This just goes to show that even though this game may not have been one of the most popular in the franchise, but they 100% put more effort into it than a lot of people think. Had no idea any of this dialogue existed
There's actually dialogue and animations in the game for reviving Nora/Nate if you bring Curie to Vault 111, and they function as a companion afterward - it's what the "Save your spouse" mods all take advantage of. But it was cut from release.
Everyone agrees the game had an excellent opening, and both the VAs do a great job selling the panic of watching their significant other die. (Nate especially knocks it out of the park all throughout the game) Basically all the problems people have with the game can be traced back to one thing: The Institute. Despite being the single most plot-important faction of the bunch, it SCREAMS of poor communication within the writing team. Their primary gimmick is synths, but their primary objective (to leave the commonwealth) has absolutely nothing to do with synths. Meanwhile they're filling the surface with super mutants and replacing random people with robot doubles for reasons that are never explained. You can practically see multiple writers all trying to make the Institute something different, and since that lack of cohesion causes the whole narrative to collapse.
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworthalso game honestly has less roleplay space and less possible options that fallout new Vegas and 3 had. I love the premise here. Having a companion follow you in, leading them here then turning around like “ You see this? Whataya think? 👀” Like some twisted show and tell
This why strong is the realest of the companions bro really out there busting heads open, eating people, and gives a moment of silence for the fallen when its needed
3:23 Idk if it was the video, the game being weird or the actual line but to me it sounds like Garvey himself is trying to keep from tearing up as he walks away.
Feel's weird taking anyone in fact. First time i played the game, i closed the pod, and i really thought someone would help her somehow, cause she was frozen and all, all she took was a shot and wasn't a headshot so.... I was even more suprised when nate told codsworth she was dead. This game story makes no sense at all.
It's insane the details this game has, I never thought to bring my companion to Nora. I don't think I ever re-entered the vault 111 after my first play through.
I came back here on whim with Paladin Danse to get the cryolatot and thought Id head back for roleplaying reasons and when Danse had spoken..... It really made me feel as if Id lost someone...... Fallout 4's story was and is still gut wrenching for me
Nick's reaction is just amazing. The way he starts to make one of his usual stoic comments only to realize halfway through and the emotion in his voice just hits me, Especially since he rarely disolays emotion.
The fact you could hear Danse, Piper, Preston, and even Nick(who is a SYNTH for crying out loud) choking up with emotion proves how much the voice actors put towards this game.
I like to think in lore reason why Nate “takes” them there is that he probably goes there to see her once in a while, and probably put flowers down and all in all it’s a “perfect grave” because it’s underground and the body will never decay.
Some of the no reactions are hidden in the game files and you have to use the unofficial patch to reveal them. Vanilla gameplay is okay, but you're literally playing with the skeleton of the game instead of the extra fleshy bit thrown about!
Surprised the guy who also lost his wife doesn't have a reaction but the cold institute synth who doesn't feel love for anything or anyone does. Great writing, Bethesda.
It's because people could use dogmeat to get the cryolator early. Telling him to fetch it would make dogmeat clip through the container to bring it to you.
Bethesda has been pretty lazy lately. The only time anyone ever calls the Sole Survivor's spouse by their actual name is them. If you visit Goodneighbor before Valentine schedules the appointment with Amari, you can ask Irma to help you relive the memory of your spouse's death (for a price anyway) Alternatively, you can try to pass a speech check. During the memory sequence, if you approach your spouse's pod, they will say their name.
ok but the fact that basically everyone is just like "wait a fucking moment THAT'S your spouse? Hold up you alright?" Especially the Cait? X6? Hancock? Valentine? Coddsworth? Heck you even see gage doing a 'should I really comment on this' double take. I'm not crying, coddsworth is
Check hidden Gage's replika in Cola-cars arena. It's interesting. There is also advice of how to kill Colter easier. th-cam.com/video/Jyy7XvZCK6o/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching !
Why do we just leave her in the vault!? It would have been so badass and dramatic to carry her through the vault, up the elevator to the surface, and bury her somewhere. Nate, you fucked up. You left your wife to rot on display for all to see.
probably a patch so you can't exploit the cryolator from it's locked case. Game still buggier than hell, but glad they fixed all the exploits that help the player out... None of which are so easy to accidentally do that really needed fixed, if you wanted to cheat... fine, if you didn't, it took no effort at all to not dupe or cheat anything.
Its funny, I’d dare to say Nick and Codsworth have the most human reactions. Don’t get me wrong, everyone else choosing to focus on your feelings and make sure you are ok is great. But Codsworth and Nick feel genuine sorrow once they realize. Codsworth makes sense since he was a member of the family, but to Nick she’s a stranger. And yet you can hear how he chokes up once he realizes what he’s looking at. He feels sorrow for a man who’s lost his whole world, and maybe he can relate in a way.

