I was stranded at my deer lease this weekend with a dead battery in my 2004 Avalanche. I wasn't sure if I had a bad battery or bad altenator. None of us are mechanics. My nephew found this video on his iphone. Saved us lots of time and money. Replaced the alternator as instructed. Thanks for posting.

Not sure if you’re still making videos, but thanks for this. This really helped. I couldn’t figure out how to release the tension. Thanks

i would like to add my kudos for your fine video depiction of how to remove the alternator. one thing to add putting in the new alternator in the base there turned out to be quite complex as i could not get the holes to align. Since the part fits in there quite snugly. I finally aligned one and put in the bolt & thaf made things fall into placd (20 min. latter) . The tensioner thing was masively usefull as I would have never guessed this. you saved me a massive amount if $$$$ and really gave the old machismo a boost. Many thanks .

Thanks a million for posting your video !! Especially about the belt tensioner !! I had seen one other vid and they didn't even show how to take anything off !! I had the alternator off in a flash !!

Thanks for the video, ran into the same problem. I figured it was the alternator, good reassurance now.

I purchased a premium alternator, and I live in Canada. Born in Vermont. Thank you for watching.

Did that battery not charging go away? I'm on the side of the road right now with the exact same problem.

@sms373 To a GM service manual, yeah its a 325. In really picky terms its actually a 325.1 lol, and thats no word of a lie. The older trucks had a real 327, and it was considered a 5.3, In my opinion its the same thing just more power then the old 327's with the conventional 4 barrel Rochester carburetors. In my mind its just 2 cubic inches off, but I still consider it a 327. Same like the Olds and Pontiac engines. 302 Pontiac, pfft looks and performs like a 305 to me and is still a 5.0 liter.

Mike his truck is Canadian. His dash is in kilometers per hour. Not miles per hour

found out it is slightly bigger and compensates for the smaller pulley no slipping or anything like that stays at a constant 14.4

Chevy specs on their websites for avalanche 2002+ are 145amps. And a new bosche is only $148 not including the $41 core return

110 Amp, $350? Why? One year warranty?

Why didn't you have a test done on the alternator to make sure it was bad before buying a new one? Any parts store should have tested it for free for you.

you must live in canada, based on your accent and how much you paid for the imported alternator...lmao! I priced one for $100 here in the states. First look.
