    Fallout 1 BOS: Sends suicide missions to a 100 year old radioactive crater in the hopes of scavenging tech.
    Fallout 4 BOS: Discovers an intact, operational pre-war research center and turns it into a radioactive crater.

      To be fair, it's been over 100 years since the first game, and they're doing a lot better than they were at the time the missions were sent to Dayglow. Something about a bottle of water being worth more than diamond in a desert, but not all that much in a functional modern civilization where you buy it cheap by the gallon.

      I rationalized it as them increasingly turning into power-hungry assholes and gatekeepers of scientific knowledge. But man that was dumb.
      But then the Institute and Railroad questlines are even dumber, leaving you with the Minutemen, who are a desperately barren faction, but at least they have straightforward and understandable motivations for the most part...

      I'm not fun at parties. let me fix the fo1 one for you: sends suicide missions hoping the 'recruit' won't make it back.
      Just wanted to clarify that, because they were VERY honest in that game. they did it to get rid of you, admit when you return they didn't think you'd succeed and that they can't accept you into their organization, but still lets you gain access, because you brought them useful shit.

      @@dontfrythis2458 Not accurate. The BOS in fo3 have trouble keeping locations due to being seen as defectors, having had many members abandon them as the outcasts.
      They're actively trying to scavenge for technology in 3, will help the player out in different locations, are trying to secure the GNR building to keep it functioning keep the GNR broadcast relatively safe (hard to stop bullets from a mile away though), and on multiple occasions will even pay you for you helping them out finding stuff while they clear places not just of mutants, but of raiders and other groups as well.
      Project purity was not seen as viable due to many factors, one major one being the main guy working on it abandoned the project after his wife died, and it's implied that, that is around the same time the outcasts began splintering from them, which is part of the reasons they told dr. lee they couldn't keep expending the resources.
      Even after the enclave take it over, they don't show much interest until it's indicated that the player's father figured out a way to finish project purity, which indicates that project purity was seen as a fool's errand they were confident would just be the enclave wasting resources.

If you would be you'd be a fool. The fact is a ghoul can become feral in a day. You could be sleeping while traveling and they'd become feral and tear you apart.

    • @PaladinThizz
      @PaladinThizz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you think about things realistically, the BOS is under no obligation to help anyone at all. In real life ammo would not come quite as easily as it does in the games, keeping Power Armor functional would not be nearly as simple and you wouldn't be around ghouls knowing they can tear you apart and they smell so bad. You would be disgusted, afraid and cautious. If the human race is to ever survive it wouldn't be with ghouls. If the human race is to prosper ghouls would have to be exiled from human settlements because of the threat they pose, not only to human life because of the fact that they become feral, but also because dead flesh attracts insects and other animals that feast on carrion, which is A LOT in the fallout universe. Why can't ghouls create their own settlements? If they go feral they won't be a threat to anyone. A ghoul could go to Lexington and be relatively safe if they're not attacked by raiders. A human cannot.

    Ironically the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 4 the game the Fallout equivalent of Space Marines how genocidal and the unquestionable loyalty to their emper.. I mean their Elder that isn't even the High Elder committing genocide towards mutants and "sentient" robots which is weird I don't know why Arthur Maxson's first thought of problem the is Synths them being sentient not the part they are skinwalkers.
    Like honestly when I hear him rant he really sounds like a maniac and also how did the most of the Brotherhood have undying loyalty towards him despite his branch very likely has a bunch of wastelanders recruited and are not raised by the Brotherhood by birth, which Brotherhood members not questioning him would be understandable if they are generation raised by them but no like a good chunk of them wastelanders first which does not make sense wastelander would not give a shit about the brotherhood's main goal of preserving technology.
    Also really wish Bethesda did not cut a lot of powerful technology shit for the institute like literally the conflict feels really non-existent because the Brotherhood just has so much of a big advantage over the two factions that they are literally ants I mean seriously at this point how do you supposed to beat giant robot that shoots lasers and nukes, the only thing that would counter Liberty prime is heavy duty military missiles which clearly neither side has and logically the two other factions cannot beat the Brotherhood without protag help, which is why in Fallout New Vegas all the factions conflicts are interesting because either side can fuck each other up in different ways instead of having it very one-sided like in Fallout 4 case.

