they abused for so many years
I think Tyrion said something about "It's hard to put a leash back on a dog after you've put a crown on his head" when talking about Joffrey. I'm looking forward to a certain event next season where Otto finds out the truth of those words.
I think Rhaenys comment to Alicent about seeing herself on the Iron Throne was just to reinforce the other point about Alicent’s life being in service to the men in her life rather than having any true agency of her own. I don’t think she was actually insinuating that was a possibility for Alicent. That is a great scene between those two! And as far as the shocking “feet” scene, if you go back to the earlier episode when Larys and Alicent met in her quarters for a meal, Alicent took off her shoes before sitting at the table. At the time it just seemed like she was getting comfortable after a long and trying day. Now it feels like there might’ve been more going on there. But I honestly think that from Larys’ perspective this is more about the power he has over Alicent, that he can get her to debase herself like that. IMO, the humiliation of it feels like something that would give him more pleasure than anything else.
Everything would be so much easier to understand if ppl could comprehend that what the KING said is what the king said! Regardless how you feel about rhanerya, SHE was named heir and what the king says is LAW! Cry about it and move around… 🤷🏾♀️
But do you not understand that it was about oath and this oath was made 20 years ago and in this time lords that swore oaths to her died or got killed and got replaced by their sons or daughters and they do not swore to Rhaenyra or Viserys because Viserys did not think about remaking oaths to her so not all of them feel like they have to keep it or they do not want to keep it because Viserys breaks tradition by making Woman their Queen and common people also got used to males on iron throne it became trqdition jist like Daemon said in episode 4 common people think that because Aegon is males he should be heor qhile Ehaenyra says somethif like i do not care they will jave no choice but to accept me so not that they said common people that Viserys wanted this and that common people accepted it rhey saw Aegon gor coronared not Rhaenyra for them Aegon is the king because that is what they saw.
Still shocked by how many people are Team Black - to me Daemon is as evil as Larys or Cole (just ask his lady wife in the Vale). Otto is just deviant. But Alicent - I simply don't understand how people don't see her side. She was forced into this marriage, and was EXTREMELY loyal to Viserys and the Realm. She is a Loyalist and a Realist, all she ever did was protect the kids she was forced to have. Even when she did the worst thing she did (attack Rhaenyra), it (protecting her kid) was because one of her kids lost an eye and nothing was being done about it. She doesn't want her son to be King, but she knows the Realm will (I'm not saying the Realm should, saying the Realm does), which means one of Aegon or Rhaenyra has to die ("you are the threat simply by breathing") and as shown in this episode Alicent doesn't want either to die. It's actually kind of hard to watch Bridgeco because of the Black blinders they have on - neither side is good and both sides have good. To me HOTD is so brilliantly constructed to show how both sides are right and wrong, and it blows me away how many people side with the Blacks. Bridgeco isn't alone, I've watched a lot of reactors and most are Team Black - but Bridgeco are so vociferously Black that everything else is ignored. One last thing - blaming the parent for all of the child's indiscretions is completely unfair - in real life or the show. "With Targareyans, the gods flip a coin..."
This franchise is reminded me of AOT community. There are children yapping about different sides and there are mature people observing both side and realize how fucked up both sides are

The balls are just a symbol of the role they play in the council I am pretty sure. Akin to the pin of the Hand of the monarch. It shows that the Master of Coin is at the meeting for example, council members change but the role does not. It is how ever just a display of symbolism given that with the roles and the hand/monarch there are only seven people who sit at that table, you can clearly see who is in attendance and who is not, but... gotta be fancy about it I guess. Speaking of symbolism, Lyman Beesbury who Ser Criston killed at the council meeting was killed by the representation of his position while he really died because of his position and role. He was in the council, only a king can authorise the changing of council members and there is now no king and the council must agree for stuff to move forward. His position on the heir made his position in the council untenable for the Greens and it was the representation of his power, that stupid little ball that ended him.
I'm not team green at all, Team Black all the way, but Alicent's aggression was planted in her by Otto. She is truly convinced that if Rhaenyra takes the throne, her children will be executed
You said the beast beneath the boards, you watched her go downstairs to the dragon pit, you watched the beast come from beneath the boards “That’s Daemon!!” What?!?!😂😂😂😂😂 Love the commitment. Very powerful, an event that remains in the history of Westeros. I'm only sorry about a few things:
Viserys not being given a proper funeral, which is even in the books, but nonetheless distasteful; the absence of Queen Helaena's own crowning by Alicent and Aegon's three circles of the city on Sunfyre; and that Rhaenys' scene, which was liked by many, although in my opinion was senseless. Overall, epic scene.
Episode 9...a beast beneath the boards, imagine that! 😉 Episode 10 will NOT disappoint either...
Y'all have remarkable restraint because I would have went to episode 10 expeditiously😅😅
🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CODY!!!🎉
Rhaenys could have prevented the war in that moment but she didn't because 'its not my fight' girl. It is EVERYONE's fight
“we’re on joint!?” i laughed abit too hard lmao
THIS IS WHERE THE LORE OF THIS KINDA STARTS OUT!!
House Stark HAS ALWAYS SUPPORTED RHAENYRA'S CLAIM
Who the fuck cares what they support, they are random Starks? Only coz they are honorable with oaths mainly and at the end they fought for survival coz Aegon didnt want to forgive them for the dead of their family members and was hunting them down after killing Rhaenyra
She's a murderer
No wonder they were irrelevant in Westeroes for most time.
“Support” is definitely generous…
Rhaenys was the beast beneath the boards. That entrance was written in the same cursive. that Daenerys with the dragon wings after conquering Kings Landing
The cgi was no where as impressive as the CGI on Danearys cene.
Helaena says 'There is a Beast beneath the boards' and you would think, considering a dragon ran through the floor of the Dragonpit, but in fact, if you see that Aegon was hiding beneath the board too, and when Aegon is crowned Helaena deflects the look in fear
Great catch!
A prophesy can have more than one meaning.
@@havok6280and in this case I think there are several! Helaena is such a neat character because everything she says is so important but everyone around her thinks she’s just crazy
"Spark up Otto, House Green." 🤣🤣🤣
lol peepaw Otto getting high in the tower lol😅
@@rexibhazoboa7097 of course he's responsible I'm just saying he's not the only reason things happened or is the only one to blame.
the moment when Alicent stood herself between the dragon and her son because she's a mother who would die for her own children
Rhaenys: "Don't be violent like all those evil men."
Also Rhaenys: *Kills hundreds of civilians for no reason then flies away.
What a boss entrance for Princess Rhaenys
Yes, killing innocent civilians is boss...
When Rhaenese finally got word to Rhaenyra........ LOOK AT DEMION'S FACE ...
Rhaenys
White Worm didn't kidnap Aegon. She told him his dad was dead and hid him at his request because he didn't want to be king. And then she gave his location up for political advantage.
Then Larys tried to burn her 🔥
You should watch "Dark" after finishing HOTD as the next big show. It is really good.
Rhaenys' moment was kind of cool, but I was so hoping they'd keep to the books in the coronation scene, with the crowd calling for Rhaenyra.
“i’m sorry???? we’ve got a foot dude” took me OUT 😂

