People really need to remember how they were with red dead the first 10+ episodes. We sat through that. Their God of War gameplay is MILES AND MILESSSS better. Yes, the fact that they missed a LOT of things is unfortunate and exasperating but hey, it’s only the 2nd episode! Let them have fun and let’s enjoy the ride, no matter how bumpy it is! 😅🤣
Pro tips: • Block at the exact moment of an attack to parry. • You can block and parry every single yellow attack but parrying is preferred, you dont need to keep dodging. Only red attacks need to be dodged. • Get the shield skill that lets you counterattack after a parry (you can deflect projectiles back to their attacker as well) • Press R3 to lock-on enemies. You guy's havent locked on to an enemy once. Makes it easier to track enemies. • Stop running away from the giant troll bosses, you're meant to fight them Mano a Mano with your axe or fist. Throwing your axe at it won't get you anywhere. • Explore and scan for resources as much as you can before walking through a door, crawling through a crevice or climbing a chain. Don't be hasty. • Don't be hasty buying new items at the shop. Scan for everything that's new before you spend a single hacksilver, or else you might regret certain purchases. • Press □ (square) to fire arrows from Atreus to stun enemies you're fighting. (A revenants weakness) • Don't immediately spend all your Hacksilver and Svartlheim steel on armor upgrades. Youll get better armor that needs those resources.
@MrGister9999 Even if they managed to get the timing down, it won't matter unless they get the shields counterattack skill, which I'm sure they'll neglect most of the game since they don't know how important it is.
These are good tips for someone who's used to playing games, but for people who are new, parrying isn't very optimal - you could pass this whole game without parrying once, and while *I* enjoy parrying, it's not for everyone. The biggest and most useful tip you listed is to utilize Atreus arrows - it's beneficial to get into the habit of constantly tapping square while fighting enemies - it's free damage! Atreus is accurate if you don't tell him specifically where to shoot, he'll shoot at any enemy in frame if you push square without aiming, so there's almost never a reason to not shoot Atreus arrows (except where you need to save them to use them strategically, like when fighting revenants and need to get them out of their "poison mist"). Locking onto enemies is helpful when it's a singular enemy, if there are many and they surround you, it can be a hinderance unless you are used to unlocking from enemies too, otherwise you'll be locked in and trying to force the camera to look behind you at an enemy attacking and fail to do so. Giant troll bosses are more efficient to fight up close, but you absolutely CAN beat them by just throwing your axe, and most new players tend to do this and get by just fine. Buying new items at a shop - agreed, those resources are better utilized elsewhere, but the game also gives you a way to get basically an unlimited number of them as you progress later while introducing new, rarer resources, so it's not a huge deal. I mention all of this because I've sat next to people not very used to video games playing this game and know how they tend to think and play, and asking them to play the way veteran players play will just stress them out - they'll get good eventually and find their style, but for now it's best for them to just do what feels easier, which is often different from how veteran players think the game is easier.
Hey guys! Great video again. A few tips: As people have already commented, you actually need to EQUIP your talisman and your heavy runic attack. You found/unlocked them, but you didn't EQUIP them when in the menus. That's why nothing triggered when Oak tried out the heavy runic attack (L1 + R2), or when Answer tried out the heal (L1 + Circle). Toward the end of the vid at Brok's new shop you guys purchased some enchantments. To gain the benefit of these enchantments you need to slot them into armour or talisman SOCKETS. These SOCKETS become available as you find higher tier armour/talismans, or upgrade the ones you already have.
I'm currently at 1:12:00 in and noticed you guys haven't realised that your Heavy Runic attack and Talisman are not equipped. You need to actually select it and equip it for it to work. Please consider doing a Live so we can help you guys out in real-time🙏🏼
I 2nd that. Think a live will greatly benefit the fellas especially as story progresses, but before it gets too deep in so they can have time to get their skills practiced & improved!❤💞❤️
I’m glad they don’t do lives, nothing breaks immersion more when you’re experiencing a story than a chat incessantly babbling, making inane comments and jokes and trying to get noticed by the gamer.
EQUIP TE TALISMAN 🧿 AND THE RUNIC ATTACKS 🔶 You only went to the menu and readed the the description but You have to EQUIP them... Actually You alredy have one equiped You can equip 2 RUNIC ATTACKS for each weapon
Please guys, click the right stick (R3) when fighting to lock on to the enemy. Same button you use to do the instadeath when you stun them. Locking on makes a huge difference.
It shouldn't be utilized in every situation - specifically singular enemies, you never want to lock on when there's a group surrounding you, because then it keeps you from turning your camera to look behind you when enemies are behind you.
