I agree that higher resolution VR headsets like Quest 3, and especially Bigscreen Beyond are excellent for movies. There are 2 issues that need to be resolved. 1. The sound. Unless you can easily wear your high end ANC headphones with your VR headset, you will not be able to get fully immersed. 2. Availability of content. I counted the number of 3D movies available for rental on Bigscreen, and the number I got was 17. So, unless I was missing some menu that shows more titles, there is hardly any content. Yes, I am able to rip my own movies, put it on a media server, etc. My issue with this is that I am a working engineer. I do not want to do engineering when I am not working. Well, hopefully we will get more titles in the future, otherwise, movies in VR, not matter how great, is just a curiosity.

“4K content looks amazing”. Well, when watching that 4K content on a virtual screen the size of what’s shown in this video, it’s actually being rendered in like 480p resolution. To get anywhere close to true 4K in the Quest 3, the content would have to be played back over the entire field of view, making it unwatchable. One day VR headsets might be the ultimate cinema experience but we’re not there by a long shot.
Meta has to add more streaming apps to their platform (and more updated ones, looking at you Netflix). They should also try to incorporate those into a universal virtual environment that you can heavily customize. That'll cut off with the hassle of the cumbersome downloading stuff, and it'll increase how immersive the whole experience is.
Please post a new video once Netflix or other major video platforms is updated like TH-cam. I don’t follow it everyday, however I find it interesting might upgrade to Quest 3 once software catch up.

With VD or BigScreen can I control my pc with my Quest 3? Or do I still have to use my mouse and keyboard?
Big Screen VR is Great if you want to watch movies with friends too
Can you turn it to full screen on ??
Vacuuming your Floor while in VR? I laughed out loud because I've wondered if something like that would be too silly.
The biggest issue I've been having is when I want to walk around and have the movie stay in view. None of the apps seem to support this. I can do it with my NREAL glasses, but I feel like this should be possible with the quest. I know Virtual Desktop supports head tracking, but it doesn't really work if you step out of bounds or move to another room.
This or Xreal AR glasses for movies and playing switch/PlayStation?
Going to sell my PSVR2 this week got a buyer and then going to Buy the Quest 3
do you know of any good tips on where to buy it maybe some Tips where you can get some discount?
I haven't seen discounts yet, unfortunately. Black Friday might get a deal tho!
@CasandChary, I noticed that if I buy it now at Coolblue, the game Asgard's Wrath II is included with it.
@@freakgibYes, that's currently everywhere as long as you buy it before January.
@@inceptional I'm thinking of switching as well. Bought Quest 3 just for the fun of it and was thinking of returning (I own PSVR2) but it's way more convenient and there's lots more options. Also, PSVR2 makes me nauseous way quicker and the sweet spot is super thin. Everything on Quest is cristal clear without the need of any adjustments. I'm still thinking but I will probably sell PSVR2 and keep the Quest.
I think I heard that Best Buy has a $50 discount or rebate. I had a good experience getting an Xbox controller from them awhile ago online.
And for Quest games, there are a lot of online discount codes. There is a subreddit for them.
I don't know anyone with a 3 yet, but I'm curious how much better Hyper Dash would be on it.
Brilliant, you have covered everything i tested and more. Thanks
Hele leuke review, ik twijfelde zwaar om de Quest 2 te halen. Maar de Quest 3 ziet er echt solid goed uit.
How is lens flare on the Q3? My major issue with previous headsets was the lens flare while trying to watch movies....or any dark scene with points of light..
It’s still there but barely IMO, not even close to fresnel lenses
Mine is terrible. Hard to watch anything.
2:46 wifi network name: "Virus Distribution Center" LMAOOOO
😂😂 hoping that scares the hackers away
Well spotted. Yea funny name.
Awesom, thanks for the information….like always you ladies are the best…Almost CES 2024 time in Vegas, can’t wait to see your VR videos for that show coming up very quickly….👍👍👍👍
Game changer for flying especially with noise canceling earbuds.
Great video!!! Thanks!
Does memory matter much? I wanna get the 128Gb one :(
Is that a new BoboVR battery headstrap or did you get the M2 version to fit the Quest 3?
Not sure which it is here, but I have the M3 and it is absolutely amazing!! Definitely recommend!
It's the new version that fits the Q3!
Nice. Can I install Virtual desktop in my MacBook Pro Venture? Or it limited only for Windows users?
Netflix and Disney works on bigscreen when using Firefox btw :)
Is the virtual screen experience good enough to do internet based work? Does it look like a very large screen? Could you do 4 hours of real work? Thank you.
