    You can not run the speed tests together on 2 devices on the same WiFi, cause it is going to split your speed in half on both. Did that not seem weird to you that you were not getting your speeds when you were running the test at the same time on both devices.

    • @xxxbadandyxx
      @xxxbadandyxx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually you won't... If you have wave 2 wifi with 4x4 mu-Mimo ... You wouldn't have issues... Especially since most tests will jump or jump from one server to another... Depending on tests. Heck wave1 has no issue trying this either. Tested wifi signal at different sites with wave1 and never had issue pulling multiple speed tests.

    It's always better to test the speed by connecting your machine to Modem directly. This way your machine will get public IP address and there is no NAT translation or intermediary device involved in between. I am glad u tested this way.

    I pretty much only recommend buying a modem if you rent from your cable company and don't want to pay to rent it anymore. It's a long game play to eventually make more money. So you drop 200-300 bucks on that modem and then in 2-3 years you end up saving. With that long game in mind its best to buy one that is higher than the speed you got now. So if in 2-3 years you end up going faster you don't have re-buy for example (1 gig probably is high enough for everyone, but you never know right).

    I didn't know why my ARRIS SurfBoard SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 1.4GB cable modem (wired) couldn't get the 1GB Comcast speed I upgraded to -- but only 481Mbps (my old 400 Mbps Comcast speed). Now I know. I need a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem!

    Got exactly the same combo Modem + Router. Had Comcast Gigabit speed, was doing 300+ at most connected directly to the router. Changed contract speed to 600 mbps, speed went down to 130. Called Comcast they don't know why this is happening, and changed contract to 200 mbps now doing the same 130. I read a Netgear Modem thread online of people having the same issue in having but no one has a solution it seems it's a Comcast thing I guess, really frustrating.

    So I paying for Comcast 600 mbps package, but my WiFi top speed with the netgear CM 1000 modem & the AC 1750 router was toping out @ 250 mbps. Hard wired with my cpu and ran test strait from modem speeds @ over 600 mbps. So yes I was getting what I was paying for from comcast. But WiFi speeds fell way below what I was paying for. I expected some drop off but not that much of a difference. So I looked @ doing a modem upgrade, glad I did! Replaced my netgear AC 1750 with a Netgear AX 5200 and now speeds are running @ 450 - 550 mbps. Plus I got a great Black Friday deal of $149 on the modem that regularly sells for $279. And my WiFi speeds are where they should be @ now.

    Although your wifi may say AC speed, real-life seems not to go beyond 300Mb on 5GHz. Mileage may vary depending on the router.

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How fast your router is is dependent on what number of AC it is. The second thing is if it has enough range to sustain the speed you want over the size of area you need.

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @kenniikalonji Do you know what speed you pay for?

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @kenniikalonji Google wifi is AC1200, that's why you're not getting 1G. You need a router that supports at least 1G on both the 2ghz and 5 ghz bands. I believe that will be the AC3200 at least.

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @kenniikalonji It's maximum speed is 900 mbps so, no it does not support 1 gbps. Your youtube video may be using something that isn't the google wifi.
      Expensive is a subjective. If by "needing" you mean that a maximum of 900 mbps is enough, yes.
      This part of your statement is incoherent because you're describing 1 gbps as little yet that's actually more than what your router even supports. In any case, my point is that if you want 1 gbps than you need a router that will support that amount.

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @kenniikalonji 900mbps is 100 less than 1gb actually. Sorry you feel that way. Didn't mean to up set you. You said you weren't getting the speed you pay for & I thought I would help you.
      Your speeds over wifi aren't guaranteed by the ISP, it's your router that's going to do that. The additional cost would be to obtain the entirety of the speed you pay for & not to please me.
      I thought you said "I use google wifi router and get 600-700Mbps on wifi". Do you mean hardwired you get 900mbps? Because if it is, it could be possible to reach 1gbps by upgrading your cable modem to one that has DOCSIS 3.1 like the man in this video.
      Hardwiring your house is a great idea for those that can afford it but unfortunately that still doesn't guarantee your speeds through WIFI if your router isn't power enough.
      Actually, yes I have bought what I wanted & achieve the exact speeds Comcast tells me I have. I agree with you, the original commenter was ill informed but that's ok. Again, sorry to have upset you so much. I was only trying to help.

    Also get a cat 7 twisted shielded Ethernet wire and plug from modem to router.

      Cat 7 is overkill on a home network. It is useless for typical home equipment. Cat 6 is sufficient

      @@melseven5294 yes very true and even cat5e does the job. But if you can get cat7 why not just get it and not worry about cables issues in future?

      @@DragonProtector there is no official standard for cat 7 so it's more so a marketing gimmick. cat 6a which is official should be future proof for many many years, at least until 10 gbps is considered slow

    You probably should have a tri band router so you can have 2 5GHZ bands & get an external wireless adapter for your HP.

      Why does it state that you can set the modem up for the cm1200 and not be able to connect to the internet using the new modem to manually do that? Do you have to set it up manually before using it or after u install it. If so I waited a good half hour with no results