You guys have now made it to the Lake of Nine! This is where the game opens up and allows you to explore a semi-open world. If you wanted to go exploring you can do so now. It's a good chance to get more hacksilver and EXP for upgrades, as well as get more loot and materials.
Honestly I don't recommend exploring till after reaching the peak, you get better lore dialogue and you have more area's to explore with the water sinking lower
Combat tips! You can lock on to one enemy with r3. Atreus auto aims to whatever enemy you are looking at no need to aim to fire his arrows. when you do spam square enemies will target him but don’t worry he’s fast, just spam square for free damage. Yellow attacks can be parried but can’t be blocked and red attacks can only be avoided. Parrying is when you block right when an attack is about to hit you and can be an opportunity to stop someone’s chain of attacks.
I'm surprised that they haven't mentioned the setting of the game. But I guess hearing words like Midgard, Odin, Thor etc automatically makes you think of Norse Mythology. Like, why are Kratos here? I had sooooo many questions when I played this the first time haha.
Hey guys make sure that you're equipping your runic attacks and your talisman 😊 you were looking at them in the menu but didn't actually equip either, which is why they didn't work. Press X to Equip things when you're in the menu! There will be an "E" next to the item once you do meaning "equipped" whether it be an attack, a piece of armor, or the talisman. To use your runic attacks, hold L1 and press R1/R2. You can see them in the bottom left corner of the screen when fighting. They glow when they're ready to be used. They will be important as the enemies get harder! It takes a while to get used to everything you can do in the game, but practice makes perfect! Just take your time with exploring/reading things. We're all here for the long haul, since that's what open world is all about!
I'm having so much fun with this walkthrough, you guys are amazing. Some tips for you guys, if you want more loot for your journey, you guys should explore every corner, some of are secret loots and some of it are additional dialogue. Always look up too, a lot of loot, Odin's Ravens and puzzle chest runes are above somewhere. Another great episode guys, I'm so excited for more!
With the Nornir chest (the locked ones with the seals) the seals can take some finding so look everywhere around the area, up down and especially around corners. Also you don't need to save your Spartan rage as much as you think. It doesn't take long to replenish. It also gives you a health burst so don't use it when your health is full. Lastly fire enemies like Brenna Daudi take more damage when you use the Leviathan axe it's an ice weapon.
Yall are honestly getting better each time! Keep trying out to swap between the no weapon and axe, using Atreus and then blocking/parrying with the shield. 🛡️ 😅 it’s a lot at first but starts to become a flow eventually you fight so much. Keep exploring! I know everyone says it but if you don’t explore and collect equipment money and xp the main story can be annoying but not impossible. Plus the more the map opens the more story you get for the world! Chefs kiss to the team that put this together so much lore
My ultimate recommendation for you guys is to take your time with this game. Both GOW 2018 and Ragnarok give some of the best life lessons that Oak always loves so much in modern gaming, especially when taken in the context of the person kratos used to be: the godless spartan who would kill anyone/everyone to achieve his goals. I would say the story it shapes and the lessons it teaches are better than most movies that you guys review. Pay attention to the interactions between kratos and Atreus and all the supporting characters like Brok. Every person you meet has a story significance and not just a one off character. When you are exploring and fighting you will of course focus on the gameplay, but when the story bits come up make sure to soak it all in. I think that’s the best way to appreciate this masterpiece . Have fun guys, loving it
Now that the world is opening up a lil more, hopefully you guys will do some exploration in between story. Remember to always smash pottery and barrels. Especially pottery. If you need extra health during boss battles, you have to look around for pottery to smash. It'll often drop health. It also drops hacksilver sometimes when there's no health. Also make sure you read more carefully when buying and upgrading things from the shop or when upgrading skills. Don't just look at the stats. Many enchantments and talismans have specific abilities that may come in handy even if the stats don't look all that great yet. And when comparing armor, don't just look at the stats either. 47:00 You have to equip it to use it. A lot of people get the stuff on the right side of the screen confused with buying the skill. Thats only to upgrade the skill using XP, but you don't need to buy runic attacks. To equip and use it, all you have to do is scroll down to the runic ability you wanna use on the left side of the screen and select it. It'll be marked with the letter "E" when you have it equipped. Same thing here with the talisman (1:10:18). You have to select it. It doesn't automatically equip. You can also tell if something is equipped if you look at the bottom left corner of the screen next to your health bar (1:10:25). You only have a light runic attack equipped right now, which you can see at the top next to the health bar. There's 2 more empty slots, one at the bottom for heavy runic attacks, and one shaped like a circle to the left for talismans.