This just goes to show that even though this game may not have been one of the most popular in the franchise, but they 100% put more effort into it than a lot of people think. Had no idea any of this dialogue existed
lol lmao even
There is also one in Trinity Plaza as well for most of the companions. I’ll let you find that one.
(Nate especially knocks it out of the park all throughout the game)
Basically all the problems people have with the game can be traced back to one thing: The Institute.
And some people didn't like having MC who had such a big amount of backstory behind him/herself for a RPG game but honestly the last one doesn't feel like a problem to me
“Oh, I’m really sorry general; take all the time you need…to help another settlement.”
When Coddsworth said mom, I almost cried.
I dont think he was saying it as if she were his maternal figure, i think he was saying it as the equivalent of "ma'am" or madam
"Take all the time you need general...after that theres a settlement that needs your help!"
I'll mark it on your map
You could see it in hancocks eyes.....he understood real quick. All the chems and meds couldn't erase the pain. That's a man who through his many years of being a drug addict and a ghoul and being the mayor of good neighbor tells you it hit him harder than you think. Nick's reaction was more human than anyone.
Dogmeat does have a reaction here for those who are curious but were not around during the earlier years of play.
Dogmeat would sit at the same spot they all stopped, and whine sadly and give consoling whimpers as if he was trying to say, 'Hey Dad, Im here okay?"
Piper:
Published response: is that who I think it is? Are you ok?
Personal response: why does she have the same hair style as me? We look kinda simi…. Oh god
Perfect replacement.
I have a theory that Piper is Nora's great (x something) niece and that's why they look kinda similar
What can our protagonist say? Nate has a really high standards.
First of Piper is the most annoying follower there is period second there's no way she's related to Nora because you can play the game as Nora actually playing as a girl is the optimal melee build because black widow is a hundred times more effective than confirmed bachelor
@@Jason0binladenoh my goodness take a joke
Fallout 4's writing may not be anything crazy but its geniunely so cool that they added this.
Also Fallout 4's voice acting is so under appreciated characters like Nick & Codsworth genuinely sound so sorry for you.
I love the premise here. Having a companion follow you in, leading them here then turning around like “ You see this? Whataya think? 👀” Like some twisted show and tell
For some reason Paladin Danse's response broke me and now I'm crying 😭
valentines reaction made me feel sad
I’m impressed they even put this in the game, it’s not like you ever need to come back here.
I like how even the robot looks at her, acknowledges the corpse, and walks away
I'm honestly a little surprised that Ada, Curie, and Deacon didn't have any responses.
Deacon should, he literally talks about his own dead wife.
Right?! And he literally knows you came from Vault 111!
@@18videowatcher41 ye knows you came from a vault
But he knows nothing of you personally
Just based on rumors and observing from a distance
I was wondering if Curie would have a response... after you complete her quest.
This why strong is the realest of the companions bro really out there busting heads open, eating people, and gives a moment of silence for the fallen when its needed
The way Nick whispers “I’m so sorry” like he was going to wake her. Goddamn the voice acting on that tin man hits me right in the feels
"I'm really sorry General... But I've got another settlement that needs your help. Here, I'll mark it on your map."
3:23 Idk if it was the video, the game being weird or the actual line but to me it sounds like Garvey himself is trying to keep from tearing up as he walks away.
Feel's weird to take anyone but Codsworth down there tbh.
Maybe she was shot in the heart? @@MardenZengar
@@hinderwl maybe but i mean, you don't even see the wound...
@@MardenZengar Well you can't even see your gun when holstered.
@@hinderwl yeah lol
Every time a robot walked in there I laughed is there something wrong with me
They do have pretty goofy walking animations.
It's insane the details this game has, I never thought to bring my companion to Nora. I don't think I ever re-entered the vault 111 after my first play through.
No dogs in the vaults huh
Dude.. I’m feeling @theepicnate315 is making 2 hour long video based on that coincidence
"Who decided that?"
Dogmeat originally could go into the vault, but they nerfed that because you could use him to retrieve the cryo weapon early game.
I came back here on whim with Paladin Danse to get the cryolatot and thought Id head back for roleplaying reasons and when Danse had spoken..... It really made me feel as if Id lost someone...... Fallout 4's story was and is still gut wrenching for me
" This is where I watched my wife die, Deacon. "
"... (Don't make the comparison) ...why is she in a cyro-pod-thing? are you Mr. freeze? ( *Fuck.* ) "
Was it just me or did X6 actually sound sorry compared to what he normally sounds like?