      @@MinuteManAlex So TBH I've kinda had a theory of where Bethesda intends to take this version of the Brotherhood: I think Maxon is a Synth built by the Enclave. Fallout 3 confirms that both synths AND the Enclave were active in the DC area, so it makes sense that the Enclave would get their hands on one sooner or later. This'd also explain why the BoS has undergone this MASSIVE shift in ideology and doctrine under his leadership. Less focused on isolationism and more around 'purifying' the Commonwealth. It'd also explain why the Enclave never hit the Citadel despite possessing the capability - they had their little sleeper agent embedded in their ranks.

      with maybe the survivors regrouping with the outcasts to regroup, hence their additudes and disrespect towards everyone we helped along the way, as they apparently take out underworld and rob rivet city of its reactor to power the blimp full of dicks
      which still doesnt explain the new elder somehow aging from being an 8 year old kid in fallout 3, to like a 35 year old in fallout 4 in less than a decade however, and bringing the entire brotherhood to the new wasteland unless you rig him up to be a synth working for the institute, which could work given what's found to still be in the harbor in the mission Here There Be Monsters and if you were told to use it against them in the institute storyline
      and how stupid it is to put everyone on the hindenberg like that instead of just landing the stupid thing and building a mobile base from its parts literally within spitting distance of that damn thing

      @@blackheart_1852No she fell in battle and he was under her care until then. This is dumb to portray him as some mustache twirling villain because some perfect saint was killed. There were elders who came after her and they were inaffective. Maxson had to prove himself. He saved his squad from raiders, took down a deathclaw and defeated the leader of super mutants. He wasn't just sitting around killing his own people. He cared about BOS so he wouldn't just weaken it. He was the one to unite the outcasts and make the BOS stronger. Plus the west coast backed him and elected him elder. People just want some goodie two shoes faction to be BOS. They were never that type of faction. Go join the minutemen.
      BOS under Maxson haven't abandoned Lyons ideas, instead they have combined them with original ideas. This is where Lyons failed and Mason succeeded.
      Why BOS don't have good memories of Lyons is because he put wastelanders first and sent many of his men to die in DC to protect them. They were constantly losing friends and family. After Owyn and Sarah die the elders that came after were weak so no good memories. Arthur Maxson brings them back to glory so that's what they are happy to seem. Also members who were outcasts already hated Lyons, so this makes complete sense.
      In GTA IV and Lost & Damned DLC you see Billy was President of the chapter and an asshole. You play as Johnny the vice president who takes over as President but the club has to be burnt down. By the time of GTA I Lost MC members say Johnny wasn't a good President and how they miss the days of Billy. This is because when Billy was alive, they had the club and things seemed great for them.
      Lyons BOS was struggling and they held their base in the pentagram. They protected scientists at project purity but with James leaving they abandoned it so Dr Li and the others went to Rivet city. Lyons was more about protecting the people even at the cost of his men dying in battle for years. This is why you see initiates in power armour as he has lost man power. Part of that manpower are outcasts. He has to rely on new recruits and members are obviously not going to see that as a good memory. One scribe talks about how horrible deaths in DC for the BOS have been as she had to examine the bodies. You will find dead BOS initiates in power armour in DC as well. There was one wasting ammo who you see. She gets killed by the Behemoth. These were not good times for the BoS. The lone wanderer is who helped them turn the tide.
      So Arthur didn't destroy the BOS as you claim but saved it. That's why he is loved not only in the east but the west but Mason is against the cult. He doesn't want to be worshipped as a god. Many people who came from Fallout 3, misunderstood the BOS.

      In fallout 2, they are in decline and there's only 3 of them in the whole game, none of them have power armor, they still have nice guns but that's hardly a trate unique to them.
      In the next game, fallout tactics, things have changed again, now they've grown to be as state sized militia, they have airships, operate vehicles, tanks, heavy equipment, control multiple bunkers, a vault, and take over the whole of illinois.
      in fallout 3, they're back down to a single chapter of a few hundred people and maintain a loose control over the region
      In fallout new vegas, things are even worse as they've gone into hiding as a minor faction