When it comes to blocking, yellow you have to perfect block/parry it. Do so by hitting the block button right before you get hit by the attack. The only thing you can’t block are red attacks. Also click the camera stick in to lock on to an enemy so you don’t have to rotate your camera.
A live might be beneficial just to help oak and answer with some of the fundamental mechanics. Since the game is more mechanically intense than some of the other games so far, longer or more sessions could also help.
This is great! having fun watching you guys! all I can say about your combat gameplay is that you need to use Atreus more, just spam his arrow attacks if you want, but it's a resource you're not currently using. secondly, you need to equip all the things you buy, talismans and runic attacks aren't automatically equipped. and once you do equip it, you need to use them more, eventually, just swinging the axe and throwing fists won't be enough for enemies, you'll need to utilize the area damage and effects of the runic attacks. they're quite useful.
You guys are doing good. Couple tips: 1) if you hear a bird that just sounds like it sparkles, it's an Odin raven so kill it. 2) dont keep trying to run away from a big fight, it's an easy way to corner yourself and lose a lot of health. In fights, attack, dodge, shield and that's it. 3) Don't rush through the environment or story, you're missing A LOT of loot. Walk around, look around, check things out. 4) Dont just upgrade low level armor, see fi you can find or buy high level armor. 5) Use atreus and his arrows in fights. He can do things to make the fight easier.
Make sure to explore! It will give you lots of materials for upgrades and stat boosts like Idunn apples. Also, you CAN guard yellow ring attacks, but you need to time the block right as you're gonna be hit.
Block the yellow attacks. Reds you dodge. Please take the time to explore everything. Some places will require you to come back later once u get other tools. But that is how you will find things that’ll help upgrade health/rage meters. Which are must haves for later in the story
Whos gonna tell that what the yellow marker/red marker do..? I just want to be there next to them for pointers but I have to let them learn to walk on their own!
Tbh I couldn't feel different, I think it's a breath of fresh air to actually see someone use the hand to hand more rather than solely using the axe, fists are cool too 🧐
20:50, Hugin and Mugin, Odin`s familiars, he is able to see out of the eyes of his Feathery Spies, all 51 act as living cameras for him to keep watch over the 9 Realms.
That was a great & intense battle at 40:44 & liked Asnwer's line there "ohhh that was a big one" hehe 🤭 & the top half of that witches tree kinda reminded me of the one in 'Game of Thrones'
Make sure you explore the world with your bot and dock and do all the side quests you can. You’ll get xp, more story, and more chests and upgrades. Don’t just follow the marker. Go around with your bot everywhere and anywhere
@@jaealxndr I have played the whole God of war series and i know she's alive as a higher existence but freya is helping us like athena did in first three games.
Every time you successfully block a projectile attack with the shield (L1) the game will go in slo-mo for a couple of seconds, this is a short opportunity to shoot the projectile back with (R1).
7:00, remember, RED AROOWS indicate an attack is coming from THAT direction! Regular arrows indicate that THAT is the location and direction of an Enemy.
You guys are doing pretty great, just remember to block or parry the yellow attacks with your shield, and use atreus to shoot the ranged guys. Itll save you a lot of trouble lol. Also, isnt there a way to lock onto enemies or am i misremembering? Anyways, love this series. Such a good story game, and glad you guys like it so far.
USE THE AXE GUYS FOR MELEE FIGHTING ITS WAY BETTER, LOOKING AT YOU OAK 😂❤ (also in boss fights it’s better to go up to them to do more damage and you’ll learn their moves)
Still not seeing yall locking on to enemies , R3. Dont forget to utilize this is very helpful. There are a few things yall could improve on as far as fighting & parrying, but otherwise as a whole i actually gotta say how impressed u fellas have grown. I had a feeling Answer would be in his comfort zone based on types of games hes said he played in past, but look at you Oak. Not too shabby my friend!!! Keep up the hard work & focus on learning the fighting moves & yall will do great!!❤💞❤️
Hello guys, answer and oak. The God of War chapter is incredible, I have a comment that I think you could take into account for future gameplays. I'm sure that more people feel like me that the length of the video is very short, don't get me wrong, a 1:30 - 1:50 hour video is long but maybe compared to the time of waiting a week for a new chapter it is can go long. Something you could do is check the channel's agenda or programming and upload maybe 2 chapters per week (3 may be difficult to record) or another option is to record 1 chapter per week but make the duration 2:30 - 3:30 hours, a little longer so that people have more content while they wait for a new video. I hope you can take into account any suggestions that people make in the comments and call a doctor because bad medicine is back 💪
What's great about Spartan rage is that if you press the same button command again (L3 + R3) then it will turn off, saving the rest of it for when you really need it. Yes it does waste a little bit when you activate it, but the option to turn it off early is still there
To use your "Runic attacks" You hold up your shield (L1) and either press (R1) or (R2) depending on which ability you want to use. As of right now you only have the light runic attack, so that would be (Hold L1, then press R1 while the shield is up). The bottom left of the screen shows you which runic attack is available, top being light, bottom being heavy.
