Holy cow, that was so complex compared to your other beds. It turned out AMAZING! I love that you tackled 3 completely different bed designs, too. You really go full send on each one, doing completely different designs and ideas. You don't just stick to what you know. Truly inspirational for up and coming wood workers ❤️
I was once a young boy with a mom who was an ace with a table saw. Her shop wasn’t nearly as well fitted out as yours. But her mentorship with my interest in woodworking was so important for me. She taught me plenty about wood and tool use, and also taught me to not be an obnoxious male know-it-all when brilliant women can show me how much I have to learn. I wish you were my next door neighbor. I’d be looking over your shoulder all the time. You’d probably get tired of that. Great teaching.
That’s awesome. My kids only like to help once all the pieces are prepared… maybe one day they’ll want to get involved in all the hard work that leads up to that point. Ha

Finishing fun idea…..take your finished grey ash and pull a card scraper across the top basically exposing the high points of the grain. Color in the new exposed white wood with a orange/red-ish stain. Enjoy! Thanks for the video!
What a project. Nicely done & Whew! Always enjoy real world captures of fixing whoops a daisies on the fly. Glad to see youtube is finally recommending me your videos again after your break, time to catch up on the two I missed! One thing I took away from this build was how good the side tables looked next to the bed with the oversized headboard, they fit so well there like they were part of the bed without actually being attached. I've only ever thought of making headboards as wide as the bed so that detail is really expanding my thinking.
Another masterpiece Tamar, you never disappoint. Haven't caught you for a while as I have been busy, but so glad that I watched this - you have given me so much to think about for when my total house renovation is finished. 👍

Wow Tamar ...your level is so high (project and execution)...mistakes are part of life...I loved this project... It is amazing Congratulations from Brazil

Great new video. You have inspired me with a design for my sons bed. I think a floating bed with a Nintendo switch head board would be a great combination
Those who have never made a mistake, never made anything. When I did my apprenticeship, one of my tutors taught me ‘it’s not a mistake, until you can’t fix it’. We always try to do things right, but sometimes we need to employ a work around to make it right. Adding domino’s was the extra step, possibly not needed, but got yo to where you were happy with the build quality.
Sure is great to see good carpenters out there. I don't comment nearly as much as I should, so I'm going to try to do a better job. Keep up the great work! Always a pleasure!
I love the floating design and the overall look of the bed, with massive headboard and walnut shelves. Combined with the dark stain, and the overall finish, it looks like an expensive designer piece. Showing and explaining the whole process, including the mistakes, is great and helps a lot in staying motivated. It can be quite difficult to learn to think in 3D, turning und flipping forms in your head. My skills in that area slowly improove, but seeing even big TH-camrs making mistakes is kind of comforting. Have you ever had issues with screwing down the slats when the wood expands and contracts or there's movement on the bed?
We have also seen really good prices on Ash and Poplar down here in Florida so that's all I have been using lately. I love the way ash handles machining, stain, paint, its been a pleasure all around. Hopefully it will become a new mainstay in my future projects
Wow Tamar I guess it's been a while since I've seen your videos. Your work shop is like wow. I remember seeing you telling us where stuff was going to go. So many new shop tools now maybe that's part of why it only took less than two weeks to build. Great job once again.
That's great Tamar. So many steps! Simpatico for your mistake, but great solution found. I normally have to go for a walk when I do stuff like that. Well done!
You are an artist and woodworker. Incredible build. Great recovery. As long as the joy of the solution out weights the agony of the error allis great. 😊😊😊😊😊
The color is awesome. I've always struggled to find the right stains when going for a very dark tone without it ending up looking just black. Great job!
That’s gorgeous great job. Are you going to build dressers for each room to match the bed designs? I love watching your builds thanks for taking the time to share
Thanks! I plan on building all the furniture that goes in their rooms. Maybe not dressers though, since their closets are big enough, but desks and bookshelves and stuff like that.
Awesome project. I keep being amazed by your problem solving skills. They say the ability to fix one's mistakes is one of the most important skills in woodworking. You certainly nailed it. ❤ Or maybe screwed it? Anyway, thanks for showing us this build. Great entertainment as well as being a superb learning experience. Thanks Tamar. Oh by the way, I'm just starting your adjustable dado jig build. I've watched that video about 83 times. I could build it in my sleep now.
I'll try to remember not to feel like such a dolt when I make a mistake now that I've seen my favorite DIY woodworker do the same. Wow. Another home run with this design and over the top deployment! Thanks so very much for sharing!
Very nice build Tamar. Watching the final build was really nice the way all the joinery came together. I'm sure it was really satisfying for you since you did all the work!
Tamar, you always create such wonderful projects, and, like the rest of us, you make mistakes and have to fix them. Great job! Great ASMR! I employ a simple trick to hide the end grain that is inevitable on butt joints such as your bed rails: Cut the ends of the overlapping piece at 45 degrees, and then cut off a small piece that is also 45 degrees and only as long as the board is thick that will serve as a return. That way, it appears that the grain runs continuously as long grain all the way around the butt joined pieces. Takes two minutes and ups your game to the next level. Keep 'em coming, Tamar!
@3x3CustomTamar A visible break, of course, as it is still a butt joint. However, at least this way, the grain runs continuously all the way around the perimeter. You never encounter end grain visually. For the best grain matching results, cut your "miter wrap" pieces from the ends of the adjoining pieces and not from the ends of the perpendicular piece that gets 45-deg cuts on both ends. This way, it will more closely resemble a picture frame joint without the problems associated with delicate "knife-edge" joints on big heavy boards. Try it next time. Takes 5 minutes to employ, and the inside cut 45 at each end has no effect on your target dimensional length.
Looks great! Love the finish. I will have to try this sometime. One thing you might want to try in the future is painting ash and applying a glaze over the paint. It looks good because the glaze goes into the grain accenting the pores of the ash. I worked at a cabinet company that did this on white paint and it was beautiful.

