- This video shows you how to change out an alternator on Chevy trucks such as the Avalanche, Tahoe & Suburban and possibly same process for other Chevy vehicles. Alternators are an important part of the functioning of your vehicle. If they go out, they can leave you stranded and be a costly repair.

followed this guide and my suburban was fixed in 22 minutes and 38 seconds. I've really got to give it to you G, this video was perfect in execution and explanation, very simple. saw another comment mentioning dislikes from a while ago... whoever disliked the video cannot follow basic instructions, surprised that so many of them walk among us, keep on keeping and god bless!

Maaaan this helped me so much....I knocked this out in no time with my sons. Thank you for saying what size tools you used. I was able to call them at home and tell them everything to take out so when I got home all we had to do was get to work. The only thing I did differently was that I did move the air intake out the way some so I could turn the tension easier. Based off the comments here, I saw that took the longest.

Used these instructions on '03 Avalanche. I'm not a mechanic AT ALL and was able to follow your steps & get it done. I did struggle most with the tensioner. I couldn't get the vice grips to stay on and didn't want to strip the bolt, so used a 15mm socket instead. I needed a second person for that step (and putting belt back on) as I didn't have enough oomph to loosen the tensioner and get the belt off as one person. Thanks for putting this video out!!

Getting this belt back on is damn near impossible