Need to equip some of the items you guys collected. You can also parry yellow strikes with a timed block, which gives you a countering window and fighting bare handed increases your stun bar quicker. Just a few quick tips in the beginning to help you with combat.
9:27 most spartans are battle hardened by Atreus' age if not have already taken a life. I do think Kratos handled that well tho. Especially 10:25 here since Faye only taught him a bit of hunting. Kratos is now teaching him how to survive.
(No hate at all) Oak playing games is like my pa trying to figure out the internet sometimes😂 I struggled sooo much but it was awesome. love this game and this series, glad you guys get to experience this masterpiece. Let’s gooo🤟
14:00, upgrading your weapons (Atreus BOW and QUIVER, and Kratoe`s AXE...) also improves their appearance and makes them look even better. Just wait till you see what the Leviathan Axe looks like all PIMPED OUT when its MAXED OUT!
20:20, remember, this is the first real OPEN WORLD GoW, so, maybe, after the next video or so, remember to go back and explore, bust some chests find new materials, kill some SMALL time things, EXTRA stuff, you know. A big part of what make Open World games fun IS just going around, pushing every button and pulling every lever.
Whenever you are in a battle, press R3 while during the fight. It will lock on to the enemy you are fighting. It's pretty helpful when you are fighting the nightmares (airborne enemies). Also, whenever you see a light blue glowing bird flying around you, try to strike with your axe, you might get a surprise.
Don't be afraid to explore that how u find upgrades new ruin attacks and other secrets the game has hidden in the world the compass will always put u on the main story path but explore alot
You guys gotta click in the right stick to lock on, start getting comfortable with using the axe, runic, attacks and Atreus’ arrows. Don’t be too reliant on the rage you won’t always have it!
Forgot to mention guys, utilise atreus' arrows when he has them! They become super important later. And your runic attacks, use them!
ngl.. i went through 99% of the game without those arrows.. 😅... but ive also dont a punch only run.. so idk if i count
@@SirRockXIII using his arrows definitely makes some fights way easier... especially when he gets *something*
"Yeah my father doesn't like people either."

When it comes to blocking, yellow you have to perfect block/parry it. Do so by hitting the block button right before you get hit by the attack. The only thing you can’t block are red attacks. Also click the camera stick in to lock on to an enemy so you don’t have to rotate your camera.
Brokk doesn't just sell - he also buys artifacts.
A live might be beneficial just to help oak and answer with some of the fundamental mechanics. Since the game is more mechanically intense than some of the other games so far, longer or more sessions could also help.
@@daveceee we definitely need a Live, commenting on a already recorded video doesn't help as much as a Live would.
fish flopping around - and Fucking Gratitude is eating them.
I love these playthroughs
World serpent: I know you ghost of sparda.
Hurry, find mimir.
I think Im okay with an episode of this every day!
Block the yellow attacks. Reds you dodge.
Please take the time to explore everything. Some places will require you to come back later once u get other tools. But that is how you will find things that’ll help upgrade health/rage meters. Which are must haves for later in the story
The fact that they dont use the axe at all for a while hurts my soul because I know how awesome the axe is in game ha!
And I dig hand-style a lot,to each is own)
Axe, block, targeting...it's very painful to watch during combat.
Whos gonna tell that what the yellow marker/red marker do..? I just want to be there next to them for pointers but I have to let them learn to walk on their own!
hey fist only is badass man.. i did a whole playthrough that way.. for this game and Ragnarök.
Kratos is a big guy he can block attacks from even some of the giants, and trolls don't be afraid to get in close with the axe
That was a great & intense battle at 40:44 & liked Asnwer's line there "ohhh that was a big one" hehe 🤭 & the top half of that witches tree kinda reminded me of the one in 'Game of Thrones'
You guys know that Spartan Rage heals you, right?
