That came out fantastic Anna! Just want to tell you that you have been my mentor on DIY. I’ve bought all the tools you have and I follow your videos all the time. I’ve been a farm girl my whole life. I sold the farm and the livestock because I’m getting older and I’ve been in it since I was born. I’ve now took a huge interest in building. When I was looking at how to start, I came across you and I just loved your mind. I won’t lie, I’ve had experience with building stalls and run in sheds, fixing fence posts and rails etc. I’m not a novice with power tools but boy am I loving my tools more than ever! I’m trying to live minimalist lifestyle now so I purchased an old 56 foot mobile home and I’m in the process of turning it into a farmhouse bigger version of a tiny house. I just want to thank you for your knowledge and super cool ideas! Keep them coming. I will definitely upload pictures of the before and after. Thank you Anna, you make a difference!

2x4 makes for less money, but I think for storage I would go 2x6 or 2x8 with 1x for shelving. Already showed Hubby with the idea of making it wider than bed to service as side table.

I’ve been looking high and low for a headboard that I like, and this one takes the cake! This is beautiful! Amazing work! I’ve modified the plans to accommodate a king size mattress, and deeper storage space. We also want five sections of shelving instead of three...still three pull down trays, but two sections of exposed shelves as well. Wish me luck! I will share pics in the comments when I’m finished! :)

I'm a single mom, too. One of the things I love about your videos that it's so real about the balance of family and projects. It isn't easy to find little pockets of time to get projects done; as a mom there's always something to do. I also super appreciate your plans being free. It's really kind of you. One comment about the design: I would worry with a small child the panel coming down quickly if the latch wasn't properly hooked. Perhaps a catch of some sort so that you would have to actually pull down the table in order for it to lay flat. Just a thought : )

Don't take this the wrong way - I love you guys, I admire your clever and unique ideas and style.
While I totally understand why you do things the way you do, I believe a bit more professional care should go into projects that are meant to last for a while. Fill the pocket holes with plugs, sand before installing the back panel, trim where the plywood meets the edges of the frame on both the back and the doors, and finish the entire project, not just what is visible... but I guess everyone can take this as an inspiration and then build theirs their own way...
I am always looking forward to Mondays and your new video. Thank you for sharing and all the inspiration!

Whoa! Love the plan animations at the beginning- such a nice touch. I have Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket... for a pocket hole kreg jig and some new Ryobi cordless power tools! 😜 Ever since finding your channel a little over a year ago, I have been reassessing our furniture throughout the house. My father-in-law is into woodworking, so he helped us make one of your plans for a mudroom bench w/ shoe shelves and boot storage behind. Right now, he’s building us the Grandy hutch to go in our family room. Looking forward to DiY’ing the mini barn door hardware. New year, new projects! Happy new year to you & yours! 🎉

This is awesome!!! The Kreg Jig is amazing, I'd go for the K5 if you can (it has the front clamp that is much more accessible than the K4). And the brad nailer or stapler is a must. I can't wait to see projects from you!

Another great build, Ana! Do you ever sit back, look at your work and marvel? You have such a great talent. Not only in building but coming up with plans and sharing them-all while raising a family of three. You and Jacob are such givers. Thank you for your free plans. I have built a few pieces using your plans. Thanks for all your inspiration-you are the one female who helped me get over my fear of power tools. So much so that I asked for some for my upcoming birthday. Cheers to you and your family and Happy New Year!

Greetings from Ottawa, Canada. This project couldn't have been better timed for me. I'm about to build a Murphy Bed and I've been tweaking the framing design for a few requirements. One of them was a headboard. Another was some sort of tray system for my laptop or coffee, etc. So... This design is being incorporated into it all. Thank you SO much for inspiring the solution! #peace

Like Susan's idea of using wider 2x, but I would have put the pocket holes on the underside of the boards and then filled and stained so they would be less noticeable when stained. If painted it would not matter. I really like the whole idea, but would pad/upholster the the headboard in a neutral print or textured fabric to go with that beautiful stain. Would probably go with a different type of latch too. Great job! Glad she likes it.

Good afternoon, I have a question for you. I am new and would like to start doing little projects here and there. Is it worth it to buy the kreg system and which one should I buy. I already have a miter saw, drill, drill bits. I don't have a table saw or jigsaw yet. Could you please let me know or give me some info on where to start. Thanks.

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hi! Yes the kreg system is awesome! You can do a lot with screws and a drill but it is very difficult to do edge to edge joining without a kreg jig (the door frames as example). There are other methods like biscuits and edge gluing but none are as versatile and beginner friendly as the kreg jig. The K5 is the best bang for your buck and will do everything you see us doing

I see he drilling a screw in but is he using a packet hole from the head board to the stud In The wall? Mrs. Fifty Shades of Gray, week in and week out I watch your videos. I love your creative projects and that gray as well, however, I have never had any luck with staining my projects with that gray like you do. It comes out exactly how I'd like myne to come out. When I'm applying the stain, it looks too thinned out/fluid, water like. It is water based and it's the exact same Varathane wood stain like you have at 5:39. Am I doing something wrong? My husband has even tried to no avail? What do you recommend? We have no issues with other stains, it's just this color of stain that we seem to have the problem with. The only difference is that our can says "stain and protect in one application" and it's "Weathered Grey semi-gloss". Not sure if the semi-gloss or Grey with an "E" makes a difference. I noticed your can is "Gray" with an "A".

I love it, but wouldn't you put the pocket holes to attach the shelves on the underside of the shelf?

You could do either way - I went back and forth, would you see the holes more from underneath when you are in bed or more from up top when the table is open? Ultimately we went this route but the other way might have been better.

I would also put pocket holes on the underside plus used pocket hole plugs to make it nice on both sides

I was wondering about that too. It seems like crud (dust and whatnot) would build up in them on the top if they're not plugged. Interesting build though.

This is super cool I'm going to build one just like it, what are those hinge supports called that keep the opening tray level? And who carries those supports?