That joint joke made me laugh a lot.
Well played sir.
poor helaena looks away as aegons being crowned, she doesn’t want it, she knows what’s happening is WRONG.
also if you remember, daemon created the gold cloaks, otto was ordering them to open the doors but they were doing the opposite, this is shown because the gold cloaks favor daemon and want to see daemons ascent, so they were actually hoping that trapping melys in there would stress her out and would therefore burn everyone to a crisp and ending everything right then and there.
99.1k baby! Good on you both!
That rhaenys scene was a brainfart moment from everyone behind the scenes
This whole house green annoy the hell out of me...
@@thaispereira7311 I def hate Alicents kids. I've always thought the throne should have just gone to Daemon. The whole ordeal is a mess lol
@@francescashanae5305 I think Daemon would be a terrible king. But i respect your opinion

The beast beneath the boards
“Spark up Otto”🤣🤣🤣
So this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the movie Ex Machina, and about a month ago i was thinking how of the 4 actors in that movie, there was 1 whose career I hadn't followed. So I looked her up on IMDB and was shocked to realize she was the White Worm. If you haven't seen Ex Machina before I highly recommend!
Larys out here predating Quentin Tarantino! 😂
The next episode has one of the greatest shots of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. I kept rewatching that scene before I even finished the episode. Can't wait to see your reaction to it!
If i remember correctly, Rhaenys' dragon Meleys is the most nimble dragon which is why it was able to squeeze through those doors so easily
That cough bit cracked me up.
The beast beneath the boards. Can't believe you missed whose house was on fire.
Kings don't raise their children. They depend on others to do it.
2:35
Not me JUST finishing listening to "Who the Hell is Edgar" by Teya & Salena (2023 Eurovision) 😂😂😂😂
Rhaenys massacreing hundreds of commonfolk never sat right with me, especially considering how "nobles doing whatever they wanted at the cost of the common people" was one of the most important themes that the books had.
Personally i love seeing her girlboss
I wouldn't consider the slaughter of hundreds of innocents a girlboss moment, but maybe that's just me 🤷♀️@zoelagoblina3138
But doesn't that support exactly that statement?
It's also illogical and dumb as fuck , the dragon pit has multiple exists and entrances she could have left completely undetected and wouldn't harm anyone, plus she's not wearing a helmet bursting from the floor is a good way to get a concussion, also the whole point of the dragon pit is that they can't just leave whenever they want once again the show runners choose spectical over logic for the sake of it without thinking it through.
At least she didn't go mad queen that never was and burn down all of kings landing like Dany..
Exactly and they were cheering when Ned did it, lmao
I think you might be forgetting that joffrey was a monster so for us viewers, there is litteraly no reason to want this psycho to be king
Off topic but that kiss on the hand was so cute, aww ❤
“Source trust me bro” 😭😭😭😭😭
17:45: Aegon was offering to sail away himself and leave the crown to Aemond; Bridget seemed to understand this, but not the guy (Cody?).
@@pajamaparty01 yeah that's what Tom (actor who plays him) said about Aegon on one of meetings with fans
The twins are our new cleganebowl
Rhaenyra killed an innocent guard, Rhaenys killed hundreds in the pit, Daemon killed his first wife...If you cheer for this characters you need help 😂
Oh and what your cheering for the greens? I think ur the one that needs help buddy 💀

There are children yapping about different sides and there are mature people observing both side and realize how fucked up both sides are
Very good points @Weinzierl1973

I think they changed alicent from straight up lying about Vecrerys in the books to. Her misunderstanding him on the show because people would really hate Alicent if the6nstuck to the book.
