Hi I’m Noam, an engineer with chronic TMJ pain and lockjaw. I spent the last 3 years designing, prototyping, and testing a device that’s flat out been a painkiller for me - meet myTMJ Pen.
Before I tell you what it does though, I first want to tell you what it doesn’t do. This is not the cure for TMJ Disorder. In fact, some of you won’t find any relief at all. I’m telling you this because you KNOW the world of TMD is an ocean of scams, bias, and dishonesty. And the last thing I want is to add to that.
So to make it easier for you to understand if myTMJ Pen will help you, I’m going to tell you my own experience with TMD, and if you hear it and think, “hey, this guy’s just like me” I want you to comment your own TMJ story.
MY story starts face first on a beanbag after a night of mildly heavy drinking. I woke up, and all of a sudden, I had this clicking on the right side of my jaw. But honestly other than annoying my friends and family with the loud popping during dinner time, I didn’t feel like it warranted my attention. But about a year and a half later, I started clicking on my left side too and experienced my first lockup. That’s when things started going downhill. It’s hard to explain how painful and frustrating that feeling is. Instantly some of the most important things in life - eating, talking, laughing, kissing - turn into moments of stabbing pain. As time went on, the lockups became more and more frequent, and with them brought on chronic pain all over my jaw and temples.
Don’t worry, I’m getting to the point. So after seeing some people, I learned that when I get the lockups and muscle pain, I should heat and massage the area to relax the spasming muscles. What I would do was heat up a mug of water, and use the bottom ridge to massage the TMJ, or whatever part hurt at the time. Worked great. Kind of. Keeping the mug at the temperature between burning my face hot and nothing’s happening cold sucked. And it didn’t feel so great when I’d spill it on my face.
But STILL, the heat and pressure worked so well that I was ready to buy a product for it. Low and behold, I couldn’t find anything. How hard could it be to make a portable facial muscle massager that heats up?! I decided to find out for myself.
I used every skill in my engineering toolkit while adding some new ones along the way. And as my first product, I get to figure out everything that goes into building a business too, from customer support, sales and marketing, to packaging and shipping, to finances.
But I pushed through, and a part of me still can’t believe I get to finally introduce myTMJ Pen. Designed completely from scratch for TMJ myofascial releases. Once you turn it on, you have 2 buttons, to switch through heat and vibration power. The aluminum tip is made to dig right into jaw muscle knots while dumping up to 120 degrees of heat into them. You’ll get around 30 minutes of full power use, and feel free to bring this anywhere you go, because it’ll fit anywhere you go.
But wait there’s more! I know that not everyone is a trained massage therapist, which is why you not only get the pen, but a whole suite of videos describing how and where to use it to get the relief results you’re looking for. My favorite thing to do is use it with aloe gel, since not only does it feel amazing, but moist heat is able to penetrate deeper into muscle tissue, meaning it actually works better too.
So if you or a friend have TMJ pain, then I urge you to give it a try. And if you don’t like it, you can return it with a full refund no hard feelings. Cya.
