Important tip!!: Use the 15mm ratchet on the tensioner bolt to move the tensioner left--decreasing tension, to allow the serpentine belt to be fit around the flat surface pulley next to the alternator. Makes reinstall of belt much easier!

These directions are so clear and accurate! - I changed out the alternator in my 01 suburban in 15 minutes. I can't believe it was so easy and saved at least $150.
Thanks for the video! Although I didn't buy the alternator from them, I now bookmarked their site because it helped me big time especially when I was in a rush to get it done.
I have a 2001 Tahoe and this helped tremendously! Took me less than an hour.
To make the process of installing the new alternator easier... there are two sleeve inserts the two bolts go through, in the alternator mounting bracket. These sleeves move and can be easily moved a mm or two by a couple taps with a hammer, going from the engine side towards the bumper side. That pushes/slides each sleeve back a little and creates clearance for the new alternator to easily drop in.Tightening down the bolts again pushes these two sleeves back to a snug fit against the alternator body. The sleeves are only visible briefly in the video about the 3:05 mark and shortly after.

I watched your video 3 weeks ago for my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. I finally went ahead and bought the alternator. After loosing my first bolt, I had the confidence to complete the job. I t was easier than expected. It saved me a lot of money in labor cost. My truck is up and running and the family loves it. Thank you.

Thank you! Replace the alternator on my GMC Sierra quickly and without any cursing. My truck has the 8.1 liter engine and I had to loosen the fan shroud to be able to get one of the alternator bolts out.

Thank yo so much for the videos you post. I am no kind of wrench master, in fact you could say i am mechanically handicap. With that being said, i was able to replace the alternator on my 2003 suburban with out a hitch after watching this video. It is the exact same as the 00-02 for this job. I also found your video on exterior door handle replacement very helpful. It is a smidge different on an 03 but it is very similar and both helped save me some cash. Thanks!!!

when replacing an alternator,do you have to reprogram anything thru it's computer? we replaced a bad one while on the road,and the new one gave us the same problem as the old one, the gauge on the dashboard would read at 14 then start losing power eventually going down to 0? would appreciate some feedback

My 2006 Chevy Suburban 1500 LT alternator choices range from 105 amp / 145 amp and 160 amp. How do you determine which alternator is the correct one?

When you disconnected the throttle body, it would have been nice for you to at least mention the short fuel return which sits underneath it.