You know it's their first time playing right
Make sure you explore the world with your bot and dock and do all the side quests you can. You’ll get xp, more story, and more chests and upgrades. Don’t just follow the marker. Go around with your bot everywhere and anywhere
Never clicked so fast than I do today and walking dead on Thursdays
Edit. Brok and Sidri!!! W
Same
@@Funinfuneral-es3ir I forgot freya was this early too.
@@jaealxndr can freya be considered as norse athena for kratos
@@Funinfuneral-es3ir I can’t spoil but that person is still in the series
@@jaealxndr I have played the whole God of war series and i know she's alive as a higher existence but freya is helping us like athena did in first three games.
Just so they know pressing the right thumb stick is lock on for enemies like this so they can see it
Every time you successfully block a projectile attack with the shield (L1) the game will go in slo-mo for a couple of seconds, this is a short opportunity to shoot the projectile back with (R1).
11:00, gonna warn you, the things that just TUMBLE out of Broks mouth, some of it would make a pirate go cross-eyed.
Yellow circles = Tap block (L1). Red circles = Dodge (X or X-X)
USE THE AXE GUYS FOR MELEE FIGHTING ITS WAY BETTER, LOOKING AT YOU OAK 😂❤ (also in boss fights it’s better to go up to them to do more damage and you’ll learn their moves)
YOU GUYS NEED TO PRESS X TO Equip YOUR GEAR when you find, craft, OR RECEIVE it !!!! PRESS X! Love YOU GUYS
Keep up the hard work & focus on learning the fighting moves & yall will do great!!❤💞❤️
yellow you gotta perfect parry
Yes it does waste a little bit when you activate it, but the option to turn it off early is still there
For the time puzzles for the chests with Runes, do Light Throw instead of Heavy Throw. It's faster and it gives you enough room to miss and try again
I'm here for the 🩸🩸 shed!! LET'S GOOOO!!
To use your "Runic attacks" You hold up your shield (L1) and either press (R1) or (R2) depending on which ability you want to use. As of right now you only have the light runic attack, so that would be (Hold L1, then press R1 while the shield is up). The bottom left of the screen shows you which runic attack is available, top being light, bottom being heavy.
be sure that your runic attacks, talisman, and other gear are all properly equipped!
Keep fighting never mind the health stay focused on the threat
Brok has no filter 😅 but i like it.
The R3 attack can be done even when you're using the axe. No need to stick to fighting with fists. Love the uploads 🤟
Try using your runic attacks more, they are quite powerful!
been really fun watching you guys play this!
Need to equip some of the items you guys collected. You can also parry yellow strikes with a timed block, which gives you a countering window and fighting bare handed increases your stun bar quicker. Just a few quick tips in the beginning to help you with combat.
These dudes gonna be hella skillful after this game
Remember to equip the runic attacks, thats why they werent activating when you were trying to use them
9:27 most spartans are battle hardened by Atreus' age if not have already taken a life.
Let’s gooo🤟
17:15, YELLOW rings you can block, but they break your guard and stagger you, so you can then block and follow-up shots.
Guys you can use spartan rage to inflict damage and it's heals some if your health as well...
You can "Lock On" enemies by pressing R3 button, so you don't need to move your analog :)
never used that before lol.. just the first time.. saw it was trash.. and moved on from it haha
@@SirRockXIII It can be annoying if u're fighting multiple enemies at once, but definitely works well if ure fighting bosses and stuff
LFG! Hopefully we get one more upload this week.
you will have more posibilities with the axe once you start leveling up, be patience and keep searching for chests. awesome video btw.
you guys playing this is so awesome
YOU CAN LOCK ON TO A TARGET BY CLICKING THE RIGHT STICK
Why do I want to be the big brother and grab the controller to do the bits you find difficult 😂
Loving this and Answer did good at exploring a lot too sometime it gets confusing
1:28:00, Atreues arrows are best for dealing with Nightmares.
I was waiting for this for thr past few days refreshing your page.
story wise, u probably forgot that kratos fought baldur when he asked atreus the one who doesnt feel pain
37:00, keep finding those Relics and Brok will find a place to DISPLAY them later, when he buys them from you.
Would love to have longer videos in this series :)
1:25:30, try aiming at their feet, you can trip them up and hit them while they're down.
You guys are gonna looove Brok. A great character!!
I love you guys' content, but I just want more. It's hard to wait every week
48:30, remember, your axe follows physics, so for better range, aim HIGH!
1:20:00, you just FLUSHED a lot of money away!
You guys gotta click in the right stick to lock on, start getting comfortable with using the axe, runic, attacks and Atreus’ arrows. Don’t be too reliant on the rage you won’t always have it!