Thank you@jlepage36
Hey if I have multiple headsets how can I watch a movie with my family together?
Do I have to have a PC to use the VR movie app ?
Wouldn't there be loss of quality when using network sharing?
Honestly, VRchat LSmedia World is still the best way to enjoy movies in VR.
agreed. everything is there already. :D and its free
I'll need to try it!
Being able to fully lie down in bed (not awkwardly like with a laptop) sounds so great
watched yesterday Dune in 3D.
Amazing :)
Obvious still need improvements in lenses.
Like what?
I’ve got an Apple Vision Pro and no improvements are necessary, wrt lenses anyway.
Before I decide whether to keep or return it, I’d like to better understand the landscape of alternatives.
What are the “obvious” improvements needed?
Could you specify which device you are referring to: Quest3 or Apple VR ?
If you have both, compare them, and you'll see areas where improvements are needed..
@@pastuh what are you talking about?
I specifically said the device I have.
I asked about the “obvious” improvements YOU mentioned.
Nevermind. I withdraw the inquiry.
The juice is clearly not worth the squeeze.
4XVR where is it ? (not in shop)
How's the audio while watching a movie using Quest 3?
I use my quest 2 and now 3 to watch movies and Netflix- I think it’s a totally underdeveloped area. It could be a massive feature if Meta were to make it easier
So much THIS.... Netflix should really fix their app :/
Did you feel much difference between Q2 and Q3 video quality while watching movies? Or they are almost same? Thanks
Q3, bigger sweet spot with those big pancake lenses and even though it techniclly heavier feels lighter as it is slimmer. When it comes to quality - Q2 was good -, Q3 does feel sharper... But what i love most is the focus, like being in a cinema, i dont look at my phone, I watch the moive @@Vugar.Ahmadov
I want to buy this so I can watch movies on my 25 hour flight journey to London. And than the trip back 😴 but at the moment I’m just dreaming 😂
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks!
Where is the best place to stream 3D movies from? Most of the big apps just don’t have that much content!
4xvr on the App lap is the best. It can decode MVC directly on the headset, as far as I know it's the only one which can do that. Since all 3D blu-rays are in MVC format, that's a must-have feature and makes pretty much all the other apps useless to me (since generally you might as well just use a proper tv for anything other than 3D).
@kelownatechkid Thanks! Looking in the 'Skybox' player forum I see unanswered requests for MVC implementation for years to the present.
@@kelownatechkid Hi, can you please help me? How do you watch 3D movies? Do you connect your quest to a pc capable of reading 3d Blu-ray, o is this app an online thing?
Just so people know the TH-cam app now supports 4k and passthrough. The passthrough turns the TH-cam app into a 2d tablet app but it does work.
Really great review, and very detailed. Can anyone speak for experience with streaming movies with surround sound? Does it give a 3D audio experience?
newbie here....as I dont have a PC can I stream directly from Imac?
Hey Cas, i see that you have both BoboVR and original elite strap with battery, can you tell me which one of them is more comfortable for you? i cant decide which to get, Thanks 🙂
We need about 2,536 X 2,536 to really be at that point. Screen door is still an issue, though less.
This video is gold!
Awesome video! Subbed!
Excellent video, thank you 🙂
Nice informative video .
Curious about your blue facial interface...it looks really comfy! Details? Please?
Thanks C and C XR.
Question. I bought a quest 2 recently. Should i get a 3 instead?
Yes
@sdfghgtrew I returned the 2 a while ago. It was cool for a bit but the lenses were blurry... not worth it at all.
i need help. i tried playing prime video on bigscreen.the the previews on home page of prime video are all High resolution but when i actually play them they appear low resolution. whats wrong??
Which app are you using at 1:38 when you talk about watching tv while doing mundane tasks? That's what I'm looking for haha
I bet the Vision Pro gets pretty close... but it's also going to be insanely expensive.
The screen doesn't have to be that small or that big...
Meta 'd never do it as they want these devices to be game centric , NOT entertainment centric
Thanks for the Tips!
You're Awesome!
🙋🏻♂️🫶
Glad to help!
Please post a new video once Netflix or other major video platforms is updated like TH-cam. I don’t follow it everyday, however I find it interesting might upgrade to Quest 3 once software catch up.
I agree it's so cool and good! If only the battery allowed us to watch full movies!
It does, unless they're over 2 and a bit.
Can’t your plu a portable usbc battery when you are sitting watching a movie ?