      @Dronkchopperz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I see a lot of BoS fans mention a Minutemen and BOS alliance. I disagree this would be canon for a few reasons. The Minutemen are in part made up of local farmers. The BoS quest "feeding the troops" has you "convince" local farmers to hand over 50% of crops. If you can't "convince," you kill the farmers as acceptable losses. Even if they are "convinced" most will make a comment about how they know they don't really have a choice. I think Preston isn't the biggest fan of them either, but they will tolerate it so the game can proceed. The minutemen like Strudges are made up of synths, which is unacceptable by the BoS, you'll have to kill your own if they find out. Like Warhammer 40K, the point of Fallout is about disagreement and constant war. Although you could convince certain factions to back off from one another. It defeats the point of the actual franchise from a Connon perspective. Even the BoS are a mess, they are in every Fallout game, but notice how they always have factions go off and do their own things or take power from those within their own ranks. Fallout 3 and 4 and New Vegas, this is the case. (Fallout Tactics too) In other words, ~10 years the BoS would be doomed to fail if that trend continues.

      I've never liked the BoS. They're bigots and murderers. They started that way. They were never about protecting people or making things better, just making sure humans, inevitably, come to their bitter end in another Fallout. The Institute is no different. Human scientists thinking that making people synths will make the world better with them controlling them and reaping the rewards of that until, in the end, inevitably, they create another Fallout. The Railroad are the same as The Institute, they just don't know it; or they do and don't care and inevitably, they too, will cause a Fallout, and the Minutemen are the worst of them all: they are just regular people who save themselves and not the world and, inevitably, are the true cause of all Fallouts.
      There are no good guys. There are the rare innocent people, typically children, and then everyone else.
      Look at your character in this game? No matter the moral choices you make, inevitably you will kill hundreds, if not thousands, of people etc.,
      I have a game going right now: xp level 33, 32 hrs in, and it states under stats I've already murdered two people. Who? No idea. There are no good guys in this game: everyone is a bad guy.

      The BOS is nowhere near being fascists. For starters they don't try to impose any form of authority over the people of the Commonwealth. They let the people live their lives, so long as they don't attack the BOS. The closest they get is asking you to "recruit" settlements, which can be done by paying them to align with the BOS. Not to mention only you are asked to do it, so it's not a priority of the faction. Secondly, the things they want to destroy are actual threats. Synths can be nice, but they can be reprogrammed or malfunction to start killing people. Ghouls can be nice, but they can go feral. Super mutants can be nice, but they can also regress to be killing machines. Everything they despise can be a threat, and most likely will be a threat. Thirdly, their only real mission to to collect tech, and to destroy threats. Nothing about them would align with fascism.

      The moment that made me want to join the Brotherhood was when I was heading to a quest location, and saw Brotherhood knights fighting Supermutants that I would have needed to kill. Having these guys in the game, and on my side, makes my job easier.

      @@chadnorris8257 I'm a big BOS fan and I often just walk with a patrol of knights, pretending we're all in the same squad. I really wish we could actually recruit knights and paladins and just go patrol the wasteland together. I think it would make sense to be able to order BOS guys around too, seeing how the player becomes sentinel at the end.

      @@wolfbrigade8042 It would be nice being able to order patrols once we get to Paladin rank. There's so much more that could have been done with the game, that they didn't do. I like the gameplay, and the world, but the story and factions are a weak point. The settlement building could have used work too.
      Funnily enough I bought the game because I heard the factions were interesting, and that there was settlement building. Neither of which turned out as good as I hoped, but I still like the gameplay, the perks, and the world.

      Institute was dumb for creating Synths in the first place (for ethical and practical reasons), but Railroad is even dumber. First created the biggest threat to Mankind, second works to spread it further. Synths will replace all humanity if given time.
      Let's look at Dima. He replaced key humans with synths, killing the originals, then he pacified his conscience by removing the memories and storing them away to feel better. Shows you that synths can and will turn on humanity on a moment's notice.

  • @PaladinThizz
    @PaladinThizz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    The BOS looks at the bigger picture. Ghouls eventually become feral, whether in 200 years or 2 years, they will become feral and you have no idea when that may happen. It could happen while you're traveling with them and you can be asleep. Their flesh falls off and they smell like a corpse. They are extremely fast and strong and difficult to kill. You would not, realistically, hang out with them if you wouldn't even hang out with people with poor hygiene. Synths are machines, technology often degrades with time. They have the capability to bring the human race to extinction. The "friendly" mutants once we're part of an army that sought to bring the human race to extinction. Since they are sentient they can change their minds at any time and go back to killing. If you lived in that world you wouldn't like them either. If you wouldn't even approach a raccoon because of their potential to be dangerous you wouldn't approach a mutant or a ghoul.