You are litteraly the father of this creator so for him you and your wife are the god of this god
I really wish there was at least just a small side quest, where you and your companions could bury her and have a small funeral for her.
I knew this was fake when Preston didn't say "I'm sorry General, but ANOTHER settlement needs your help"
You know a situation is really sad when even Preston Garvey tells you can take your time.
This video broke my heart over & over again. I didn’t even know this was a thing
Nick's reaction is just amazing.
The way he starts to make one of his usual stoic comments only to realize halfway through and the emotion in his voice just hits me,
Especially since he rarely disolays emotion.
I noticed I couldn't get dogmeat to follow me into 111, but I never realized why
When we are going together in Vault 111 - Dogmeat is waiting outside. Don't understand why also.
@@rockforgames I think that was their way to fix the bug in which you can get the cryolator with dogmeat
dogmeat used to be able to obtain cryolator very early on in the game by simply ask him to fetch a weapon.
Just realised this was a joke in the FALLOUT series...no dogs allowed in the vault..🤦♂️
nick's VA really knows how to do it.
I have over 100 hours in this game and i never knew this was a thing
Neither did I till the other day when i gone back to pick up the Cryogun and walked into this room with MacCready.
The fact you could hear Danse, Piper, Preston, and even Nick(who is a SYNTH for crying out loud) choking up with emotion proves how much the voice actors put towards this game.
Pipe’s soft and concerned tone ❤️
Hey, the fact that you put the time to go in and out of the vault so many times is incredible. Here's a sub
Makes sense the DLC characters have no reactions.
It’s funny how 70% of their response boils down to
*stiffly walks over*
“Well that sucks. I’m here for you.”
*stiffly walks away*
Wow, so the “no dogs in the vault” rule really is a thing. That said, Piper and Codsworth’s reactions seem the most empathetic and sad/sweet.
*Everyone feeling bad about noras death*
Automatron: “idgas.”
"This is where I watched my wife die, Parapa."
This is where you watched your wife die oops-oop
I like to think in lore reason why Nate “takes” them there is that he probably goes there to see her once in a while, and probably put flowers down and all in all it’s a “perfect grave” because it’s underground and the body will never decay.
Preston: "I'm sorry General. That must be hard for you. Speaking of having hard times..."
"...there is another settlement that needs your help. I'll mark it on your map."
Gage: “What the….oh…wait….OHHH i’m blind all of a sudden”
Piper: why dose she look simaler to me?
Good question
I like how Garvey casually walks away to give you some grieving space after seeing Nate's wife's deceased corpse
Strong: "You gonna eat that?"
A lot of people talking about nick, but the way 'loud mouth' piper quiets down, and is super soft is so damn sweet.
Damn I love Codsworth
Some of the no reactions are hidden in the game files and you have to use the unofficial patch to reveal them. Vanilla gameplay is okay, but you're literally playing with the skeleton of the game instead of the extra fleshy bit thrown about!
Surprised the guy who also lost his wife doesn't have a reaction but the cold institute synth who doesn't feel love for anything or anyone does. Great writing, Bethesda.
Dogmeat didn't refuse, dogs aren't allowed in vaults
It's because people could use dogmeat to get the cryolator early.
Telling him to fetch it would make dogmeat clip through the container to bring it to you.
@@General..Grievous I think it was a joke in reference of the series c:
Codsworths reaction is so sad
“Is that,mum?”
Bethesda has been pretty lazy lately. The only time anyone ever calls the Sole Survivor's spouse by their actual name is them.
If you visit Goodneighbor before Valentine schedules the appointment with Amari, you can ask Irma to help you relive the memory of your spouse's death (for a price anyway)
Alternatively, you can try to pass a speech check.

Thank you for watching !
Paladan's reaction was far more wholesome than I thought lmao
Why do we just leave her in the vault!? It would have been so badass and dramatic to carry her through the vault, up the elevator to the surface, and bury her somewhere. Nate, you fucked up. You left your wife to rot on display for all to see.
"oh god is that... mum?" -codsworth.
How to repair Nick's hand ✋

I love how it implies your character just doesnt give a fuck enough to bury them so instead they just leave them rotting away in their pod.
Never had an issue with Dogmeat going into the vault.
Who that in your pfo
@@AceOfBlackjackme
probably a patch so you can't exploit the cryolator from it's locked case.
He feels sorrow for a man who’s lost his whole world, and maybe he can relate in a way.
exactly, i feel like almost everyone else's reactions were more when you hear about her passing but not seeing her literal dead body
Thanks for this, hope you grow your channel more. Thanks also for the nick tip.