We have also seen really good prices on Ash and Poplar down here in Florida so that's all I have been using lately. I love the way ash handles machining, stain, paint, its been a pleasure all around. Hopefully it will become a new mainstay in my future projects
Well hopefully it will be around long enough! The bugs are getting to them around here…
The look is amazing! I love the wood structure combined with the black and brown colors. Perfect!
Thanks so much!
Well done!
Beautiful project
That “double frame” definitely calls for mood led lighting!!
Ha! I knew ppl would think so. Not my thing, but it would be cool
You are an artist and woodworker. Incredible build. Great recovery. As long as the joy of the solution out weights the agony of the error allis great. 😊😊😊😊😊
I really like this design for a bed and that color is amazing. I love dark colors and it will work for what I want to do. Thanks !
Love the bit at the end with your kid! Very cute
☺️☺️
Tamar it looks amazing. And yes the walnut goes very well with the dark wood. Ikea you have some competition.
@@3x3CustomTamar that’s sound awesome can’t wait to see what you have in mind
So nice, beautiful and strong project. So great to see your video and the way you make your projects
So glad you enjoy!
I watched all the bed making videos, as I'm building my own right now. This is the best one. Thanks for the inspiration.❤
So glad you liked it!
Great looking bed. Love to see the good move and the fails. Looking forward on the next project!
Fantastic job on this one!!! Yes, you have come a long way since your beginnings. Love seeing you learn and grow and help us as you do. Thank you
Awesome project.
Supergood one, thanks. Shop looks great, can see your work flow joy, much efficiency!
Wow, just beautiful Tamar.
What a build , you convince me to get a Domino love it .

Very nice build Tamar. Watching the final build was really nice the way all the joinery came together. I'm sure it was really satisfying for you since you did all the work!
The color is stellar, but black is my favorite so what do I know. Nice build! I like ash as well.
Thanks so much! I love black furniture as well, but really wanted that wood grain to show through on this one
Beautiful and elaborate work. Have you thought about dividing the long video into several episodes?
Wow, that is one lucky kid, he has a bed to be proud of. Totally awesome.
☺️☺️
Great project, and yeah, that finish on the ash is awesome! It's also great fun seeing you in your spacious new shop.
It was fun trying to figure out this finish!
Interesting... I think I am imagining this correctly... Then there would still be a break between the 2 pieces, like a false miter?
@3x3CustomTamar
A visible break, of course, as it is still a butt joint.
@@mountainlightwoodcraft definitely interesting. I’ll have to try it
Another great build the bed turned out amazing your son is very lucky. Keep up the amazing work can’t wait to see what you do next
Thanks! Sounds cool. I’ve done cerused oak before with wax. Sounds like a similar concept
Great mom great carpenter great content creator. Keep up the good work 🎉
