    Hey brotha, I bought this modem recently along side a tp link deco xe75. Every couple hours my router will randomly lose connection to the internet for a couple seconds. Could you by chance know of any reason why this may be happening? Modem and Router are up to date on firmware, and have been activate by my ISP (xfinity).

      @@Zachus Will the new one (or the one you reviewed) work with our Ooma connection as well? We have an Arris Touchstone TM1602, which we've been renting from Optimum for years. Seems like there's got to be better out there, and we want to own it.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Ooma works with any router. This is a modem with one network plug that goes to your WiFi router. Paying a monthly fee adds up. I always buy mine. Remember this is for cable internet. Fiber uses a different kind.

  • @jackshittle

    Do you need a special ethernet cable to get the actual 1 gig performance? (or a special ethernet cable for my wifi router)? Thanks :)

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not special but different ethernet cables run different speeds. You need one rated for gig+ and of course your ISP has be sending in a 1 gig signal to your modem. This is the one I use amzn.to/3t7ZZzj

    Hey Zach habe you noticed a difference from using one previously supplied by your isp ,?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually modems supplied by your ISP are pretty good. I just don't like paying a monthly fee. After a year you just giving them money usually unless they provide it for free. The main thing is to always test at the modem directly to make sure speeds are hot. Then get a really good wifi router to distribute that out

    How does it actually work it's mountaly or rental

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a modem you purchase so that you don't have to pay your ISP (Internet Service Provider) a monthly fee and have a better modem. This does not provide internet. It just reads the connection from your ISP. Then you'll need a Wifi router to take that internet and convert it to a wireless around your home.
      Example if you've ever had cable or direcTV you get the signal into the house, but you need a box that says what package you have, what speed, that you have an account with them, etc... Same thing with your internet, it comes into the house and you need a box to say, you have an account, speed, etc... Hope this helps

      @@Zachus My internet provider is coming tomorrow. We are going from 100mbps to 1 Gig. What down load speed should I expect?. Running a Acer Nitro 5.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Download speeds should be 1 gig connected directly with a Cat 8. If you are using wifi that depends greatly on your Wifi Router, house design, how close you are to neighbors (noise band interference) and material of your house, along with some other things. If you have a high end router you should get close to 1 Gig or at least around 800Mbps if a lower end it might be different and lower depending what it can handle.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no interface or setup. This is a modem. You connect your cable into it and your RJ45 network came from it to your computer or to your wifi router. It simply lets you get internet from your cable internet provider.

      @@Zachus so the only way to port forward is by having a modem-router combo, or does it have a switch to put it into bridge mode?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A modem is simply a key card. It reads that you have access to your cable internet provider, what speed and translates the signal from cable into RJ45 (network cable) which you can connect directly to a device and have internet.
      If you want to connect more than one device or/and have wifi devices, you need a router ora wireless router. This distributes the internet from the modem to a wireless signal and if you need more direct connections (wired) you'll need a hub for your router. It's in the name, it routes the internet to the right port and device.
      Hope this helps.
      Bridge mode is something you find on a modem/router combo that let's you bypass the router part so you can use your own independent router.

    Does anyone know if this router supports 2.5 and 5ghz?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      this is a modem not a router. This is what allows you to access your internet via your ISP (Internet Service Provider) like Comcast or ATT. You then need a wifi router which I recommend several here on my channel to send that internet out around your house wirelessly. Hope this helps

      Just had a huge issue with Xfinity Comcast using the Arris SB8200 - big down/upstream issue was actually the line coming in from the outside port which Xfinity just resolved. The guy showed me I was getting 950-999MB directly through Sb8200. I run an Apple Airport through it as a router and get abismal WiFi.
      I only have blue light for downstream “bonded” connection - and when I speed test directly with a CAT8 Ethernet into my iMac, I’m only getting 150MB on a 1GB plan - something is wrong.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, something is wrong, have you swamped out? It might just be a bad one. Apple Airport is old won't support speeds. You should look at my other videos and pick a newer router but first get your modem working. You should get 1GB connection directly connected unless you are using something old that cannot support 1Gig connection.
