    Can't get over how snappy it is. I just got 450mbs down in my area. But it takes a while to get there. New cm2000 will be installed soon. Fingers crossed it fixes the problem with this puma chip modem I have

    They don’t have crap on WOW! for cable. 1000x50 for us. Also just an FYI those modems are identical internally. They both have Broadcom chipsets. The only difference is the return bandsplit on the CM8200 is unlocked for the high band and EURODOCSIS as well.

      Just wanted to do comparison to see if netgear to netgear would make a difference or not. Also, not to get charged for modem lease.

    Different times of day will net different results depending on neighborhood congestion. This can change minute to minute with a thousand different factors. Please take your results with a grain of salt. Latency is all that matters really once you get above 100mbsp or so.

  • @cameronmueller
    @cameronmueller 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Try finding a usb wifi tester, its what us as Techs use to actually pull the 1gig, most are actually getting 1020-1050 per sec.. obviously depends on your wiring and neighborhood node scores.

    Nice review. A suggestion - using speedtest.net's app for Win 10 does a superior job of testing speeds. More consistent, higher speeds. Choose your closest reliable test center, and stick with that for your tests. With cable, don't do your tests at busy times (5PM).There are probably a lot of things your provider can to to improve your service, if your best speeds (on the app, with closest, best testing center) are still lacking. Getting your ISP to replace all your interior cable (all the way to the connection source,) and eliminating as many splitters as possible will help. A fresh install of Win 10 might help. Even with all new, tested cabling, there may still be adjustments that can be made by a line tech, outside of your apartment (telephone pole box, etc.) When techs do a test of your line showing 'perfect', that isn't the whole story. Levels in the exterior cable box (telephone pole,) might be too high or too low.
    From my casual testing of CM1000 vs. Arris 8200, it seems that both reported lower pings than the Comcast XB6 modem (11ms to local center). The CM1000 ping tests are crazy fast - 5ms? About 9ms for the Arris. The Arris did seem to have higher numbers on the upload side. Had one support call to Arris - helpful, learned something, not annoying. NOT happy with the experience of calling Netgear support. Arris = 2 year warranty, Netgear = 1 year.
    Anyone upgrading to Gigabit service: Make sure you're getting good speeds with XB6 before purchasing a Docsis 3.1 modem to replace it, otherwise, you're doubling your trouble, and losing precious warranty time, if problems arise. If you live in an older house / apartment building, you may end up working very hard to get your ISP to provide the promised speeds. There are a lot of aspects of testing a new install (even before sending out an installer,) that could save the ISPs (and their customers,) a lot of time and hassle.

    I need to do firmware update on my arris cm8200a. I have 1 gig service, only pulling 600 for down and 60 for up :(.

    • @4KVegas
      @4KVegas  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Firmware update on the modem end should come directly from the ISP. Try restarting the modem. If update it needed it will force update upon restart. If this doesn't work and the modem is leased from the ISP. Simply return the modem for a new one, there is issues with the one you have if that did not work.

I'm looking to purchase my own and I think I may grab that NETGEAR. The most I've been able to pull was 700 download and 40 upload depending on the day lol. It's never a consistent download/upload. Bro if you do the speed test using internet explorer with the flash player you het higher speeds chrome won’t allow you to do the test because it dose not have a flash player so it idles your speed. And you can’t use Microsoft edge because it dose not use flash. Search internet explorer on your computer search bar and make sure it’s the real on not edge and you will see a huge increase in speed. Your welcome.
