I work in a retail furniture store and we simply use a swiffer in the morning to dust the velvet items in the direction we want the nap to go!

That headboard is beautiful! I definitely agree you should stain the cubbies to create a more cohesive look! I'm not sure a beige background is going to look right with that headboard. Make sure that whichever colour you choose, the headboard is complementary. You put in so much effort and it turned out amazing. Can't wait to see the whole room styled with the bed up on a frame and the walls painted, light installed, etc!

I vote for pendant lighting on both sides of the bed. It adds height to a room and leaves space on your bed side tables for candles, current reads etc.

The head board is amazing. So talented. As for wall color I am leaning towards the darker of the 2 lighter ones. It is very pretty. But it is hard to truly judge the color thru a camera lens. Your taste is so exquisite that no matter which color you pick it will be the right one❤

The middle colour swatch of the paint is slightly warmer than the one on the left - that is very cool toned. I think the middle would look warmer, especially with soft lighting x

Love the headboard! I'd probably add a plug with a USB port to charge phones or to use for a light. You can make the bookshelf wider and use the space behind the headboard to store suitcases if you need more storage.

The husband inherited a lot of vintage Italian furniture (‘50s replicas of ‘20s furniture), and I had the couch and chairs reupholstered in golden yellow velvet (I promise it isn’t as wild looking as it sounds 😅). It has been surprisingly forgiving! It became base camp during lockdown and never got a break until this summer (when we moved and put it in storage). It got periodic vacuums with a brush head and I found that immediately cleaning it with a damp cloth got out anything spilled/splattered. A magic eraser is also handy for anything more stubborn (I use the ones from Daiso). This was the every day couch too, not just for a sitting room nobody was allowed in 😄.

Omg, my husband is the same way about surprises. He cannot surprise me for nothing! 😂 He’s either so nervous about me _liking_ or _not_ liking the surprise that he tells me pretty much right away-just to see if he did a “good enough” job lol. *_OR_* he _knows_ I’m going to *love it,* so he’s just too excited and just can’t wait! Which, was quite literally, how our proposal turned out. As soon as he picked up my engagement ring, he put it in his pocket, drove straight home, walked in the front door, came right into the bedroom where I was standing doing my makeup…he got down on one knee, pulled the ring out (no box), hands shaking, and with the biggest smile on his face, asked, “Will you marry me?!” 🥰 No, he didn’t go all out and _plan_ a big proposal, but he was *definitely* _still_ able to _at least_ surprise me. -That day- ☺️😆

Happy Anniversary! The headboard is beautiful. The color of the velvet is one of my favorite colors. I'm so excited to see the completed room. Also, I like best the paint swatch in the middle. On camera I noticed green undertones in that middle swatch and I think that will look best with the green-gold of the velvet.
For the headboard you could consider spraying it with some type of dirt repellent so as to make it last as much as possible!
