    I serve as an itinerant worship leader, currently leading worship for 3 homeless ministries & 2 small fellowships. Just recently bought this pedal, and thank you, thank you, thank you for breaking this pedal down some. Have taken screenshots of your settings. Almost ALL of the demos I've seen are done with an electric guitar, but I use acoustic/electric guitars, but the overall effect of the pedal is still there! But bless you for sharing your knowledge on this pedal with us! 👍🏻👍🏻🤟🏼🤟🏼

    You are what I have been looking for regarding the Cloudburst for a worship environment. I often play alone with my acoustic or electric. I've been using shimmers, dynamic hall, dynamic plate for pad type fills. But nothing sounds like this.

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The hold function is an absolute game changer especially for playing alone. It works with any tap tempo switch.
      If you get Strymon’s switch be aware that it comes set in “favorite” mode and to me the “tap” function is much more intuitive. I highly recommend changing their switch from the default to “tap”

      @@michaelbartholemew4327 correct! And you can change the strymon mini switch where its push to hold. Push to disengage. Cool to have the option.

    • @JonnyHale

      With the ensemble off its perfect for a full band.
      It gets too thick with the overtones with a full band playing. It fights the keys range.

    Great overview, Ty! 2:15 How are you holding? Is it another foot pedal?

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! You can plug any tap tempo pedal into the cloudburst and use it as a hold.
      Depending on the wiring, you can toggle hold off and on with a single click, or you can set it to hold as long as you hold.

    Thank you so much for this -exactly what I need.
    Question if you have insight, I have a collider that I could stack delays and use cloudburst for most reverb.
    Assuming still best to push delay(s) into the cloudburst?
    God bless!!

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve run it before and after in my line. Definitely works best for me with the delays into the reverb even with the ensemble on. I run the cloudburst at the very end of my chain. It gets very busy if you run delays after it. It can be a cool unique effect but it’s not as practical or useful.

  • @BrianVallotton
    @BrianVallotton ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I received mine last week. Quick question: Can I used a way pedal as an expression pedal with it?

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can assign an expression pedal to any of the controls. I have done that with a TRS keyboard-style expression pedal, and it works wonderfully. I would recommend assigning it to the "decay". When it's all the way down it gives you the infinite sound like I demonstrated with a tap tempo in the video.

    Don't you think that the sound is too sweet? Not sure which way to go... cloudburst or uafx golden reverberator....

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Today, I played it with a silver sky through my pedal board into a full-range sound system. It was bright and shiny. I was surprised how much it changed with a strat-style pickup. But the tone knob has a massive range; you can pull every bit of brightness out and only have the warm tones even on full range with single coils.
      Let me know what you go with! I’d love to see how you like the Cloudburst or how the Golden is for you.

    • @LeeHoMusic

      @@JonnyHale would it be useful in live situation?

    • @scottking2467
      @scottking2467 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use the golden on my worship board, the large hall is incredible in that pedal. This would be used differently I think. I’ll be putting this on my board really soon to use as a pad/swell/playing during vamps etc…. Sometimes I’ll probably use the regular reverb during a song as a 3rd preset since the golden only has 2. IMO the golden would be better for use during songs, and the cloudburst for any vamps, praying, pads, etc…

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@scottking2467 @thegeronimo322 I completely agree. I have the hall of fame and was planning on replacing it with the cloudburst but ended up keeping both because I want the ensemble from the cloudburst but still need an "all the time" verb.

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LeeHoMusic extremely useful live but it's not an all the time reverb. You still probably need a traditional reverb for your regular playing. The ensemble gets extremely thick when playing with keys especially. You could always reach down and turn the ensemble sound off and on manually and get by with one reverb but it would be a hassle.

    Can the infinite sustain be used just by holding the silver button or is there an additional switch that needs to be added?

    Is cloud burst enough? Or you need more reverb like a stryman Volante ?

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost always use a separate reverb to create the "space/room." The Cloudburst can handle literally everything else. You could use just the Cloudburst, but over time, you'd miss that spring amp verb sound or the sound of a natural room. The Cloudburst is thick no matter what, so it is a lot for an "always on" reverb.

    Johnny can you tell me if there is a specific expression pedal for that item or will any expression pedal work?

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I have not tried it with an expression pedal, although I hear that is an option. I use the Strymon tap (Link: amzn.to/46jjftZ). I have used my other tap tempo switch, and it also worked fine. The Strymon tap has two functions controlled by a dip switch. One makes it where as long as you hold the button down, it sustains and releases when you release. The second makes it so you tap to turn the sustain on and again to turn it back off. I prefer holding the pedal like a piano's sustain pedal.

    • @tonyz4292

      I dont know man I guess it’s cool for business and all but to be honest as a player it leads me towards almost an addictive like quality to always want more and after all the good book talks about not being taken by worldly possessions- seems like an oxymoron that the worship community is so heavy in it…. Personally getting we gear has prolly taken me further away from finding inspiration, it’s short term pleasure especially now in days with amazing tools coming out monthly- it’s like gear porn every time I log into anything, creates desire in my soul like I need something new, don’t like how it feels

    • @JonnyHale
      @JonnyHale  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tonyz4292 I understand that. It is a line most fail to walk. It’s easier to buy gear than it is to be creative. I think many musicians buy the equipment to try and scratch the creative itch. It’s a poor substitute, though.
      We serve a creative God, and He made us in His image. We were made to multiply and be fruitful. As long as gear is a tool to be fruitful and not a substitute for creativity, it stays in balance.
      When I create a gift, I give to God that also ministers to His body, and I buy tools to help facilitate that creation and make it more excellent it always feels right.
      When I buy a piece of gear to feel creative, but deep down, I know I’m moving, but I’m not progressing, that’s when it feels terrible.
