You made a very valid comment, colleague, but since the diameter is large, it is a little difficult to achieve the surface quality. I had to stand on the bench to remove the surface quality and the burrs of the channels, but the piece is securely attached. God forbid anyone should be separated from their family.
Of course, I would like to shoot the whole process, but I work as a lathe operator and I shoot my own handiwork and share it with you. Unfortunately, I don't have the chance to shoot the whole process.
Wow, very impressive, skilled and professional done. Two questions, what was the approximate weight of the piece and how long time did it take from start to finish to do the work. .PS Always use safety glasses when working. I did the mistake of not using safety glasses, that was a painful experience…
Thank you brother, there was a lot of rust inside and outside of the forged steel material. It was around 5 tons. It took 3 days for the pre-welding process and I processed the flange in 1 day. The welding process took 1 day and the delicate process of opening the channels took 2 days.
Thank you brother, I am not talking about the weight of the material, I am talking about the power that this cylinder will produce. We plan to produce 1000 tons of power. 1000 tons of HYDRAULIC press cylinder.
I wonder how much the costumer could have saved by specking the OD to be as-forged everywhere it isn't a contact fit with something? I've seen a number of videos of people spending a lot of machine time (e.g. 5-axis contour milling with a 5mm ball mill) getting very great results on what is, in the end, cosmetic finish work because that's what the costumer ordered.
I cannot make a thread gap, I screw it all the way and tighten it, we check it again in the welding workshop, we suspend it from the flange and center it.
looking at that chetta pipe reminds me of when i was a apprentice and my chuck wrench broke and i feel back into the work bench and busted my tail bone, ya had to sit on a inflatable ring for 3 months , dont be the next victim
Get well soon, brother. I hope you will never encounter anything like this again. We are doing our best to avoid such a thing. We are trying to be careful.
Safety glasses bro, literally no reason not to wear them. Does someone come around cleaning up the swarf all the time, the open back style of the lathe always created a mess you can't see with components this size.
Yes, you are right in general, but the order here works like this for now. When there are jobs with a lot of sawdust, the children take the sawdust so that they do not have difficulty.
it is a forged piece of steel more or less in a round shape... ( you can see the segments left by the forging) if you want to destroy your dial indicator.... 8-)

@@geoffreykail9129 Since the barrel is forged steel, the pre-treatment took a long time. I bought 60 mm in it. The process lasted 3 days ago. I machined the flange for 1 day. Welded for 1 day. Cooled for 1 day. I opened the channels in 2 days and processed the harvest.

Smoking in the workshop!!!
Why not? There is nothing wrong with that.
I personally do not smoke, but there are many workers who do and it is difficult to prevent this, I do not think it affects our work.
Interest steady rest. I looking for build one. Can you give me a close look .

yes custom made forged steel
