    The plastics on my DR are looking very shoddy after 40,000 ks in the Southern African backcountry - so taking in this with much appreciation for your thorough instructional , superbly conversational approach.

      Hi Ruffian, thank you for the thoughtful words. Try this cleaning approach that my French Canadian friend Paul Mondor (the Ice Man) gave me first before you paint. My plastics and tank were looking roughed up, too, until I did this. Now, they look like new.

      Spray 9 (like Simple Green) to clean engine
      (Let Spray 9 sit for 5 min and hose off then dry the bike)
      Then spray armor all tire foam everywhere (except on tire tread) and let sit overnight
      Then next day buff out tank, but everything else there will be no residue
      WD40 to clean chain and lube
      Pledge for cleaning paint, vinyl
      When storing bike, clean it well and then cover everything with WD40 (when starting again, it will smoke for a bit and that’s it)”

      Hey Jason, thank you so much for the nod, Angel. Stay tuned for the Magura hydraulic clutch and Cyclops 7” rally light installs.

      That really means a lot that these build vids can hold your interest without a bike, angel. Kisses to you.

      I was tempted to get the smaller, sleaker and better looking DRZ SM front fender. And did.

      Thanks, Jason! I’m waiting on a throttle tube and shorty levers to finish up my bar conversion. And then can add my new diode kit to finish up my LED Yoshimura flashers that were now all flashing at the same time. Stay tuned, Angel.

      Tacos, you sweetheart. I appreciate the support. This is definitely a fun journey for me, and a dream I've had since 2011. Fun to see it finally coming to fruition.

    I have seen krylon used in 2 or 3 coats work well also. 👍 Maybe was eveRide on his KLR 650 like 8 years ago 😂

      I love hearing about the success of others who paint their own plastics. I have even considered painting my wheels.

    Did you sand your dried primer with 1000 before the first layer of black? And then also sand the first layer of black? Any sanding between subsequent black layers?

    • @NicoleEspinosa
      @NicoleEspinosa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking, Angel. Everything I did, I put in the video. I just used 1000 once, and didn’t sand between each layer of black.

    i see you used two different cans of primers are they the same?

    • @NicoleEspinosa
      @NicoleEspinosa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Angel, I had ordered the first batch of paint online. And when I ran out, I just went to my local Home Depot and grabbed a similar primer. Both did a great job.
