    Just recently discovered your channel Keith.
    As an ex-pat Brit I'm always on the lookout for recipes for good traditional British recipes.
    I've made my own pies and pasties now for many a year.
    I like the idea of using a hot water crust pastry with the pasties.
    Just waiting for mine zocool down down now.
    Cheers mate.

    Nice. Can't wait to try. FYI, the closed caption didn't allow us to see the end cut product, which was a little disappointing. But will definitely make. Thank you!

    I never thought of using hot water + butter to make a pastry dough. I always thought it had to be ice water and butter cubes. Gonna have to try this!

    Hi Kieth,
    i love watching and trying your recipes and i do try and enjoy them.
    The only complain i have at the moment is that at times your subtitles on your post block out most of your demonstration.
    it would be good if you could somehow rearrange the subtitles as to not blocking the exellent vidio.
    Thank you.

      Obviously it's impossible for me to know what went wrong, but all I can guess at is did you measure the ingredients out properly. They should be in the ratio of 2 parts flour, 1 part fat and 1 part water.

      I do that with Cornish-type pasties, but prefer to precook saucy ingredients for other types. If you just throw in raw ingredients you'll get a very different pastie.

      KeefCooks I subscribed today.... Finally. Dig your stuff. You guys Aussie/Britts do a lot more savory pies than the States. I do like them and it is a lot of work to stop calling it a Shepard's pie and to correctly call it a cottage pie as I now realize the difference.

  • @mikedocherty3874
    @mikedocherty3874 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually it's called Feta cheese on the continent (EU) as well! Just another example of the uninformed utterances of nonsense that made brexit possible.

    • @Keefcooks
      @Keefcooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mike Doherty Not entirely sure what your point is here - the use of the name is restricted to cheese produced in the areas named in the EU approval document

    • @mikedocherty3874
      @mikedocherty3874 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Keefcooks no it has to do with the type of milk used and has nothing to do with the region where the cheese is produced. You imply that it can't be called Feta in the UK because of EU regulations.

    • @Keefcooks
      @Keefcooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikedocherty3874 The EU PDO states that it's cheese made from brined sheep or goat's milk (or a mixture) from specified regions of Greece. Any cheese being sold in the EU as 'feta' must comply with the PDO. And that applies to the UK as long as we are EU members. It might cease to apply at the end of the transition period depending on how brutal a Brexit the UK government pushes for.
