My friend led someone to Christ just last week by simply offering to pray for the server, which resulted in a longer conversation where he shared the gospel with him. The server teared up, and said that no one had ever offered to pray for him before. Praise God!

I feel like you forgot to mention that if the person who cooked the food is sitting at the table ALWAYS “bless the hands that prepared it”. Avoid offending said person. Especially if it’s your mother in law.
I look at it this way: I'm the house cook (at least the primary one), and I rather enjoy expressing my gratitude to God when someone else does the preparing. Seriously- for the times someone else cooks, I'm grateful. Also, with chronic pain- I enjoy cooking, but if someone else worked their back on the food, I want it known that I'm grateful.
Shouldn’t that be done BEFORE the person begins cooking? You want their hands to be blessed beforehand so that the food being cooked will automatically be blessed while it’s being prepared.

We've started asking our severs if they have prayer requests. They have always been really happy. One announced to the entire staff in the back that she was getting prayed for for the first time in 19 years serving...It's been really special. You should try it 😉

When I was a server I did not mind waiting for someone to finish the prayer; however, I was awestruck when they asked why their food was cold. I do not know maybe giving a sermon long prayer to impress your friends might have something to do with it.

Jesus told the disciples to pray in private instead of in front of other people in order to prevent praying like the pharisees did, doing it to impress the people around them. His point was to pray from the heart rather than pray to show off. God opposes the proud and favors the humble.
When I was in college, it was customary for me and my friends to pray with our eyes open, or to cover our food (like fries) with our hands. We called that the “shepherd’s prayer.” Otherwise, someone would steal something off our plate when “every head was bowed, and every eye closed.”
I never bless the food, but I try to *always* thank the Provider. 😊 Gratefulness flows for every blessing He gives me. Many times in history God was angry with those who weren’t grateful to Him. 💜💜 so many go without good food and water so I always try to be grateful and not take it for granted.
Lol! My boyfriend and I always pray when we eat together, and when we get food before our main course, we pray for that, but when our main dish comes out, we're like, ...do we pray again? You forgot the in prayer requirements. The prayer must make a reference to the food, such as "Please bless this food to our bodies." or "Thank you for this food." The prayer must also make a reference to the day. "Thank for this day" and "This is the day you have made" are acceptable.
Right? You also gotta bless the animals that made the food possible. "Father, bless these eggs father, bless the chicken, who laid these eggs father." *definitely not a reference to anything*
He could include what they were really thinking too. For example, they say amen, but they're actually hoping the sermon ends soon so they can go home and watch the game. Someone else would be thinking, "I wish (name of person) were here! He/she really needs to hear this message and repent of (whatever the problem is)!"

Just depends on how hungry you are. Not so hungry...make up for any missed prayer time that week, very hungry...one sentence "Thank You, Jesus. Amen." Will get the job done. Also, always remember, if you are very hungry make sure to be the one that prayers just in case others that aren't so hungry don't have the opportunity to go with the first option. 😜

I'm an atheist, but I love these videos. I grew up in an evangelical home. My dad was a pastor. And, so many of these videos are so on point and hilarious. I can so relate.
I was at my friend's house, and my friend came to the table after the prayer. Her mom told her she could go ahead and eat, that the meal had already been blessed. I thought that was weird because I thought she should still thank God for the food. Maybe the mom could have just prayed for the food in the grocery store. It would have saved the entire family from having to spend time praying at the table. LOL

That happened in high school. We had an end of year meal in grade 8 domestic science class. After the prayer, all the protein on my plate was gone!

I was at my friend's house, and my friend came to the table after the prayer. Her mom told her she could go ahead and eat, that the meal had already been blessed. I thought that was weird because I thought she should still thank God for the food. Maybe the mom could have just prayed for the food in the grocery store. It would have saved the entire family from having to spend time praying at the table. LOL
