Yeah, this is what made me choose Quest 3, is like Apple Vision + VR Gaming into one device with an affordable price. I don't know how people can choose another headset.

@@lulutango Yeah, Apple Vision is better in some aspects like the hand tracking, but isn't great for gaming, PSVR2 can't do much besides gaming and it's not a portable device, you need to connect to your PC or PS5 by cable, and it uses Fresnel lenses. Quest 3 is like a mix of both with Pancake lenses and it's own exclusive games.
The best use case for watching movies in VR is 3D movies, which look incredible. I know Big Screen has a small collection, but why Meta doesn't have some 3D video streaming service I do not know, it would be a killer feature.

I just got mine about a week ago. Watching Altered Carbon (or anything else) on a giant screen alone is worth the purchase price (especially when it's on sale now). The games are a bonus to me (got Batman included). I have briefly tried PCVR with MSFS 2020 and was blown away by the realism. I'm 59 and have been a gamer since "Pong". Not stopping anytime soon.
@@sicario1872 It is excellent quality. I ordered Zenni lenses which should be here this week, so the little fuzziness I have (mostly text at a distance) should be gone. You will not be disappointed.
@@sicario1872 I ordered the Zenni prescription lens inserts (I wear progressive lens glasses, but you need to use your "distance" prescription for the Zenni's). The picture is now perfect, I can't imagine it getting any better. If you wear glasses for distance, this is the perfect solution, and they are fairly inexpensive ($70 CA) plus shipping.
If only we had a 3D movie service on quest. Big Screen has tried to get more 3D movies on to their app but studios aren't interested in it. Funny how they'll put their films on a $3000+ headset that no one is buying.
@@sonicsnake44 what is also frustrating for me is I own the latest apple tv 4k box, if I search on 3d a lot of the movies I have bought are available in 3d but I cannot play them in 3d. I know no tv's these days do 3d but I have a projector than can play them, would love to enjoy big screen 3d on that!
I’ve converted my 3D Blu Rays that I watch through Skybox on my headset, and it’s incredible (takes a bit of messing about to get to that stage though!)
I still wish the main streaming apps would support 3D movies. It's especially weird that youtube doesn't, given how it already supports 3D videos, including 3D trailers of the movies they rent in 2D only.
The "ultimate" home theater still lacks true 5.1 audio. I want Meta to bring on a portable wireless audio system that has 4 or 5 satellites - ideally make the 5th optional since it's kinda silly in a roomscale environment for playing, but useful for enjoying movie content - and a subwoofer that probably needs wall power and therefor should be optional as well. To top it off, put cameras into the 4 main satellites for FBT and pease don't forget an option to only use those while having the audio on the headset still, just in case you might need that for silence reasons.
@@davidzizza Bluetooth isn't a good solution yet though as the lag is too much on basically any Android based device. They kinda need to have it for an upcoming headset with a built-in 2.4GHz transceiver just for that purpose like the ones that typically come with wireless headsets for PC.

Not gonna happen. VR headsets are personal devices designed to immerse the wearer of the headset. Possibly headphones with Surround like sound but definately not external speakers.
I got a quest 3 and bigscreen. Ive installed the remote desktop to my pc so i can watch movies eith a friend, but i get terrible sound . Yet i watch other people's feeds in bigscreen that works great. Any ideas how to fix this?
I have the 2 and the 3, the lcd lenses on the 3 make all the difference. 4K looks amazing, with the parallax lenses on the 2 and 3s I feel like you lose a little quality.

Its crazy what these new AR Features are Capable of. I cant believe i live in this timeline, sadly dont have a quest 3, ill get one once the Quest 4 comes out.
In the early 2030s VR will be very near to reality for certain features. Watching live events will be amazing in it as will certainly types of games. Using it as a space telescope with satellite data will be amazing on it.

I watch a lot of movies on this app. The spacial tv app is just amazing. 1 done side. I can not watch with my gf. So sadly you have to enjoy the experience alone. My fav position it putting the screen in a corner

I'm still on my Quest 2 with the BigScreen app, I just can't justify Quest 3 yet. Big Screen is awesome and with a good pair of headphones it's a great sound experience as well. I love these apps that let you watch movies in VR.
Looks great. I never really enjoyed movies in VR until i got a Quest 3. Passthrough made it way more comfortable, especially for 3D movies. It probably makes the image look sharper too thanks to the grainyness of the passthrough haha

Wish they would bring back a fixed Netflix app for the Quest, then we could get the environment lighting. But what I really want is back lighting that reacts to the screen, not just front changes. Sadly your are not watching 4K with the Quest 3, because it isn't true 4K. 4K content viewed on a 4K TV is much clearer.
Most of these apps when enlarging the screen it begins to zoom in and it sucks. There an app that can back up the screen and make it huge no cinema mode.
I wish the youtube app would allow me to watch my 4k digital copies in 4k. It always is locked to 480p which just looks terrible. I need to experiment with movie watching in VR more though
And yet I still can't officially watch the likes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in proper stereoscopic 3D on my Quest 3. Now that's just a total ball drop on Meta's part. How long do Quest 3 users have to wait for something so frikin' dang obvious to happen.

The ideal situation is just to be able to turn on the headset, go to some movie app, find and rent/purchase the movie, then stream to or download directly onto the headset, and watch it directly on the headset. It's bonkers this isn't a standard feature of Quest 3 yet. Meta has totally flubbed on a potentially great service there.
Watching movies on the quest for more than an hour dry my eyes out and the weight of it is not comfortable. The XREAL glasses are much nicer for doing that and are more convenient for taking on an airplane. But I will agree that the environmental lighting is cool.
I'm patiently waiting for a 4k oled vr display to hit the market. Mostly to watch 3D movies i refuse to get the Apple vision pro mainly because there is not much freedom on Apple products
Bigscreen is an app that runs in your VR headset. All your friends will have to have VR headsets to log into the room you are hosting the movie in. I bought my Dad a Quest 3 and we get together once a week and watch a movie and catch up, works great.
Was hoping to see 4XVR here. Have you made a video about that? I didn't know how good a movie could look on Meta Quest 3's 4K+ Infinite Display until I watched my first 4K 3D MVC/AVC .iso format movie in 4XVR. I can't wait til the big Quest content creators get hip to this.

So glad she dislikes 'chick flicks', romance movies, and hallmark bologna. I married a good one, not that those other types of movies are terrible, it's just great to be able to watch together. :P
I got rid of Netflix years ago. They separated their services. Recently they got rid of their BD and DVD Rental. They don't have Sub channnnels like MAX or Disney plus. And Spotify is another one I hate. The guy that started it, stole all the music that's on that platform. That wasn't fare to all our musicians that work so hard too share their talent with the public.

Unfortunately you need to use virtual desktop on a PC with the ability to pass through audio to a decoding device. It’s a bit cumbersome but it works.

I create 3D VR videos and I don't understand why meta is not putting more effort to give people real VR180 3D instead of flat content.

Big screen feels like a real screen in a theatre, not only that but there is no better way to watch a 3d movie than in vr.
Bigscreen and skybox both have environments that make really feel like you are sitting in a movie theater watching a movie. It's very convincing

Sounds like you need to change the resolution in the TH-cam app settings. I'm watching in much higher resolution which looks awesome.

Yes, I either run it in the quest browser or connect to my PC and then I can watch it in big screen or my PC browser.

One for me the other for wife and family.
I prefer watching movies alone when I can

With big screen you don't need to be together which in my case more than makes up for the in person inconvenience of needing multiple headsets.
